Chapter 31

Kaia

I'm worn out pleasantly from my heat, every muscle in my body sore in the most satisfying way.

The last few days have been a blur of pleasure and need and overwhelming sensation, but now that my heat has finally broken completely, I'm left feeling boneless and content.

I stretch lazily against the sheets, feeling the pull of well-used muscles and the tender spots where my mates lavished particularly intense attention.

Sweet kisses from Zara wake me fully, her lips pressing gently to my forehead, my cheeks, the tip of my nose. "Good morning, beautiful," she murmurs. "How are you feeling?"

"Like I've been thoroughly loved," I admit with a sleepy smile. "Sore but happy."

Across the room, Alessia and Solace are dressing each other with soft conversation by the door.

Their voices are low and intimate, punctuated by quiet laughter and the rustle of fabric.

The silk gowns they're putting on are almost sheer, the material so fine I can see the outline of their bodies beneath.

The gowns shimmer in the morning light streaming through the windows, catching and reflecting it in subtle patterns.

Alessia's gown is a pale gold that complements her blonde hair and sun-kissed skin.

The fabric flows like water over her curves, elegant and sensual all at once.

Solace's gown is deep sapphire blue that makes her dark skin glow, the color bringing out undertones I've never noticed before.

They help each other with the delicate clasps at the shoulders, their movements comfortable and familiar in a way that makes warmth bloom in my chest.

"Are you ready for your ceremony, my love?" Zara asks, drawing my attention back to her.

I nod weakly, not entirely sure I'm ready but knowing it needs to happen.

My body is covered in love bites, marks from all three of my mates that stand out against my brown skin.

Some are faint pink, others deeper purple, a map of everywhere they kissed and claimed me during my heat.

I'm weak and sore, but there's something satisfying about wearing their marks so visibly.

Zara helps me sit up, supporting my back with gentle hands.

Then she produces a gown from somewhere beside the bed, holding it up for me to see.

It's shimmery silver, the fabric catching the light and throwing it back in waves that look almost liquid.

Like the others, it's see-through, leaving very little to the imagination.

"The ceremony will consist of you and Solace accepting your bond with the queens of Embrath," Zara explains as she helps me stand on shaky legs.

"We'll perform the ritual blessing in the throne room, speaking the traditional words that will join our souls together through magic.

Then we'll showcase our love for everyone in the courtyard. "

My stomach flips nervously. "Showcase our love? You mean..."

"The public claiming," Zara confirms gently. "The physical consummation happens in front of witnesses to prove the bond is complete. But it's not shameful, Kaia. It's celebrated, honored. Our people find joy in watching new bonds form."

I take a deep breath, trying to wrap my mind around this. Public consummation. In Valoria, such a thing would be scandalous, obscene. But I'm not in Valoria anymore. I'm in Embrath, where different rules apply, where pleasure isn't something to hide but something to celebrate.

"Well, I'm not going anywhere," I finally say, my voice coming out stronger than I feel. "If this is what needs to happen to make our bond official, then I'm ready."

Zara slides the silver gown over my head, the silk whispering against my skin.

It settles around my body like a second skin, conforming to every curve.

I can see everything through the fabric, every mark my mates left, every curve of my body.

It should make me feel exposed or vulnerable.

Instead, I feel powerful. Beautiful, even.

My mates come to me then, surrounding me. Alessia presses a soft kiss to my forehead, Zara claims my lips in a tender kiss, and Solace brushes her lips against my cheek. They touch me like I'm something precious, tears pricking at my eyes.

I turn to look at Solace, really look at her. She's been by my side for years, protecting me, caring for me, loving me even when we both knew it could never be more than it was. But now everything has changed. Now we can have what I always wished for but never dared to hope was possible.

"I never thought I'd get to truly have you," I say quietly, my voice thick with emotion.

"I always said you would be mine, but I never thought we'd actually get what I wished for.

But will you be mine forever, Sol? My Beta and my protector?

Will you stand beside me through everything that's coming? "

Solace offers me a soft smile, her eyes bright with unshed tears that mirror my own.

"I think I've always been yours, princess.

From the moment I was assigned to protect you, my heart knew you were mine to keep safe, to care for, to love.

