8. Naomi
Chapter eight
Naomi
M y front door opening and closing wakes me from my nap. I stretch my arms over my head, feeling a delicious stretch in my pussy as Fred prances out to greet our favorite person in the whole world. The sound of Jameson’s voice as he talks to my dog has me grinning like a fool.
After our sweaty fuck-fest, Jameson had to go back out to the job site. He offered to call off, but I knew they were on a tight schedule. I promised I'd be here waiting for him when he was done, and he kissed me hard, pulling away with a growl.
When the front door closed, I was freezing without his body heat, so I grabbed a t-shirt and drifted off to sleep, his declarations of love still ringing in my ears. I’ll take every grumpy moment and growly response from Jameson because I know when a man like him falls in love, he means it.
I glance at the clock, realizing with a start that it's five o'clock at night and I'm starving. Sliding out of bed, I throw on some sweatpants and turn as heavy footsteps stop at the doorway.
"Naomi." Jameson gazes at me with so much love that it brings tears to my eyes. "I need you out of this annex so I can finish the job."
I laugh loudly at the shift in topic, and his grin lights up his whole face. He's gorgeous even as a growly grump, but oh my god, does that smile make me want to drop to my knees.
"I can take a hint," I tease, turning to pull the covers up on the bed. "Don't worry. I'm moving into the apartment over Aubrey's bakery soon. Max is getting it set up for me this weekend."
A growl sounds from behind me, and I turn quickly, letting out a startled yelp as Jameson pins me to the mattress.
"No." His gaze bounces to my mouth and back to my eyes as I stare up at him in bewildered surprise.
"What?"
"Marry me." He nods twice as I stare at him in shock. "I would be honored to be your husband."
My mouth opens and closes as I try to find my words. Finally, I squeak out a response. "We don't have to be engaged to move in together."
He slides down my body until his face is between my legs, taking my pants with him. His tongue licks a lazy path from my entrance to my clit, and I grip his hair, pulling him closer as I give in to the pleasure with a moan.
Apparently, he wants to talk about it later.
My phone pings twice with incoming messages, which I intend to ignore, but the hard case slides down by Jameson's arm when I writhe beneath him. When he moves it to the side, something catches his eye on my screen, and he pauses.
"What?" I ask, breathy and slightly irritated at whatever stopped him.
Jameson turns the phone so I can see the screen, and I laugh loudly.
Dane
Sounds like he's not that into you.
Time to move on.
"My brother doesn't have a romantic bone in his body." I grin up at Jameson, who raises his eyebrow in question. "I called him a few days ago when you ran out after the massage."
I run my hand underneath Jameson's shirt, tracing his six-pack with my fingers. Jameson catches my hand and holds it while he types something on my phone. I hear the little whoosh as he sends the message.
"What did you say to my brother?" I ask as his weight comes down on top of me.
Jameson kisses along my neck, and little goosebumps break out across my body.
"Just bringing him up to speed." Jameson dips his head, tugging at the hem of my shirt. He pauses suddenly, pulling my shirt tight so he can read it. "Goddamn it. Did Betty give you that shirt?"
"Yes." I grin. "And I can't wait to tell her she was totally right about you being a giver."
Jameson throws his head back with a boisterous laugh, and I vow to make that happen as often as I can for the rest of our lives.
"Jameson," I whisper, terrified that the sexy, growly man on top of me who loves control is going to panic about proposing to me. "We don't have to get engaged yet."
Jameson’s gaze flies to mine. "You need more time." His voice is understanding, but his eyes fill with worry.
"Uh, no." I laugh, and his face screws up in confusion. "I'm somebody who makes quick decisions and figures out the details later. You, however, are a thoughtful man who needs time." I cup his cheek, and he nuzzles my palm. "I don't want you to regret anything with me."
Jameson pulls back, the intensity in his eyes pinning me in place. "Listen to me, Naomi, and listen good. Not a bone in my body will ever regret you."
He bends, capturing my lips with his, kissing me so intently that I'm dizzy when he finally pulls back.
"I promised years ago never to make decisions based on fear. I worked all afternoon, telling myself not to propose to you. Not to scare you away, but I want to marry you, and I won’t wait because of fear that we're moving too fast."
I release a shaky breath and place a hand on each side of his face. "I love you, Jameson."
"I love you, Naomi," Jameson replies without a flicker of doubt.
"But," I say, wiggling up to a sitting position, "if you give me one more orgasm on an empty stomach, it might kill me."
Jameson's eyes light up, and he grins. "Well, we can't have that," he teases, nipping my ear playfully as he kisses my neck. "I'll take Fred out, and then we can go to Angelo's for dinner tonight. Does that work?"
"Yes." I nod enthusiastically and pull him back in for a kiss. "And yes. I will marry you."
Jameson lets out a whoop of joy and tackles me back on the bed, kissing me with all his heart. The gurgle of my stomach has him reluctantly pulling away.
"All right, new plan. Fred, dinner, courthouse."
"Hmm, no. My brother might actually kill you. He's got the skills."
Jameson raises his eyebrows.
I pat his shoulder. "I'll tell you about him at dinner."
Climbing off the bed, I open my suitcase, wondering if I have anything clean to wear tonight.
Strong arms wrap around me from behind. "I will make you want to marry me every day for the rest of our lives, Naomi."
I turn, tangling my fingers in the hair at Jameson's nape as his cock hardens against my stomach. "Well, maybe one quick orgasm won't kill me."
