35. Jock

Life was funny sometimes. The way things worked out the way they were meant to.

I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face if someone paid me.

Looking around the lounge room of my youngest child’s house, I beamed at the vision in front of me. Everyone was happy and laughing and dancing around to Elvis and I was sitting back and soaking it all in.

Claudia and Josh were snuggled together swaying back and forth, my middle daughter finally ready to try to have a baby.

My eldest Elle, she had a ways to go before her smile was genuine and not the rehearsed one, she planted on her face, but that was okay with me for now. Jake’s shit was still too fresh, too raw but I had nothing but faith my Ellie would overcome.

My baby sitting on the lap of the man who came into her life at precisely the right time was finally free from the blasted family curse. I had nothing but respect for Jamison Jury, he was a good decent man, and I knew he could be trusted with Gisele’s fragile heart.

My wife. My beautiful stunning wife, the key to our family was busy fussing around in the kitchen bringing out food and drinks. Without her I shudder to think where I would be today. There was no one more perfect than my Georgina Grace.

Life was perfect. My family was unique, infuriating at times, and batshit crazy but that was just fine with me because today my perfect little granddaughter gave us all a present today.
