Chapter 8

FOOL

The last thing I should be doing is kissing April, but seeing her again, I couldn’t stop myself. I needed a taste, and with that one taste of her, there’s no way I’ll ever be able to stop. The taste of her lips, fuck, there’s nothing like it. Could anything be better?

I highly doubt it.

With her straddling my lap, I do what I want with her.

I want April to feel that I want her. The feel of her over me like this is a definite bonus.

I want her to know I’m not here because of a request from Twister or Horse, but for her.

After leaving the Devil’s Riot MC clubhouse yesterday, I couldn’t stop thinking about her.

About what she might be going through. About the fact that she left.

It didn’t sit well with me, and I wanted nothing more than to come straight here, but I’d been waiting until this morning.

This morning, after I got to town, I watched her leave her apartment. I saw her walking in the rain. I followed her as she went to the library. None of it sat well with me, and it still doesn’t. Not with the way she kept her head down, as if she didn’t want anyone to notice her.

While she’d been in the library, I’d taken a walk around campus, while Hazard stayed close to the library to keep an eye out for when she left. The campus is larger than I’d originally thought. However, I’d been able to spot several guys who were watching April.

Without them seeing me, I’d taken pictures of their faces and sent them straight to Rimfire, asking him to check who they were. I needed to know if they were a threat to her. The way they watched her and took pictures didn’t sit well with me.

By the time April finally made her way back home, I’d only been sitting on her steps for a couple of minutes.

I’d gotten to enjoy watching her come around the corner, seeing her walking toward me, and, even better, the look in her eyes when she saw me, like she couldn’t even believe I was sitting there.

With her in my lap now, there’s no way she can miss it.

The decision I made when I left the Devil’s Riot MC clubhouse yesterday meant I wasn’t just going to see what was going on around here.

I wasn’t going to simply take her back. No, I decided she was going to be mine.

The two of us might not know shit about each other, but that didn’t matter.

One look, and she’d gotten to me. There’s no way I can’t go after her. Make her mine.

April squirms in my arms, her pussy grinding against me, her hands in my hair.

Fuck. I want to take her right here just like this. Slide right inside her and feel the sweet heat of her clenching around my cock. But I know we don’t have much time before . . .

The knock on the door comes, and I groan, not wanting the moment interrupted. I knew I should have waited to touch April, but I couldn’t help myself.

April pulls away, panting, her hands sliding from my hair to press against my chest. “I better get that.”

“I’ll get it,” I tell her, cupping her sweet ass in my hands. I flip her off me and onto her back, then grind into her. “It’s Hazard.”

“Hazard?” April blinks, furrows her cute little brows, and looks confused for a moment. “Your brother?”

“Yeah, gorgeous. Just so you know, he knows it was your idea, the mousetraps in his bed.” Grinning at her, I dip down and kiss her again before getting to my feet.

“How do you know it was my idea?” she blurts, scrambling behind me. “What is he doing here?”

“He was standing next to me when Mercy let it slip that you were hiding something that was happening here at school.” I shrug.

“I’m going to kill her,” I hear her mumble, most likely to herself.

“No reason to kill your friend. I don’t think she was thinking clearly, considering I found her and Hazard alone together.”

“Oh, God. Mercy is going to end up getting some guy killed,” she mumbles more, causing me to laugh as I open the door.

“What’s so funny?” Hazard asks, stepping inside, eyes flicking between the two of us.

“Nothing,” April and I say in unison.

I snort, shake my head, and repeat myself, “Nothing, brother.”

“What’s so funny?” April asks with a huff.

Still smiling, I turn to her and answer. “What you said a minute ago, gorgeous, is fuckin’ funny. I couldn’t agree more. Just think about what you said and how true it probably is.”

April blinks up at me for a moment before she loses her frown and laughs.

“Now, I wanna know what the fuck she’s laughing about,” Hazard quips, stepping farther into the apartment.

“Nothing to worry about, Haz,” I say with a chuckle.

April sobers and looks between the two of us.

“So, is someone going to tell me what exactly is going on?” She looks at me with those lust-filled eyes of hers, now full of caution.

“What exactly are you doing here? I don’t want to hear lies either.

