Chapter Seven- Dior #3

I smiled at Tomasso. His recovery had me a bit worried after his stroke, but he has been improving nicely. He no longer needed assistance to walk, and his steps seemed to be getting stronger. He stood and went to his sons.

“Remember what I told you two. The black diamonds are important, but I will choose you both coming back in one piece even more than those diamonds. Do what you must to Francesco and Luca and come back home,” Tomasso said, patting both his sons on their shoulders.

Snow and Buddha nodded their heads in unison.

Victoria stood up and hugged Snow first and then Buddha. She whispered something in both their ear that nobody else heard, and then she stepped back. Buddha looked over at me as I tried to hide the worry and sadness in my eyes.

“Come here,” he summoned me with his hand. In a robotic manner, I walked over to him. He didn’t hesitate to embrace me, holding me so tight I wished the hug would never, ever end. My eyes welled up when he pulled back and kissed me briefly.

“I love you,” he said softly as he kissed the middle of my forehead.

“I love you too. I’ll be waiting for you when you get back.

” I said, managing a weak smile as I stepped away from him.

I lifted my hand at Snow as they both started walking toward the front door.

I stayed behind as Sofia walked with her brothers, the three of them talking softly until they both left out the front door.

My heart sank to my feet as I said a quick prayer in my head, asking God to watch over them so they could return to all of us safely. They both were still healing from their previous injuries, and now they’re gone again.

“He’ll be alright; just have faith,” Victoria said as she came to stand beside me.

She held my hand in a comforting manner.

I looked at her and wondered how she could be so calm that her sons were about to do something that could get them both killed.

Tomasso excused himself and headed toward the stairs.

“Would you like a cup of cappuccino?” Victoria offered. I immediately began shaking my head, making a face. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, I just haven’t drunk any kind of coffee for a couple of weeks. Umm, it’s been keeping me up, so I stopped,” I answered, looking away from her. Sofia was standing next to her mother, and they were both eyeing me with suspicion.

“Ahhh, I see,” Victoria said after a few seconds had ticked by. I looked at her, wondering why she was looking at me like that.

“Why are you eyeballing me?” I asked.

“Did you tell him? Did you tell Phillipe?”

“Wh-what? Did I tell him what?” I was stunned by her question; she couldn’t possibly know. I really wished Victoria would stop looking at me like that.

“Did you tell him that you’re pregnant?” Victoria asked, causing Sofia to gasp and cover her mouth.

Of course, Victoria would get that I was pregnant simply from me saying that I stopped drinking coffee a couple of weeks ago. I rolled my eyes, realizing that there was no use in lying now.

“No, I didn’t tell him. I wanted him to be focused, so I would let him know when he gets back.”

I didn’t suspect I was pregnant at first. The nauseous feelings that would come and go, I ignored them. A few vomiting spells here and there still didn’t give me any cause for concern.

It was a conversation I had with Mia over the phone.

She told me that her period came while she was at the gym, and some random guy had to let her know.

She was explaining how embarrassed she was because the guy was fine.

When she said that a light bulb went off in my head, I hadn’t gotten my period; it should have been due already.

With everything that had been happening, I didn’t notice that I missed it, and I certainly didn’t believe I was pregnant.

I just assumed that I was fucking stressed, and the stress caused me to skip my period.

However, my suspicions rose when I sprayed my favorite perfume on myself one morning; the fragrance made me run to the bathroom and throw up as though I had food poisoning.

I had no choice but to go out and get a pregnancy test. I stared at that white stick for nearly twenty minutes at those two pink lines.

Things between Buddha and me were strained enough as it was, so telling him I was pregnant was an absolute no. What good would come of it? We were barely speaking to each other; he was so distant that I feared this pregnancy would only drift us further away from each other.

“Congratulations, Dior. Are you happy or excited?” Sofia asked, giving me a sisterly hug.

“I don’t know what the fuck I am if I’m being honest. I don’t even know how Buddha is going to feel about becoming a father,” I shrugged, as I answered her question the best that I could.

“He’s going to be ecstatic just like we are.

Come here…congratulations,” Victoria said, pulling me in for a hug.

I returned her gesture, hugging her closely because I really did need it.

Now all that needed to happen was for Buddha to return safe and sound so I could tell him he is going to be a father.
