Chapter 8
VANCE
The image of Delta crying is the single most painful thing I could ever witness.
I take her in my arms, my gaze darting up and down the street, looking for whoever might have hurt her.
Fuck, I shouldn’t have left her by herself.
Did someone break into the house? Did they wound her in some unfixable way?
“What’s wrong?” I mumble, despair filling my chest. “What happened? Are you hurt?”
She shakes her head, body quivering with soul-wrenching sobs.
I can’t understand. She doesn’t look hurt.
What happened? Why is she crying this hard?
I slip an arm under her knees and bring her up against my body, striding to my front door and unlocking it.
I take her inside and make my way to my bedroom, sitting her down on my lap as her sobs become sniffs.
Folding my arms around her, I rock her until she calms down, her fingers reaching for my chest, fisting over my heart. “Are you alright?” I ask, fear still trembling in my voice.
She nods, pulling back to look into my eyes. “Vance, I... I’m such an idiot.”
“What are you talking about?”
She swallows, sitting up straighter. I brush her tears away, but her eyes are red from the pain. “I woke up, and there was no sign of you. No note and your car wasn’t there, and the ring!” She shows her hand, devoid of rings. “The ring is gone!”
I grip her fingers and bring them to my lips. “Yes, I took the ring with me.”
“Where were you?” she pleads, eyes wide.
Oh, fuck. Was I the one who made her hurt?
Was it because I didn’t tell her I was leaving?
Shit, I should have told her. I should have told her I would come back, so she wouldn’t have to worry.
She woke up, missed me, and then, as she went to look for me and saw the car gone, she thought I had left for real. Without even talking to her.
I tighten the embrace, kissing the top of her head. “I’m so sorry, my love. Shit, I’ve never had a relationship, so I didn’t think it was necessary to... No, no excuses. There are no excuses for what I did. I’m so fucking sorry for making you hurt like this. I’m an idiot.”
She takes a couple of breaths to calm down, then opens a small smile. “No, you’re not an idiot. This is on me. I’m the one who overreacted. I thought you had left for real.”
“And you had reason to. You didn’t find my car; there were no notes.” I shake my head, then take her hand in mine and press it to my chest. “I’m so sorry, Delta. This won’t happen again. I’ve never been in a relationship, and I’ll have to learn how to act right. How to be a better man for you.”
She snugs into my lap, lips brushing my jaw. “You’re already perfect for me. But... a relationship? Are you sure that’s what you want?”
“With you? I want everything.” And I feel it. It’s the right moment. Certainty buzzes in my bones, my heart growing in my chest. I dig a hand into my back pocket and fish out the velvet box, showing it to her. “Here’s proof.”
She arches an eyebrow. “The ring?”
I sit her on the mattress and get down on one knee.
Delta blinks in confusion. I open the box, showing her the new ring.
“You said you preferred something smaller, so I called the jeweler so he would open earlier today, and I got a new one. If you’d like to choose by yourself, I’ll get you another one.
You say it, and I’ll do it, my love. Anything. ”
Her delicious lips part. She swallows hard, eyes darting between my face and the ring. “You didn’t have to. We’re not going to get married for real.”
I take a breath. “Delta. I want to get married. With you. For real. You’re the one person who changed my mind about everything. You taught me about love. God, you made me a better person in the matter of a week, without even trying. I want to spend all my days with you. Will you marry me?”
Delta gasps. “Are you serious?” she asks, covering her mouth with her hands.
“I am. I love you. Why would I waste any more time?”
“But we barely know each other.”
“We have love. And love will make everything else easy.”
Her eyes veil over. She nods, a beautiful smile blooming on her face as she throws her arms around my neck. I hug her close, slip the ring onto her finger, then kiss her face. Emotion fills me, overflowing, making me want to float. Delta turns her head and stamps her lips on mine.
I kiss her, hard and long. My fiancé. My future wife. Our kiss grows heated with every swipe of tongue, and I sit her on my lap, legs straddling me. Delta circles her hips against my hardness, teasing me. Fuck, I can’t wait to have her.
I break the kiss, searching for her eyes. “We don’t need to do this,” I tell her. “There’s no rush.” Even though I want her more than anything else.
