Vadim

I storm down the corridor to Marek's office. Helena is on the phone. The second she sees me, she lowers the receiver and cradles it against her shoulder. "He's in a meeting."

"Don't care."

"Your funeral."

She rolls her eyes and goes back to the call.

Bursting into his office, I find my brother at his desk mid-conversation with two suits sitting across from him. His jaw pulses at my intrusion, but he maintains his poker face as he gets to his feet.

"Excuse me for a moment, gentleman."

He stalks over to me, his poker face giving way to seething irritation. "Why the hell are you barging in like this?" he hisses. "I'm in the middle of a very important meeting."

"Preston's house just went up."

"What?"

He steps in even closer to keep this conversation private.

"I was dropping him off when it happened. He's okay, and his roommate was out on a run."

"Fuck." He props his hands on his hips, his eyes darting about as he processes the news. "Farkas?"

"Unconfirmed, but I suspect so."

"Where are Preston and his roommate now?"

"They're in the sky suite."

His eyes bulge. "You brought them here?"

"I did."

"Why?"

Clapping my hand on his back, I offer him a wide smile. "Because, dear brother, this is all your fucking fault."
