That was Divya,” Luke told Sol as they were walking through the Palma airport a couple of days later, and after he’d just finished a call with his work partner.
“She just met with Meshflixx. They were ecstatic with our work on the Pascual case.” Luke rolled his eyes.
“And they just offered us a huge contract.”
“A contract?” Sol asked, as they stopped in front of one the shops at the airport that sold books and snacks.
Luke sighed. “A big one. One we can’t hardly say no to.
” He was perfectly aware he and Divya hadn’t been exactly thrilled during their latest case working for the streaming giant.
But what they were offering them now was steady money, and a lot of it, every month, just to make sure the detectives would take care of all of their investigative needs—which happened to be not insignificant.
That would throw the agency in the paths of other rich clients and make him and Divya financially secure.
A weight lifted off his chest just by knowing he would not have to worry about money, both for himself, and for Sol, his future wife.
Perhaps he was being a bit old-fashioned, and he had no intention of mentioning that to Sol, he still felt reassured in knowing money would not be an issue.
Sol
“I’m so happy for you guys!” She hugged him in the middle of the store. Took the opportunity of inhaling his musky, lavender smell. “And I’m relieved.”
He arched one of his eyebrows. “Relieved?”
“You know. I made you leave home in London. Dragged us all the way to Barcelona. And then, the day before we were supposed to go back, we ended up stuck in my hometown because the actor I interviewed disappeared. It’s such a relief that Leonardo is okay.
I don’t know if you read the article Divya sent us, but he went public with Sandro’s relationship. ”
“I saw the pictures. They look good together,” Luke had to admit.
Sol practically melted. There was nothing that moved her more than when Luke showed vulnerability.
“Awe. They do! I’m so happy for Sandro. He won’t be doing the new run of El bano de Edipo in the end, he was offered a role in The Single Dad Situation by Jasper.
” It was a big opportunity for the young actor.
“Isabel must be fuming,” Luke chuckled. He took his hand to Sol’s waist, splaying his fingers against her back. The contact was heady even through the fabric of her T-shirt.
“She probably is,” Sol muttered. But she meant to tell Luke something else. “But I’m mostly relieved because we’re finally going back home. I know you miss London.”
“Sol, bella, I’ve been home this whole time. I was with you.”
