Ethan Whitmore
Once I sent Ava on her way, I had to take a minute to myself and smoke a blunt.
My nerves were on ten, and I had some shit to address before I even continued on with my day.
It was detrimental that I smoked before going back to the office.
Had I not, everybody would have been in the crossfire to getting cussed the fuck out.
I was the CEO, therefore, everything that took place within the company needed to be run by me first. Gwen had shit fucked up, and she definately overstepped a boundary.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Ava’s face popped back into my mind.
The humiliation she tried so hard to hide irritated the fuck outta me all over again.
She actually handled the situation better than expected, although I knew she wanted to break down right then and there.
Charles was on my ass as I made my way to Gwen’s office.
“Yo, what the fuck was that?” I bust through her door?
“Excuse me?” she raised her eyebrow.
“Who the hell are you talking to?” Trenton chimed in.
“Mind your business, bitch.” I pointed at him.
“Who the fuck gave you the okay to pull some shit like that? I should never walk into a meeting fuckin blindsided. That’s some shit that needed to be discussed with me before anybody else.
I don’t give a fuck how long you’ve been attached to this company.
This my shit now, let’s be clear on that.
If you don’t like it, take it up with your dead husband. ” I grilled Gwen.
“You muthafucker! Don’t you ever—”
“What?” I stepped to Trenton.
His hoe ass was all bark, no bite. I was sure he could see it in my eyes that I was with the shits.
“Don’t disrespect my mother.” He toned it down.
I laughed while shaking my head.
“Fuck you and ya momma, respectfully.”
Both Julia and Gwen gasped at the same time.
“I’ma say this shit one time and one time only. Don’t ever pull no shit like that again. You wanna call a meeting or wanna call somebody out on some bullshit, run it by me first.” I stared Gwen in the eyes.
“Is that understood?”
I could tell she was biting her tongue as I waited for a response. Her eyes pierced through me and I could see the hate circulating through her.
“Understood.” She said, gritting her teeth.
Trenton stood, face red as hell, staring at me.
“You got a problem?” I questioned.
“You don’t get to come here with your chest poked out talking to us crazy! Just because my father handed this position to you means nothing. You don’t mean anything, is that understood?”
I laughed in this muthafucka face because he really tried to impersonate me. I glanced over at Julia and Charles before I turned my attention back to Trenton.
“Let me tell you something. I’m not the muthafucka you wanna fuck with.
I’ve been keeping my cool when it comes to you.
I would count that shit as a favor. The best thing you can do, is keep your fuckin head down when you speak to me.
Better yet, keep your fuckin mouth closed and we won’t have any problems. That goes for your momma too.
I would hate to beat your ass and have your face plastered all over the news, feel me? ”
The same hate Gwen had in her eyes, flashed in Trenton’s. He didn’t bother to speak another word, he turned and went on about his business.
“That was intense.” Julia sighed. “They seriously needed that though.”
I stood quietly, rubbing my temples.
“I’m going to call Ava in a few because I honestly think she should sue that man.”
“He’ll be dealt with accordingly.” I cracked my knuckles. “Is that paperwork secured?” I glanced at Charles.
“Everything is handled and ready to move forward.” He nodded.
“What time does the next meeting start?”
“Right now, actually,” Julia glanced at her watch. “I’m so ready to go home.” She groaned.
I took a few minutes to gather myself mentally before getting up to join everybody else in the conference room.
Thirty minutes in, I had Stephanie bring me a double shot of Whiskey.
I was ready to get the fuck on and fuck on my girl.
I knew the situation from earlier had her upset.
The hurt that glazed her eyes broke something inside of me.
It made me wanna put a muthafucka in the dirt.
I couldn’t even focus on the meeting because all I could think about was Ava, and how she was feeling.
Then, my phone rang. I glanced and noticed it was Ace.
I ignored it at first and sent him to voicemail.
He immediately hit me back. I excused myself from the board to step out in the hallway for more privacy.
“I’m in the middle of a meeting, man. What’s up?”
“I just got a call from my dumbass sister. She locked up in county.”
I pulled the phone from my ear to look at it. I knew damn well my ears were playing tricks on me.
“What? What the fuck you mean she in county.”
“Her and Aja pulled up on that fuck nigga and beat his ass.” I heard him chuckle.
I didn’t find shit funny because I gave her ass specific instructions and she didn’t follow through.
“Where’s Savannah?”
“A neighbor got her. That’s who called me and told me what happened. I’m on my way to pick her up. Apparently, they arrested that nigga too.”
I stood silent, pinching the bridge of my nose. If it wasn’t one thing it was a fucking other.
“Look, I have one more meeting to sit through. I’m sending Charles to meet you at the jail house. Just hit me once he gets everything handled and they’re out.” I sighed.
“Aight, bet.”
