Chapter 34
Chapter Thirty-Four
Solenn
The bathroom was filled with steam, the sound of water cascading against tile echoing in the enclosed space.
My skin was already warm from the shower, the heat sinking into my muscles, soothing away the lingering ache from the night before.
My body was still humming, still sensitive, still too aware of what had happened in the last few days, of the way Maverick Spencer had completely unraveled me.
I leaned my forehead against the cool tile, closing my eyes, trying to ground myself, trying to slow my thoughts, but I knew there was no escaping it. No escaping him.
Then—the sound of the glass door sliding open.
I froze, my breath catching in my throat, every nerve in my body suddenly on high alert.
The steam had thickened the air, but even without turning around, I knew.
I felt him. His presence behind me was impossible to ignore, overwhelming, all-consuming, and when I finally forced myself to look over my shoulder, my pulse stopped completely.
Maverick stood just inside the shower, his gaze locked onto mine, dark, intense, heavy with something unreadable.
Water beaded along his shoulders, his chest, sliding over defined muscles, dripping down the sharp lines of his abs.
He was bare, exposed, completely unapologetic in his confidence, in his dominance, in the way he stood there like he owned this moment, like he owned me.
Neither of us spoke.
The water continued to stream down, the space between us filled with tension so thick it was suffocating. My heart pounded against my ribs, but I didn’t move. I couldn’t.
His lips parted slightly, his eyes never leaving mine as he took one slow, measured step forward, closing the small gap between us. Then another. Then another, until the heat of his body was radiating against my back and my bare skin shivered in anticipation.
His hand moved first, slow, deliberate, fingers trailing up the length of my spine, barely touching, but it was enough to send a violent shudder through me. He leaned in, his breath warm against my ear, his voice low, commanding.
"Did you think I was done with you?"
I swallowed hard, my entire body tightening at the rough edge of his tone, at the promise in his words.
Before I could answer, before I could even think, he grabbed my waist and spun me around, pinning me back against the cool tile. My gasp barely had time to leave my lips before his mouth was on mine, hard, demanding, owning.
The kiss was nothing like before. There was no hesitation, no restraint, no softness.
This was possession, this was a claim. His hands gripped my hips, fingers digging into my skin as he pulled me closer, forcing me to feel every inch of him.
I moaned against his mouth, my fingers clawing at his shoulders, at his back, nails raking down his slick skin, and he groaned, low and rough, like he was barely holding himself together.
"You drive me insane," he muttered against my lips, biting down just enough to make me gasp. "You think you can walk around, act like you’re in control, tease me, test me?" His grip tightened, his knee nudging between my thighs, spreading me open. "That ends now."
Heat exploded in my stomach, in my chest, in every part of me. I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, couldn’t do anything but hold onto him as he pressed against me, completely overpowering, completely dominant.
"Maverick—"
"Be quiet," he ordered his voice like gravel and sin, rough and commanding.
My nails dug into his back, but he didn’t let up.
His mouth moved lower, dragging along my jaw, and my throat, his teeth scraping against my pulse, his tongue soothing the bite, his lips marking every inch of skin he could reach.
Water streamed over us, running down the curves of our bodies, making every movement slicker, smoother, and more intoxicating.
I arched against him, desperate for more, desperate for everything, but he took his time, tormenting me, teasing me, proving a point.
"You wanted to test me?" he murmured, dragging his lips over my collarbone, his hands gripping my thighs, lifting me effortlessly. "Let’s see how much you can take."
I gasped as my back hit the wall, as he pressed forward, as his body locked us together, skin to skin, heat to heat, nothing between us anymore.
And then—he pushed inside me.
A sharp cry escaped me, pleasure and pressure and something deeper than either flooding through my veins, burning through every nerve.
Maverick groaned against my throat, his fingers gripping my hips so tightly I knew I’d feel it tomorrow.
His breath was ragged, his control fraying, but still—he held back.
I moved first.
I rolled my hips, my nails dragging down his back, and that was it. His restraint snapped.
"Fuck," he growled, before slamming into me, hard and deep and perfect.
I choked on a moan, my head falling back against the tile, and he took that as permission.
His grip tightened, his pace relentless, each thrust driving me higher, pushing me further, making me forget everything but him.
The sound of the water, the steam, the soft gasps that filled the space between us—it was all too much, not enough, absolutely everything.
"Say my name," he demanded, voice rough, his lips at my ear, his teeth grazing my skin.
I whimpered, clinging to him, drowning in him, sinking into the sensation of him taking, owning, controlling.
"Maverick."
He growled in approval, dragging his lips back to mine, swallowing my moans, swallowing every part of me. His hands roamed lower, grabbing my thighs, angling me exactly how he wanted, exactly how I needed.
The pressure built fast, spiraling, consuming, stealing every breath, every thought, every part of me. My body clenched around him, my nails digging into his shoulders, and I knew—I was gone.
He must have felt it too, because his rhythm stuttered, his control slipping, his breath turning ragged against my skin. "Solenn," he groaned, his voice raw, his grip bruising, his body trembling.
I shattered around him, gasping his name, my head dropping to his shoulder, my body convulsing, tightening, falling apart.
And he followed.
His hands slammed against the tile, his body pressed fully against mine, his mouth devouring mine as he came undone, as he let go, as he gave in completely.
For a long moment, neither of us moved.
Water streamed over us, our breathing heavy, our bodies tangled, our chests rising and falling in sync. His forehead pressed against mine, his hands still gripping my hips, his heart hammering just as wildly as my own.
I should have said something.
Should have acknowledged that this wasn’t just about desire anymore.
But instead, I just held onto him.
And he—he didn’t let me go.
