Chapter 10
Chapter Ten
CHARLOTTE
Monday at school was interesting, to say the least. Travis made sure he picked me up and we arrived together, him taking my hand and walking us through the car park and into the school like we’d always done that. Of course, whispers surrounded us as we walked by, curious glances and gasps ringing out, but nothing could have prepared us for the fucking clapping that started when he kissed me at my locker. Literal clapping. Mostly the football team, a few of my friends, and of course, Suzie at the helm of it all.
“You guys are so fucking cute it’s sickening,” she says as she throws her arms around each of our shoulders and laughs.
“Guess we have you to thank for spreading the word, huh?” I ask her, a smirk on my face.
“Don’t know what you’re talking about,” she says as she lets go of us and flounces away, before turning back and telling us, “Oh, and Ryder won’t be coming back. He got kicked out.”
“Seriously?” I ask, because wouldn’t I have heard something about it before now, what with me being part of the reason he’s gone? Well, I’m assuming I am, anyway.
“Yup. His mum called mine to try and make excuses for him, she was doing the rounds last night to save face, but I guess you two were left off the to-be-called list,” Suzie says, shocking me further. “My mum put the phone down on her and proceeded to make a few calls of her own.”
“Oh my god,” I say, as Suzie laughs at my reaction.
“I’d say he got his comeuppance, wouldn’t you? I would have called last night and told you, but I thought I’d keep that surprise for today, good start to the week and all,” she says, and then the corridor goes deathly quiet all of a sudden. Everyone turns to watch Melanie walk in, her face red with embarrassment, or shame, or possibly both. She doesn’t even raise her head as she walks past us and to her locker along the other end, her so-called friends even giving her a wide berth.
“I’d say someone else got their comeuppance too,” Suzie comments, and then she’s walking off as the bell chimes to signal lessons are about to begin.
“Wow, what a morning already, huh?” I say to Travis as he moves one of his arms over the top of me, leaning it on the lockers behind. Fucking hell, such a simple move but so sexy.
His other hand comes up and cups my face as he kisses me hard.
“Fucking great day if you ask me,” he says, making me smile.
“It really is.”
“See you at lunch.” He places one last kiss on my lips before he winks and walks away, my eyes zeroing in on his fine arse, knowing that this is just the start of our beautiful journey.
