Chapter Ten
Two Weeks Later
Leah sat at the bar, nursing a glass of water, while the barman Greg kept an eye on her. She had noticed Cain was doing this to her more and more. He’d take her with him on trips, but her presence at his side while he conducted business was becoming limited.
For tonight’s outfit, he’d insisted on dressing her in a close-fitting red dress that pushed her tits together, giving her impressive cleavage. Even she had admired the fit of the dress. It certainly made her tits look big, which she kind of liked.
She wore a nice pair of heels, a matching red pair that went with her outfit. Her blonde hair was down, she had minimal makeup on, and they were at a nightclub—one of his own—only this one played music that didn’t give her a headache. It was kind of sexy.
Glancing toward the dance floor, she saw the couples joined together, and they might not have been having sex but they were all thinking about it. Kind of like her with Cain. If she wasn’t thinking about having sex with him, then she was having sex with him. In the last two weeks, she had lost count of the number of times they had been together.
They had pretty much done it in every single room of the house, including the kitchen. She had a feeling that was why Frank sterilized the kitchen counters all the time. They even had sex in Cain’s office. That had been her fault. She walked into his office to help him with something. She didn’t even know what it was, and it ended up with her bent over his desk, her pencil skirt to her waist, and he was deep inside her.
She loved it when he commanded her to do what he wanted. There was something sexy when he gave her orders.
They had also had sex in the pool, in his car, and at one of his casinos.
Leah didn’t know where they found the additional time, but it had been an incredible two weeks.
Frank asked her if she’d told Cain how she felt. No. There was no way she was going to tell Cain how she felt. There was a big chance he didn’t feel the same way, and then she would have ruined a good thing.
She didn’t know what Cain’s goal was. When he offered her the chance of death or working for him, there hadn’t been a deadline. She didn’t know how this was going to end between them. Would he send her on her way? Put her to work elsewhere? Kill her? Keep her?
She didn’t have any of the answers, and the truth was, she didn’t want to ruin what they currently had. It was special.
She wrinkled her nose, as she didn’t know if it really was special or not.
“What’s wrong?” Cain asked, startling her.
She’d been so distracted by her own thoughts, she hadn’t seen him arrive. Usually, she kept an eye on everything to know when he was around.
“Nothing.”
“You were shaking your head. Has someone pissed you off?” Cain asked, and glanced around the club.
Leah knew she was going to have to face the reality of whatever his answer would be, but that wasn’t going to be in this moment.
“You,” Leah said.
Cain returned his gaze to her. “What?”
“You’ve pissed me off. You and only you,” she said. She might as well come clean. She was pissed that he was taking her to do business but then leaving her behind.
“Care to elaborate?” he asked.
She glared at him and then got to her feet and reached for his hand. If he thought they were going on the dance floor, then he was very much mistaken. She was not dancing with him.
Moving past the dance floor, she took the door that stated it was for staff only, and then walked him back up to his office. She ignored the staff they passed, and the moment they were inside, she turned and locked the door.
“If you wanted me alone, all you had to do was say so,” Cain said.
“This isn’t funny. This isn’t even a joke. What are you doing?” she asked.
Cain looked at her, and she watched the smile leave his lips, which she hated, but this needed to be said. She folded her arms across her chest, and waited.
“I need more information, Leah,” he said.
She took a deep breath. She was not the kind of woman to cause a scene, or to express unnecessary hurt. She pointed to her outfit and then toward the main window that overlooked the club. Cain did this to all his nightclubs. He saw the club, but the people didn’t see him.
“This,” she said. “Why have you dressed me up like this and then brought me here?” she asked.
She was so very close to stomping her foot, but she was able to control herself.
“Do you not like the dress?” Cain asked.
“It’s not about liking it or not. I want to know why you did it?” she asked. “What happened? You were quite happy to have me with you when you were punishing those that stepped out of line or threatened you. I saw you kill, and now what?” She dropped her hands to her side. “What am I right now?”
Cain looked at her and frowned.
“I don’t get what happened.” She hated that she even had to ask this.
“You’re upset?”
She didn’t agree with him and instead waited to find out what he had to say for himself.
“Nothing has happened,” Cain said, and he moved closer toward her.
“Then why?”
“I had to test you,” he said.
“Test me?”
“To see if I could trust you.”
She stared at him and frowned. “What?”
“You attacked my son, yet you didn’t go to the cops. I offer you either the choice of death or to come and work for me, and you jump at the chance. I had to know why.”
“You thought I was a snitch?” She shook her head. “That makes no sense. The cops are in your pocket.”
