Newburyport is mourning the tragic loss of high society due to an explosion in an abandoned mine. Firefighters have been on the scene all morning and have secured the area, but the loss of life is estimated to be in the dozens.
Lord Ivan Vasilyev, a local philanthropist, was hosting a gala in celebration of local infrastructure investment. He is presumed to be among the dead. Recovery activities continue, and police are asking the public to avoid the area. Detours are in place.
Among the confirmed dead are Franko Smythe, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Dr. Julie Schaefer, Head of Pediatric Psychology at Dr. LeMarchand’s Institute for Intellectual Ascension.
Timothy Winslow, the Police Commissioner, had been at the exclusive soiree but left early due to a family emergency.
“We will be doing everything we can to secure the location, and any evidence, but at this time, there is no suggestion of foul play, or that this is anything but a tragic accident,” Winslow said at press time.
This is believed to be the first mine explosion in Massachusetts history, and experts have theorized that there was a buildup of dangerous gases that became trapped beneath the manor. Any type of candle or open flame may have been enough to ignite it.
Lead poisoning is a concern in the area, and regulatory bodies have stated their intention to quarantine the vicinity for the next several years as a precautionary measure.

Eight kidnapped children have been returned to their families unharmed.
The rash of kidnappings last month made national headlines for the daring, daylight abductions that didn’t leave a trace. Often, parents were right nearby, only having looked away for a minute, and police did not have any leads.
Most of the families are asking for privacy at this time, but one anonymous family member told the Arkham Herald that their child remembered a large party and a beautiful, blonde angel who saved them.

State police and child protection services have raided a compound on Mount Aer, where approximately 150 members of a group that calls themselves the Children of Aer resided.
Officials claimed that the raid, which was triggered by information received from an anonymous source, resulted from evidence of child sexual abuse.
Arrest warrants were issued for Caleb Harris, thought to be the leader of the group, and his son Henry Harris. The charred remains of two bodies were recovered at the scene, with witnesses claiming that Caleb—who they referred to as “the father”—and his son had self immolated in protest.
The other members of the extremist religious group were detained without incident, and the children are currently under supervision while investigations are ongoing. Anyone with further information is instructed to contact the hotline number below.

The crypto markets have suffered another crippling blow today as an unidentified hacker group has intercepted a blockchain security platform, rerouting all transfers to untraceable accounts.
A message posted on the site has claimed that ‘vibe coding’—using generative AI to produce code—had left gaping holes in their security. The hackers further claimed that the money will fund social programs and child welfare across New England.
This follows a massive scandal when investors found out that the so-called secure and safer currency of CullCoin was a pyramid scheme.
The FBI is looking for leads into any who might have profited from the scheme, with suspects being linked to organized crime, including the Russian mafia, known internally as the Bratva.
There is a $100,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the ringleader, known only by the pseudonym of “Python”.