Why did Twister ask you to come here? I know it was him. ”

“Told you outside, and I wasn’t lying, April,” I tell her.

“Given what just happened on the couch minutes ago, I thought you’d get me.

” I keep my cool and do my best not to get annoyed that she’d think I’d lie to her.

I get that she doesn’t know me, but after the kiss we shared, I need her to believe this one thing about me.

Even annoyed, I can understand her caution. The rational side of my brain, the part of me that isn’t thinking with my dick, gets it.

“I don’t need you to remind me of us making out on my couch,” she snaps, hands on her hips, eyes narrowing.

“For the record, I didn’t say you were lying.

I said, ‘I don’t want to hear lies either,’ so you can lose that tone of voice.

I didn’t say or do anything to annoy anyone.

Let alone tick anyone off. If anyone did, it would be you. ”

April lets out another huff, drops her arms to her sides, spins on her heels, and stalks over to her bags, grabbing a ringing phone. I hadn’t even heard the phone.

Fuck me. This woman is in my head, consuming my thoughts. Screwing with my head so much I can’t think straight.

I focus on April, watching her closely as she looks at her phone. The way her expression loses all frustration and goes completely blank alerts me to something happening.

“Who was that?” I ask, stepping toward her.

April shakes her head and answers, “No one.”

I glance at Hazard and shake my head when he goes to speak.

“Why don’t you head back to the clubhouse? I’ll be right behind you soon. Meet you there.”

“You sure about that?” Hazard asks, one brow raised.

Was I?

No, I wasn’t, but when it comes to this whole situation, I have to be careful and not rush her.

“Yeah,” I grit out, nodding.

I know I can get April to open up to me about everything going on, but it won’t happen if we have an audience. One thing I’m certain about is that this woman is the type of person who shyly avoids crowds as much as she can. She’s cautious and doesn’t open up to anyone unless she wants to.

“Right.” Hazard nods, looking between the two of us. “I’ll see you back at the clubhouse then.” I know he didn’t want to leave, not after witnessing April’s quick change, but it’s for the best.

If I want to get through to her, I need to do it myself. She’ll listen to me, I’m sure of it.

The moment the door closes behind Hazard, April glances my way. “You should go with him.”

“Why’s that?” I ask, watching her closely, noticing how she’s shutting down.

“Because I said you should,” she snaps, turns away, and starts moving toward her kitchen.

“Who was on the phone, April?” I snap out.

“As I said, no one,” she answers without turning around.

I wasn’t playing this game. No way in hell am I playing this shit with her. She’s not gonna shut down on me, not after how hot she got for me while my mouth was on hers.

Crossing the room to follow her, I trap her against the kitchen counter.

“Back off,” she snaps, her hands pressing against my chest.

“Who was on the phone?” I repeat, dipping my head to run my nose along her cheek.

“No one,” she breathes and rasps. “Are you going to leave?”

“I’m not going to leave,” I whisper into the shell of her ear. “No way am I leaving after just a taste of what we shared.”

“I can’t do that again.”

“Why?” I lift my head enough to look down at her.

“I just can’t,” April utters, shaking her head, not looking at me.

“Why’s that?” If it has to do with what’s going on with her here at school, I can wear her down.

“I just can’t, okay,” she suddenly shouts, shoving against me, but I don’t budge. I also don’t buy it.

“I’m not gonna ask again, April, and I’m not dropping it. So, you might as well answer the damn questions. Why the hell can’t you?”

“Because I’m a virgin,” she screams, shoves me again, this time pushing me just enough to slide out, and I let her.

A virgin?

There’s no fucking way. She’s gorgeous, beautiful beyond any other woman. Nevertheless, she’s a virgin.

She thinks she can’t continue what we started earlier because of this snippet? Or does she think she can’t do it because I’ll push her and take what she’s not ready for? If that’s the case, she’s going to have to learn. That’s not the type of man I am.

So fuckin’ what? She’s a virgin.

Means . . .

Fuck me, I know what it means. No one has ever gotten in there.

Means April’s untouched. She’s clean.

Purely innocent in every way.

And she’s gonna be mine.

All I need to do is simply make it so that she understands exactly what that means.