“Some cops are in my pocket, Leah, but there are those who would love to see the end of me.” He took another step toward her. “I had to know if one of them had gotten to you.”
“I don’t trust cops,” she said.
“I know that now, but I didn’t then.”
“And now?”
“I know I can trust you, and sometimes I don’t want you to see what I’m capable of.” He reached out and cupped her cheek. She stared up into his eyes and saw the sincerity looking back at her. Cain wasn’t lying.
She closed the distance between them, but she didn’t immediately do what she wanted. She pressed her face against his chest, breathing in his scent. Leah loved the way he smelled. It was so masculine and fresh, and yet not heavy at all.
Putting her hands on his waist, she started to walk him back, taking her time, and then she pushed him just a little, and he landed on his ass on the only sofa in his office. She didn’t give him time to question.
The dress she wore was indecent, and as she moved to straddle his waist, the large slit in the side of the dress allowed her to spread her legs open. With her cunt pressed against the hard ridge of his cock, she couldn’t help but moan as he hit that spot close to her pussy. Even though she wore panties, the angle of her thighs spread the lips of her sex open, and she was able to feel him between her slit, and it drove her crazy.
She cupped his face and then kissed him hard.
Cain’s hands landed on her ass before sliding up toward her hips. He held onto her, and then brought her down. The friction between them felt so good. She didn’t want him to stop, not even for a second.
Breaking the kiss, she couldn’t contain her pleasured cries, and his name spilled from her lips.
He wasn’t finished, as his lips trailed toward her neck, then down even further. She heard her zipper opening, and she whimpered as within seconds, he had her dress down to her waist, the bra she wore completely off, and his lips were on one of her tits. She didn’t want him to stop.
Cain lathered one nipple, biting down onto the bud, and then soothing out the short bite of pain before he moved onto the next nipple. Another moan escaped her as the pleasure seemed to go straight to her pussy.
She rode down on his cock, wanting to feel him inside her. Leah reached for his belt and started to tug at it. She didn’t know how she managed, but she was able to work the belt loose.
Cain stopped sucking her tits, and his grip went back to her waist as he helped her to move up and then slid her into place. He held the base of his cock, and she worked her pussy right over the tip, and then, inch by inch, she sunk down onto his dick.
They both moaned together.
“You feel so fucking good,” he said.
She stayed perfectly still, just basking in the pleasure of his cock being balls-deep within her. The way his hands slid across her ass, then down toward her cheek, and then to her hips. It made her gasp and writhe against him.
She didn’t know who lost patience first, herself or Cain, or perhaps they started to move together. He thrust up his pelvis and she pressed down, slamming onto his cock. She held onto his shoulders, using the leverage to help her ride his cock. It felt so good, the pleasure so intense.
Driving up and down his length, she stared into his blue eyes, and she knew there was never going to be any other man for her. She found her man—Cain Knox, a man old enough to be her father—but she didn’t care. She loved him and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him, but how was she going to tell him?
****
“It’s not like you to want to meet in public,” Cain said, pulling out of a seat in Cameron’s café.
There was already a coffee waiting for him, and he looked over at Frank to see the other man had this giant smile on his face. He didn’t realize how unhappy his friend and chef had been until he saw him in that moment.
“You’re looking good,” Cain said.
“I know we could have talked back at the house, but work always gets in the way. I have a job to do, and so do you.”
Cain nodded. “Still, it doesn’t stop us from sharing a coffee, or talking, or whatever.” He didn’t want to come to this café, not because he had anything against it, he didn’t. Cameron Pierce had turned out to be one of the rare gems, like Leah. She worked hard and had simply fallen on bad times. It sucked.
Life handed people harsh deals, but it was rare for them to be able to do anything about it. Cameron had taken a gamble on her café, and it seemed to be working for her.
“I know, but I’ve also got a date with Cameron once she closes, and besides, she makes the best coffee.”
“Do you get a boyfriend discount?” Cain asked, picking up his coffee and blowing across the top of the drink.
Frank chuckled. “Yeah, I do, but it is still pretty good coffee.”
Cain couldn’t deny it as he took a generous sip. It was fucking hot, though. Hotter than he thought it was going to be, but he didn’t fan his face. Showing weakness was not something he was known for. He didn’t know who was watching him. Enemies were always lurking.
“You know, I never got to thank you for what you did,” Frank said.
“We don’t need to talk about it,” Cain said.
Frank nodded and raised his hands as if he was showing a peaceful offering. “I know, I know, but that’s the point, isn’t it?”