She smiles, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Oh, but there is.” Her hands feel up my chest, curling around the strands of my hair. “I’m starved for you.”
We kiss again. I knead on her thick thighs, the softness of her skin so at odds with the roughness of my palms. Delta sighs against the kiss, so I take the caress to a higher level, parting her knees and stroking a thumb up and down her center.
Her sighs become moans as she moves against me, her panties growing slick.
Lust courses through my body, making my blood boil.
I desperately need to taste her again. I need her on my tongue.
Gripping her hips, I sit her on the mattress and make quick work of my clothes. Delta shoots to her feet, doing the same with hers. She stands there, naked and glorious in her full curves, her softness. My cock twitches in greeting, and I rush to lie on the bed and tug her with me.
“Sit on my face,” I tell her, my voice coming out raspy with an order.
She kneels next to my body, arching an eyebrow. “No. I’m too heavy.”
“Do it, Delta. Now. I need you to ride my face.”
Her eyes burn with lust, so she throws a leg over my head and hovers over my face.
Her core glistens with desire, and goosebumps race down her body as my breath touches her more sensitive parts.
I sink my fingers into her hips and force her down on my face, her lower lips parting for my tongue.
Delta shudders, hands shooting down to grip my hair.
I lap at her, whipping my tongue up and down, then in circles, until she cries in insane pleasure.
She bucks against my face, the tip of my nose buried in her soft hairs.
I take deep breaths of her smell, my balls growing so heavy I’m afraid I’ll come undone too soon.
Delta rides me until her climax explodes. She shakes with the aftershocks, then moves faster than I’d like. She straddles my hips, sitting on top of my hardness with a look of pleasure on her face. Leaning, she kisses me.
I fist her hair and flick her nipples, but Delta’s focused on teasing me. She moves against my member, her juices coating me thoroughly, making the glide easy.
“Fuck,” I hiss against her lips. “You’ll drive me mad.”
“Good,” she purrs, her voice pure lust.
“No, not good. How am I going to fuck you if you make me come too early?”
She bites her bottom lip, the sexiest image I’ve ever had the honor to see.
“Leave that to me.” Delta reaches between her legs, and I catch sight of the ring on her finger.
She’s mine. She’ll always be mine. Her nimble fingers curl around the head of my member and she pushes it against her entrance.
God, she’s so tight for a moment that I don’t think it’s going to happen.
But Delta is warm, slick, and her hips circle until I pop inside her.
She grinds her teeth together, her eyes fluttering closed with pain.
I grip her thighs, about to tell her I don’t want her to hurt, but Delta ignores me.
She takes me in to the hilt, sitting down and taking a deep breath.
Her inner walls adjust around me, and she starts to move.
Delta is perfect. She’s everything I’ve ever wanted and never knew.
She bounces on my lap, picking up speed as she finds her confidence.
Eyes fluttering back open, she gapes at me with fire in her orbs, her pretty breasts moving with the rhythm.
Pleasure is the only thing I feel, spreading through my body, occupying my head.
I don’t know what to look at—her breasts, swaying, my member disappearing inside her, the way she looks at me.
Everything is too much, like an out-of-body experience.
“I love you so fucking much,” I tell her just as pleasure tightens inside me like a rope about to snap. Gripping her hips, I raise mine from the bed and take control over our sex. I fuck her from below, sharp pounds, one after the other, and Delta has to brace against my chest not to fall over.
“I love you, too,” she replies, her voice breaking, her eyes rolling to the back of her head. “So, so m—” Her voice breaks, and she screams in pleasure, her walls clamping down around me. And that’s too much.
Pleasure barrels down my spine, too fast, too hot, and I burst inside her. She takes everything, milking me empty, and as I’m buried deep inside her, I know we’re not done yet.
Delta lies down on her side, looking at me with her chest heaving. I bury my hands in her hair and kiss her hard, then turn us so I can take her again.
She smiles. “Already? I thought you could only come once.”
I thought so, too, but this woman just keeps surprising me. She changes everything, even the way my body reacts. “No way,” I breathe out, kneeling between her legs, peering at the white seeping from inside her. “I want you passing out from too many orgasms.”
She laughs. “Challenge accepted... Fiancé.”
And I smile. Truly, truly smile, like never before. She’s everything I need. My love. My one true love.
