Flash Marriage Bet Exposed

Chapter 1 The Bet

I lost the bet with my colleagues.

She demanded I use President He's photo as my profile picture for a day.

After some haggling, I talked her down to just one hour and gritted my teeth to make the change.

Who knew that one hour later, President He's profile picture suddenly turned into mine.

“......” I went silent.

"Alright, today's meeting ends here."

As the department manager walked out of the conference room, everyone around me pulled out their phones to check the time.

"It dragged on by exactly 27 minutes. Who guessed closest just now?"

Jiang Xue jumped up excitedly, raising her hand.

"Me, me, me! I guessed 27 minutes!"

All eyes turned to her in an instant.

We had made a little wager earlier.

Our department manager was notorious for talking endlessly and running overtime, so we quietly bet on how long this supposedly 45-minute meeting would actually last.

Jiang Xue had won.

Her gaze swept over us, and she suddenly grinned.

"Sis Jiang, have mercy!"

"Little Xue, you know we're the closest, right?"

Everyone started pleading with her.

I couldn't bring myself to say anything.

Things between us had always felt a little awkward.

There was a project once that Jiang Xue really wanted, but the manager gave it to me instead.

I guessed she might think I had fought her for it behind her back.

Ever since then, I could sense her subtle hostility toward me.

Jiang Xue stood with hands on hips, pointing one by one.

"You—bring me breakfast for a day!"

"You—be my errand runner for a day!"

"And you—"

Right now Jiang Xue looked like an emperor deciding fates. Some of the pointed-at colleagues smiled—others paled.

Soon it was my turn.

I felt her eyes land on me and tensed without meaning to.

She gave a light laugh and said,

"You—use President He's photo as your profile picture for a day!"

I looked up at her in disbelief.

Before I could protest, colleagues already spoke up for me.

"Isn't that going too far? You could lose your job over this."

"Yeah, with President He's personality, who dares mess with him?"

"Better pick something else."

Jiang Xue frowned. "We agreed—wager's a wager. Why the special treatment when it comes to Sang Wan?"

I pressed my lips together and pleaded, "Can we change it to something else?"

"No way," she said firmly.

She looked at me. "Changing a profile picture is easy. You don't even have to do anything else. Don't act like you're getting the short end."

“......”

Changing a profile picture really was easy.

But the photo belonged to the company's biggest boss—He Yuheng—the one person you absolutely did not want to provoke.

Like everyone said, this could cost me my job.

Was this really me "getting the short end"?

I was still begging when Jiang Xue added,

"Besides, President He doesn't even know you. Do you have him added as a friend? Maybe no one will even notice after today... just play along."

Her last words were aimed at the others.

Some people started nodding or murmuring agreement.

"Yeah, Sang Wan doesn't even have President He added."

"Hardly anyone here has him added anyway. The danger is exactly because he's President He."

"But he's so busy—he probably won't even notice, right?"

Jiang Xue nodded. "Exactly. So go ahead and change it, Sang Wan. Be bold."

I was still hesitating.

The real problem was—I did have He Yuheng added.

I even had our marriage certificate.

I really was married to He Yuheng.
