Ethan Whitmore #2
“Then, you almost killed my leading ladies. Because of you, we were close to having to bury my wife. So, you see that hole right there beside you?” I pointed. “What the fuck am I talking about? You can’t see shit.” I laughed, Ace and Duke joined in with me.
“Anyway, that’s your muthafuckin’ grave.”
Prior to coming out, Duke had dug a seven-foot hole.
“Did y’all tell this muthafucka what’s about to go down?” I asked.
“Nah, I was too busy whooping his ass and talkin’ my shit,” Ace said.
“I had to pull this nigga off. He was about to kill him.” Duke added.
If Ace would’ve ended him, I couldn’t even blame bruh. Although Ava was my love, she was still his twin…well triplet. The bond they shared would forever be deeper than the one we shared. They came into this world together, that was something I couldn’t take from them.
“Alright, so since they didn’t inform you, I’ma go ahead and enlighten yo’ bitch ass.
I thought long and hard about this shit too.
I figured putting a bullet between your eyes would be too easy, and wasn’t a fair punishment in Ava’s favor.
My baby has been suffering for months and still has a long way to go to get better.
So, it’s only right that you suffer before succumbing to your death. ”
Nodding, I gave the cue for Duke and Ace to move on to the next phase.
Together, they moved a wooden box over toward us.
You might as well say it was a casket for this muthafucka.
Ace stood off to the side with a nail gun in his hand and a smirk on his face.
By the collar of his shirt, I dragged Rob’s bitch ass over to the box and kicked him in.
“What the fuck are y’all doing!” he yelled.
His words came out in a mumble due to his lips being swollen.
“What you think, nigga? We’re about to bury yo’ ass alive.” Ace laughed.
Inside the box, Rob bounced around as if he had the ability to get the fuck out. He tried to sit up, but the size twelve Timberland boot Duke wore went straight to his face. The sound of my phone ringing interrupted us.
“Yes, ma’am?” I answered, putting the phone on speaker.
“Ava just woke up, she’s calling for you,” Big Momma spoke on the other end.
“I’m on my way back. Is she okay?” I asked, staring at Rob.
I squatted, getting close to eye level with this pussy.
“She woke up in a panic but I calmed her down. She’s fine, but you need to hurry back.”
“Alright, I’ll be there soon.” I ended the call.
Every once in a while, my baby would wake up having panic attacks. Doctors diagnosed it as PTSD.
My full attention was back on Rob.
“Aye, your deed is done, man. I appreciate you for fuckin up and handing Ava over to me. While you're lying here, turning into maggot food, I’ll make sure to forever give Savannah all the love she deserves from a real father. I’m even gonna change her last name to Whitmore.” I smirked.
Before I had Duke close his ass up, I picked up a bag I had Ace bring with him. Inside, was a rattle snake, curled up full of venom. Untying the bag, I stood over Rob and dumped the five foot serpent inside the box with him. The way that thing was about to tear his ass up put a smile on my face.
“Close this muthafucka up.” I instructed.
Rob hollered, too scared to actually move due to the snake being curled up at his feet.
None of that mattered as Duke placed the wooden top on the box, and Ace nailed it shut.
They both pushed the box toward the hole and allowed it to tip over inside.
We each had a shovel and started filling the hole back up as we listened to Rob’s screams get lower and lower.
By the time I pulled into the driveway, I’m sure he would be bitten up and dead. Fuck suffocating.
When I came back into the house, I found Big Momma sitting in the chair that was in the corner of our room. Ava lay in the bed, wrapped up in the covers. Hearing Big Momma move, she opened her eyes.
“I will see you in the morning.” Big Momma rubbed her hair.
Ava nodded with a small smile. Leaving the room, she patted my shoulder before saying goodnight. I closed the door, then stripped out of the clothes I had on. I needed to take a shower, but I had to make sure my lady was okay.
“You good?” I kneeled on her side of the bed.
“I woke up, and you were gone.”
“I had to go take care of something. I didn’t want to wake you.” I gently played with her hair.
“I thought you left me.” Her voice was almost childlike.
“Nah, never.” I smiled. “You don’t ever have to worry about that. I promise.” I kissed the tip of her nose.
Standing to my feet, I left her side, so I could take a quick shower.
After drying off, I threw on a pair of basketball shorts.
On the side of the bed, I sat and thought about my next move.
I opened the drawer on the bedside dresser and pulled out a small box.
I slid underneath the covers and faced Ava.
She lay curled up, looking at me with a smile.
I got closer to her and placed a kiss on her lips.
“I love you,” I told her.
“I love you too,” she surprisingly responded.
It seemed like a lifetime had passed since I’d heard those words come from her mouth.
“You do?” I raised my eyebrow with a smirk.
She nodded her head.
“How much?” I asked.
She giggled, moving her hand to stroke the side of my face. That shit felt so good.
“A lot.”
“A lot? Okay.” I nodded. “So, that means you love me enough to say yes?”
“Say yes to what?”
I held the small box in my hand and opened it, so she could see the thirty five carat emerald cut diamond ring inside.
Her words got caught in her throat as she stared at the ring.
I could feel her body shake, indicating how rattled her nerves were.
Tears welled in her eyes as she looked back and forth between me and the ring.
“Will you marry me?” I asked.
Suddenly, she burst into tears while covering her face. I sat up a little, moving her hand away to dry her wet cheeks. We were both silent for several seconds as my nerves were on edge. Finally, she looked at me with a smile and placed a kiss on my lips.
“Yes.” She smiled through the tears.
Her hand shook uncontrollably as I slid the ring onto her finger.
That wasn’t the way I planned to propose, but something in me said to go ahead and get it over with.
I didn’t need everybody around to witness me professing my love to her.
I felt the moment was special, with it being just me and her.
Shit, she finally told me she loved me again, and I knew we were about to be on the right track.
In my arms, I held her as she rested her head on my chest. My eyes began to get heavy as I lay staring up at the ceiling.
“Ethan,” she whispered.
“What’s up, bae?”
She didn’t say anything. She just sat up and looked at me. Her hair fell wildly in her face, so I gently tucked it behind her ear. Her eyes wandered around the room.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, concerned.
I heard her breathing heavily.
“Amore…” I sat up.
“I remember…” she whispered.