But yes, I will be yours forever. You have my heart and my soul and my love.

I'm honored to spend forever with you, honored to be claimed as your mate, honored to call you mine in every way that matters. "

I pull her into a kiss, pouring everything I feel into it. Gratitude, love, desire, hope, all of it flowing between us in that moment. When we finally break apart, we're both breathless and grinning like fools.

Then I turn to face Zara and Alessia, my dragon queens who've given me everything I didn't know I needed. "I'm ready to show the people of Embrath that you will be my queens and my Alphas. That I choose you, that I want this bond, that I'm proud to be yours."

Zara and Alessia speak in perfect unison, their voices harmonizing in a way that sends shivers down my spine. "And we are ready to show them that both of you will be our mates and the start of our new family."

The four of us walk through the castle corridors together, servants stopping to stare as we pass, their expressions ranging from curiosity to delight to barely concealed excitement. Word has clearly spread that the ceremony is happening today, that the prophecy is finally being fulfilled.

We reach the throne room to find it already filled with people.

Dragons in human form pack the space, standing in rows that stretch back to the doors.

The air hums with their combined magic, thick and electric with anticipation.

At the front of the room, Elara waits beside our four thrones, her violet eyes twinkling with satisfaction.

"My queens," she greets us with a respectful bow. "And your new mates. The people of Embrath await."

Zara leads us to stand before the thrones.

Alessia takes her place beside Zara, both of them facing Solace and me.

The crowd falls silent, every eye fixed on the four of us.

I can feel their assessment, their curiosity, their hope.

They've waited centuries for this moment, and now it's finally here.

Elara steps forward, her voice carrying through the chamber with magical amplification.

"We gather today to witness the completion of an ancient prophecy.

The golden Omega has come at last, bringing with her a fierce Beta warrior.

Together with our queens, they will form a bond that will usher in a new era of prosperity for Embrath. "

The crowd murmurs in agreement, excitement rippling through them. Elara raises her hands for silence, and they quiet immediately.

"Kaia, daughter of Isolde, and Solace of Valoria, kneel before your queens."

Solace and I sink to our knees, our hands finding each other automatically. I'm trembling slightly, overwhelmed by the magnitude of what's happening. Solace squeezes my hand, grounding me.

Zara steps forward first, her voice resonating with power as she speaks. "By the ancient laws of our kind, by the magic that flows through dragon blood and binds us to one another, I declare this union blessed and sanctified."

The air around us begins to shimmer, visible threads of magic appearing. Golden light emanates from me, meeting the black and green that swirls from Zara. The threads intertwine, weaving together in patterns that feel both ancient and new.

Alessia speaks next, her voice carrying equal weight. "May your bond be strong as stone, may your passion burn eternal as dragonfire, may your love endure through all the ages to come."

Orange and red magic joins the pattern, Alessia's power adding another layer to the weaving. Then blue threads appear from Solace, her magic responding to the ceremony despite her being Beta rather than Alpha or Omega. The four colors dance together, creating something breathtakingly beautiful.

I can feel the magic sinking into my skin, into my bones, into my very soul.

It's warm and comforting and right, binding me to these three people in ways that go far deeper than any physical connection.

This is soul magic, the kind that transcends individual existence and creates something entirely new from four separate beings.

"Rise now as mates," Zara and Alessia say together, their voices harmonizing perfectly. "Joined in body and spirit, bound by choice and sealed by magic."

Solace and I stand together, still holding hands. The moment we're on our feet, Zara pulls me into a deep, claiming kiss that steals my breath. When she releases me, Alessia takes her place, her kiss equally intense. Then Solace kisses me before moving to kiss each of our queens in turn.

The magic swirls around all four of us now, the threads becoming so complex and intertwined that I can't tell where one ends and another begins. We're connected, truly and completely, in a way that can never be undone.

Zara lifts me into her arms suddenly, cradling me against her chest. "Now we go to the courtyard," she says, loud enough for the crowd to hear. "Where we will complete the physical bond that this magical ritual has begun."

The crowd erupts in cheers and applause, following us as Zara carries me through the corridors toward the courtyard. Alessia walks beside us with Solace, their hands linked, all of us processing toward what comes next.

"Long live our queens!"