Cain put his coffee down and sat back in his chair, looking over at his friend. “What is?”
“You didn’t have to do that. I was going to be locked up and forgotten about. You didn’t owe me anything.”
“You watched my back.”
“And you took care of mine,” Frank said. “Most people would have considered that an equal debt.”
“What can I say, I’m not most people.”
Frank smiled. “I know why she likes you.”
This time, Cain frowned. “What?”
The smile turned into a full-on chuckle.
“Leah,” Frank said.
“I pay her to.”
Frank tutted. “You can make all the pretense you want, it doesn’t change what happened. You’re a good guy.”
“I don’t need to remind you that I am anything but.”
“I know you have a reputation, and you’re not going to do anything to change it, but I also know in a strange kind of way you believe in justice.”
Cain smiled this time and picked up his coffee. “I deliver justice.”
“Exactly. You knew my story, and yet you dealt with it, so I wasn’t locked up for life. You helped me. You righted another person’s wrong, and for that I will forever be in your debt, just like I am for bringing Cameron back to me.”
“Don’t,” Cain said, holding up his hand. “I was happy to leave her memory in the past. It was Leah who insisted we find her.”
There was that smile again on Frank’s face.
“And you went to help her.”
“Leah works for me, and she’s pretty good at what she does,” Cain said.
“And what does she do exactly?” Frank asked.
Cain stared at him for several seconds. “Her job.”
“Ah, you see, this is the thing, I’ve been watching her do her job, and all she does is wear the clothes you ask her to wear, and accompany you wherever you want to go. She has become a deterrent for women.”
“See, she is doing her job.”
Frank tutted. “No, I think it is more than that, and you know it as well.”
“What I know is that I’ve got work to do. If this is where you’re about to tell me you quit, I don’t accept it.”
“I’m not quitting and you can run from the truth all you want. It’s not going to change the facts.”
Cain took another sip of his coffee, because it was delicious. He was happier knowing Frank had no intention of quitting, because he didn’t want to have to find another chef, nor did he want to survive on takeout. Leah could cook, but he liked having her at his side every chance he could get.
“You’re in love with Leah,” Frank said.
“Friend or not, I can still kill you.”
This brought a chuckle from Frank. “You could do that if you wanted to, but I don’t know why you would.”
“I didn’t know we had entered the territory of talking about our feelings. When did that happen?” Cain asked.
“Simple. When you found the love of my life, and when the love of your life beat the crap out of your son and entered yours.”
Cain stared at Frank. “Be careful.”
“Why? Because it’s the truth, and the truth scares you?”
“Love is a weakness.”
“So you see Leah as weak?” Frank asked.
Cain finished his coffee. “I think it is time for me to go.”
“There’s nothing wrong with being happy,” Frank said. “Leah told me that. I know she’s young, and that probably terrifies you, but she loves you. I have a feeling that woman would die for you.” Frank laughed. “I know she hates when women flirt with you. It drives her fucking crazy.”
He had every intention of standing up and leaving, but now as he listened to Frank talk about Leah, he just couldn’t resist and he found himself siting his ass right back down in his chair and looking at his friend.
“Ah, I have gained your attention.”
“If this is just bullshit—”
“It’s not, and when did you become so cynical?”
“Look around you. The world makes sure you know how it works. I’m not here to make friends with anyone.” He had no doubt the world was only happy to fuck with everyone. They were all handed their cards at birth, and expected to play them out.
“But knowing Leah is in love with you matters, doesn’t it?” Frank asked.
“She’s too young to know what love is.”
Frank laughed. “You’re wrong, and stop being a dick and fighting it. In case you haven’t looked in the mirror lately, you and I are not getting any younger, and I can promise you, the last twenty years of my life have been miserable without Cameron.”
“And you’ve spent them close to me, so I must make your life miserable,” Cain said.
“Sometimes you do. You’re a pain in the ass.”
He blew his friend a kiss.
“But it doesn’t mean you have to be alone. I know who you are, I know what you are, and I know what you’re capable of doing.”
“Your point?” Cain asked.
If this had been anyone else, he would have been long gone by now, but because it was his friend, he was giving him the benefit of the doubt. Also, he talked about Leah, and that woman had him in some kind of choke hold. He needed to know every single detail about her.
Cain wondered if that would ever change.
“Simple, so does Leah, and she didn’t run away. She didn’t try to abandon you. She stuck by your side. She has not run away screaming like other women would. You love her, and she loves you, so get your head out of your ass and do something about it before it is too late.”
