Ava Gray #3

I sat shaking my head because basically, all he said was he had to show and prove that his nuts were bigger than Rob’s.

I literally stood in the middle of an ego war and watched Ethan win.

When a man’s ego is broken by another man, sometimes that shit ends in a tragedy.

I knew how hard Rob worked to maintain a successful business.

The club was literally his pride and joy.

I didn’t know how Ethan did it, but without me and his club, Rob had nothing.

“I didn’t like how you did that. He’s going—”

“He’s not going to do anything,” he cut me off. “Moving forward, all I want you to focus on is elevation. I don’t want you worrying about him. He can try to come for you all he wants, but I’ll never let anything bad happen to you.” He caressed the nape of my neck.

“And if I upset you, I apologize. That wasn’t my intention.” He stared into my eyes.

I believed him and I trusted him. However, I was just nervous about the trouble I knew was possibly heading my way.

Last night was one of those nights that I laid in bed stirred up with all types of emotions.

After Ethan and I left the club, we went back to his place for a few hours.

He fucked me through his mattress, then dropped back off at Aja’s.

He wanted me to stay the night but I declined.

I still couldn’t wrap my head around what had taken place.

Not only did Ethan secretly buy the club, but he waited until I was standing beside him to announce it to Rob.

Ethan had been making bold moves. I even asked him how he was able to buy the club without Rob knowing but he wouldn’t tell me.

“Drinks are served ladies.” Julia said, placing Margaritas down in front of me and my sister.

Stephanie called fifteen minutes prior letting us know she would be running behind and to start sipping without her. Julia wanted to have a girls brunch. Ten minutes in and after a little small talk, Julia leaned forward with a smile on her face.

“So, how was last night with my brother?”

“Last night was interesting.” I took a sip of my drink.

“Ok, well bitch spill the tea. You came creepin in so late, I ended up falling asleep.” Aja chimed in.

I sighed while shaking my head.

“He took me to Rob’s club.”

Aja nearly choked on her Margarita.

“Hold up, he did what?”

“Did he know that was your ex’s club?” Julia asked.

“Listen,” I rubbed my temples giggling.

“Ah hell,” Aja leaned back in her seat waiting for me to continue.

I told them everything, except the part about us fucking in the corner. By the time I finished giving them a recap, both Julia and Aja’s mouths were hanging open.

“Well, I be damned. That man really stole Rob’s whole business and legally made it yours?” Aja burst out laughing.

“Now, that’s what the fuck I’m talkin about. That’s a real man! EJ a muthafuckin gangsta for pullin that move!” Aja cracked up.

“Yea, that’s definitely what you call a power move.” Julia giggled. “So how do you feel? And what do you plan to do with the club?”

“I feel okay…I guess. Honestly, I haven’t even given it much thought. I’m literally just starting to pick my catering business up off the ground. I want to focus on one business at a time.” I shrugged.

“That makes sense.” Julia nodded.

“You can always turn it into a restaurant.” Aja added.

“I was literally about to say that.” Julia agreed with a smile.

“I don’t know, maybe.” I took a sip. “With all the shit that’s been going on between Rob and I, plus Ethan getting involved. Taking his club was like the cherry on top. I could see it in his eyes, Ethan woke up something in Rob and it’s not anything good.” I shook my head.

“Girl, fuck Rob.” Aja smacked her lips.

“Well yea, I second that.” Julia pointed. “However, men like Rob…they’re not the type to lose gracefully. He’s too controlling. Trust me, I know that type extremely well.” She sighed.

“That man tries some shit if he wants too. He thought those last two ass whoopins were something. He knows for a fact me and Ace will go to war over this one.” Aja nodded toward me. “And now we have another heavy hitter on the team. He ain’t fuckin with EJ.”

“All that may be true.” Julia sipped her drink.

“However, Ava, you need to make sure you’re thinking with a legal mindset as well.

You have to keep a paper trail of literally everything.

I mean, I know you’ve already started but don’t let up on it.

I don’t care if he drives past your sister’s house.

If you get that shit on camera, save it.

It’s sad to say, but the court doesn’t truly reward a person telling the truth. You have to prove it.”

“Shit, niggas can still have proof and get fucked over. That’s even sadder.” Aja chimed in.

I had a restraining order on file but that’s literally just a piece of paper.

It’s not truly protecting me from Rob or anyone else for that matter.

Ever since Ace gave me a gun, I’d been keeping it close every time I walked out of the house.

Julia was right though, I needed to make sure all of my ducks were in a row because shit was getting too messy.
