Forbidden Desire (Desire #2)

Forbidden Desire (Desire #2)

Prologue

“Come on, love, I promise they’re all really nice.” My daddy says as he pulls me along behind him.

We’re almost at my daddy’s new girlfriend’s house.

I have met her a few times, and she seems nice.

She always brings me my favourite chocolate bar whenever she comes by.

Today I have to meet with her children, but I don’t want to.

I’m so scared in case they’re mean. Boys are always mean.

There is a boy in my class called Jonny Gray, and he is the biggest meanie ever.

He calls me names because I have orange hair, but it’s only a little bit orange. At least I don’t smell like he does.

We’re almost at the front door now. My tummy is doing backflips the closer we get.

I’m so nervous, I cross my arms to hide how much I’m shaking, when the door finally swings open.

But it isn’t Lizzy, a boy is standing at the door with the biggest smile I have ever seen.

He is coated head to toe in dirt. He’s wearing a bright green football kit, so he mustn’t have got changed yet from playing.

“Hi Lucy!” He exclaims, his messy dark brown hair flopping into his eyes. “I’m your new big bro. Wanna play with us in the garden? The others are waiting for us.” He looks so happy.

I turn to look at my dad with wide eyes. What do I do? Do I go with them? He seems okay, but what about the other two?

“Go on, princess. Go and play. I’ll call you when lunch is ready.” My dad says cheerily.

“Yay! Come on, Lucy!” The boy grabs my hand and all but drags me through the house.

It’s so colourful. All the walls are painted in bright colours and there are toys scattered all over the floor.

“You are going to love it here. We have loads of fun games out for you. My mum said you’re shy, but she also said no one can be shy around me.

” He says proudly as he spins to show me his goofy smile. He already has his big boy teeth.

We come to a halt at the back door, where another two kids are playing.

Another boy is out there who looks just like the one clutching my hand.

The only difference is that he is clearly a few years older.

Standing beside him is a girl with crazy blonde curls.

She looks like a Disney princess with all that hair.

They’re kicking a ball back and forth between themselves.

“I’m not shy,” I whisper.

“Then what are you? Because you look really shy.” He says as he studies me.

“I’m a little bit scared,” I whisper as I study my shoes. New ones that my daddy bought me especially for today. I think it was his way of being on my good side. They’re sparkly and pink, making me feel like Barbie.

“You don’t need to be scared. You have two big brothers and a big sister to look out for you now.” He says before squeezing my hand one more time. “They’re dying to meet you.”
