Epilogue
LUKE
“Luke, if you don’t get off me, I’m going to be late to my set.”
We spent the past three months on her DJ tour, traveling all over the world.
“Did you tell your brothers you’re movin’ in with me?”
“Not yet.” She smiled at me. “But I will.”
“I’m not sleepin’ without you in our bed.”
“Our.” She smiled again. “I like the sound of that.”
She was still radiating from our last night in Cuba.
“Have I thanked you enough for surprising me with my mom’s ashes yesterday? How did you pull that off?”
“I know a guy who knows a guy.”
She giggled in the way that made my dick twitch. “
“Mmm…”
“If you keep makin’ those noises, you’re definitely gonna miss your set.”
“I can’t believe how fast this trip went, but I’m excited to go back to Oak Island with you.”
“My mom is excited to see you.”
“I know. Your sister told me.”
“You two have been quite close.”
“She’s like the female version of you, but with less rage.”
I laughed.
“I guess time flies when you’re having fun. I had the best time of my life. I know my mom is smiling down on us, happy we’re together.”
“Is that right?”
“We were always meant to be.”
“Now I love the sound of that.” I kissed her.
“But seriously! Stop! I need to get dressed!”
“But I love what you’re wearing.”
“I’m naked. Again.”
“You know what happens when you call me old man.”
She smirked. “All the more reason to call you that often.”
“Stop, or I’m gonna fuck you again,” I groaned, falling to the side of her body, placing my hands under my head. “Fine, but get ready so I can least enjoy the view.”
“You coming backstage with me again?”
“Where else would I be?”
“You know you look like you’re my bodyguard back there, right?”
“Here I thought I was.”
“You’re just the cutest thing in the world.”
“I’m just tryin’ to get laid.”
She hit my face with a pillow.
“How about you sit on my face instead?”
“Luke!”
“You better run.”
Her eyes widened. Fully aware I was about to chase her. It was her favorite game, especially out in the woods. She dressed like Little Red Riding Hood last week when we were in Puerto Rico, so I took her out back on my property and ordered her to run.
Let’s just say she didn’t get very far from the Big Bad Wolf.
She laughed, hauling ass out of the room. I didn’t hesitate to run after her.
She was my world, and I had no fucking problem with that…
It didn’t matter where we were. My home was when I was with her.
I’d make her my wife.
The mother of my children.
Because I knew now more than ever…
She was the love of my life.
SLOAN
I stopped behind the couch with my hands out in front of me, making him pause on the other side of the sofa.
“I have to get dressed, and this isn’t helping.”
“Is that a threat or an invitation?”
Before I could run away, he tackled me onto the couch with him on top of me.
I laughed. “How are we back here again?”
“You can’t get enough of me.”
“More like you can’t get enough of me.”
“Damn straight.”
“I love you.” I kissed him.
“Loud and clear, baby.”
The second his lips touched mine, he growled, parting them and beckoning me to do the same.
I did.
His hands were all over me like he couldn’t decide where he wanted to touch me the most.
I leaned into every touch.
Every sensation.
Every emotion he’d forever stir inside me.
He was mine.
For the first time in my life, I truly felt safe. Luke would never let anything happen to me. I knew that like I knew our love for each other. Maybe we didn’t start in all the ways, but we ended in the right place. I’d eternally be grateful for him saving my life.
Luke Jameson wasn’t just my hero.
He was my soulmate.
I wanted him.
Craved him.
Needed him.
Every last part of him.
He started kissing his way down my stomach, and my cell phone rang, cutting him off.
“Hold that thought.”
With that, I jumped off the couch as he tried to grab me. I quickly picked up my phone from the nightstand in his place. I swear the man really did have tons of properties. It was insane how many. I think we mostly stayed at his homes or at a friend’s house everywhere we went. I learned pretty early on that he didn’t like hotels.
I answered, “Hey, X.”
I could tell by his silence that something was up.
“Is everything alright?”
He hesitated for a moment.
“X, you’re scaring me.”
Luke sat up, glancing at me with a concerned expression. My hand shot to my heart, bracing myself for I don’t what.
X inhaled a deep breath as I put him on speaker and threw on the black silk robe that was on the floor.
“X, what’s going on?”
In three words, X threw me into a tailspin when he revealed…“Nav is missing.”
