Chapter Ten- Dior #3
“Lewis, you must be out of your damn mind if you think for one second I am going to give you any money. Let’s not even touch on the fact that you still owe the Riccis for the money you stole; let’s forget about that.
Let’s forget that I had to get married for your thieving ways, yeah, let’s forget about that also.
I cannot stand your ass! Move the hell out of my way!
” I screamed in his face because I was losing my cool.
Sticking his index finger in my left shoulder, Lewis glared at me with dead, cold eyes. “I don’t even know why you’re complaining. You seem to be enjoying being Phillipe’s little slut.”
Without thinking twice, I lifted my hand and slapped him as hard as I could.
“Fuck you a million times for all that I was put through because of you,” I pointed in his face because this man had me fucked up.
I saw it coming but could do nothing to stop it.
Lewis lifted his hand and, with the back of it, slapped me so hard I fell to the ground.
Tears sprang to my eyes as I looked up at the man I had loved once as a father.
A man who has now turned into a total stranger.
I didn’t need to touch my mouth to know it was busted.
I felt the pain, and I also felt the blood dripping onto my chin.
“That’s what the fuck you get for putting your hands on a grown man!” Lewis shouted down at me. A shooting pain crippled me, running up my spine.
“Ow,” I whimpered, grabbing my lower back as I sobbed silently. I was scared that I had now managed to put my unborn baby’s life in danger. I struggled to get to my feet just as I heard the front door open.
“Ma’am, are you alright?” Alessandro came just in time. He gently pulled me up; concern showed in every line on his face. I grabbed my lower back as I winced in pain.
“I don’t know who the fuck you are, but you need to get out of my house,” Lewis said, charging toward Alessandro, which turned out to be a big mistake.
Grabbing his right hand and pinning it behind his back, Alessandro then proceeded to place Lewis in a chokehold until he went night-night.
Dropping Lewis onto the ground in an unconscious state, Alessandro looked at me.
“Are you ok? Are you in any pain? I should call Mr. Phillipe,” he said, reaching for his cell in his pocket. I grabbed his hand, stopping him from doing so.
“Wait, let me go get my sister. She’s upstairs, but you need to move him. I don’t want her to see her father like this; she won’t understand…please,” I pleaded with him, touching my busted lip.
With a look of worry on his face, Alessandro reluctantly complied.
Handing me a white handkerchief from his pocket, he motioned for me to clean the blood off my lips.
I took it from him and walked up the stairs as I cleaned myself off.
Shoving the cloth inside my pants pocket, I opened the door to Chanel’s room.
She looked up from her bed when she saw me and smiled. Hopping off, she ran to me and wrapped her arms so tight around my neck I could barely breathe.
“Dior, I didn’t know you were coming to visit me. Lewis told me I was moving back home with him, even though I said I was happy living with Aunt Debbie. Chanel immediately began talking my ear off.
“Well, Lewis was mistaken. I’m taking you back to Aunt Debbie’s. Come on, let’s go.” I took her hand and led her out the door. With every step I took, my back ached more and more. It felt like an elephant was standing on me.
“What happened to your mouth, Dior?” Chanel asked, pointing at my lip.
I stepped down the stairs cautiously, making sure that Alessandro had moved Lewis. I breathed a sigh of relief once I realized that Lewis was gone. “Do you know a monkey did this to my lip?”
“A monkey?” Chanel asked, laughing like crazy, as I walked us out of the house, locking the door behind me. Alessandro was already seated in his car, waiting for us.
“Girl, when we get in the car, I’ll tell you all about it,” I said, unlocking the passenger door for her to get in while I thought about a crazy monkey story that sounded believable.
I drove Chanel back to Aunt Debbie’s and lied about Lewis not giving any trouble to hand Chanel back to me. Once I hugged my sister and told her I’d be by to see her on the weekend, I hopped in my car to head home. I really needed to lie down, hoping that once I did, I would start feeling better.
I noticed that Buddha never called, so I assumed that Alessandro never called him to say what went down between Lewis and me. It was all just wishful thinking, though. By the time I was about ten minutes away from home, my phone started ringing.
“Shit,” I muttered when I saw Buddha was trying to FaceTime me.
I pulled over to the side of the road to take his call.
There was no use trying to hide my lips because they were swollen, puffy, and red with a hint of purple.
Only a miracle or a magician could hide this bruise.
Taking a deep breath, I answered my phone.
“Hey,” I said, trying not to look directly at the screen.
“Stop fucking playing with me and hold the phone properly so I can see your face, Dior,” Buddha gave out his instruction calmly.
I did as I was told and held the phone steady, looking directly at the screen.
The first thing I noticed was that he no longer had a face full of unkempt facial hair.
He looked like his old handsome self again, with a freshly maintained beard.
Rubbing his chin, Buddha focused on my lip. His expression never changed to give away what he was thinking; he just stared at my bruised mouth. We stayed on that phone for about fifteen seconds in silence before he finally spoke.
“Lewis did that?” he asked softly, pointing at the screen.
“Yes.”
“Ok, I’ll see you when I get home tomorrow.”
“Did you find Luc—” I did not even get the chance to finish my question; the call ended. I also wanted to speak to him about his little work wife, Diamond, and the fact that I was going to fire her ass.
“Shit,” I muttered, looking in the rearview mirror at Alessandro as he waited for me to pull off. As I drove away, I touched my lips nervously before sighing softly. I had no idea who was in bigger trouble, me or Lewis. I guess I will find out by tomorrow.
