Chapter 1 #2

The night ended, and everyone wished us well as we drove off in Ahk’s Corvette that had “Just Married” plastered on the bumper. For the night, Saphir went home with Priest and Britain to have a sleepover with Genesis.

From the passenger seat, I gazed at my handsome-ass husband while thanking God for dropping him in my life. “I really got you to marry my crazy ass.”

He gripped my thigh with one hand as he kept the other on the wheel while zipping through the city streets. The wind was hitting us just right, and the world felt like it was in our hands.

“Hell yeah, Lovey. Couldn’t miss out on making you Mrs. Hendrix.”

Lovey was what he called me. The sweetest shit ever.

We pulled up to the Ritz, and my man carried me out of the whip bridal style and let valet have the keys. With ease like the smooth motherfucka’ he was, he carried me up to the Presidential Suite.

When my feet graced the floor, they were surrounded in ruby red rose petals.

I gasped as my hand flew to my mouth. Ahk was a nigga of romance, and he knew how to sweep me off my feet.

The entire hotel suite was lit up with candles, and roses were everywhere.

Off to the left of the elevator doors that welcomed us into the suite was a kitchen equipped with a bar.

On the bar was an array of gift bags marked with designer brand names.

My man knew I liked nice shit, and he was never afraid of spending a check on me.

“Ahkeem!” I whipped around to face him, shock still in my eyes.

He chuckled. “What’s up, Lovey? You like it?”

“Papa, I love it! Thank you so much!” I scurried back into his arms and peppered his face with kisses before tonguing him down.

“It aint shit. About you, I’ll do whatever to keep that gorgeous-ass smile on your face.”

“My man, my man, my man, my man!” I crooned as I grinned like a little schoolgirl in his face.

His eyes were full of so much love. Sometimes, when he gazed at me, it scared me a little bit.

I never had someone love me the way Ahkeem did.

He proved time and time again that he would do anything to keep me happy, and I prayed every day that I showed him I would do the same.

I was so grateful for him, and he couldn’t have come into my life at a better time.

I was so lost, searching for something to prove, that I was ready to take on the world.

Despite all the dumbass shit I was doing, he never judged me or distanced himself from me when I was spiraling.

He stood firm in his promise to always be there for me, and for that, I owed him everything.

“That shit sound sexy as fuck.” A mannish smirk graced his handsome face as he gripped a handful of my ass. “You gone let me put a baby in you tonight?”

We laughed since he knew the answer to that question. Ahk was a traditional man, and if he had it his way, I would have been barefoot and pregnant a long-ass time ago. He wanted me put up like a little trophy, but everyone knew how much I loved to work and make money.

Club Reign had now expanded to Miami and Atlanta.

I was dominating the nightlife scene with hopes of opening another in Vegas.

On top of that, I finally buckled down and opened up that storefront boutique I always dreamed of.

Named after yours truly, Kinza was dominating the fashion scene with my custom pieces that the hottest bitches in the city were wearing.

The world was in my fucking hands right now, and having a baby would just slow me down.

I wasn’t ready, and although Ahk claimed he understood, he always threw little subliminal hints that he wanted to shoot the club up immediately.

“Not tonight, Pa, but soon.”

“We getting somewhere.” He slapped my ass. “Go check the room.”

Excitement rushed through my veins as he hinted at another surprise. I grabbed his hand, and together we went to the room. Another gasp fled from my lips at the sight of the balloons that floated around the room with pictures of us tied to them.

“Every memory of us for the past five years, Lovey,” he crooned into my ear as he wrapped his arms around me.

I held it together all day, even when he said his vows to me.

I always tried to be a tough bitch, but this man was breaking me down.

Tears glossed my eyes and then drifted down my face for the first time all night.

Seeing all the memories we lived out together made everything feel surreal.

He helped me grow into the very woman I was today, and he loved me through every stage of it.

The picture of him proposing in front of the Eiffel Tower when we went to Paris two months ago instantly triggered me to sob.

Ahk wasn’t used to me crying. He always bragged about having the hardest chick in the world on his arm.

Seeing me in full-fledged tears was a little alarming to him, especially over some pictures.

“Lovey, you alright? I ain’t fuck nothing up, did I?” I could hear in his tone that he was concerned.

Still in tears, I shook my head. “No, b-baby,” I hiccupped. “You did everything perfect… you’re perfect, and I love you.”

“I love you too, Lovey. More than I can put into words.” He wiped my tears, trying his best to preserve my makeup.

“Fuck the makeup, Ahk. You’re gonna fuck it up tonight anyways,” I sniffled.

“As long as you know.”

He led me further into the room and to the bed. There, he had a bottle of champagne on ice and two champagne flutes. Next to the ice bucket was a folder. I shifted my eyes between him and the folder, and all he did was smirk, refraining from giving me any idea what was inside.

“You gonna keep surprising me all night?” I raised my brow at him.

“This my last little surprise. After this, I’m trying to get straight to business. My wife looking too fucking good in this all white.” He bit down on his bottom lip as temptation and love flooded his brown eyes.

I giggled and did a little spin for him so he could gawk at me. As he popped the bottle of champagne, I damn near ripped the folder while trying to get into it. He laughed at my dramatics as he poured us some champagne.

“We’re going to Anguilla!” I shrieked while jumping up and down.

“Hell yeah. You ain’t think I peeped all the little TikTok videos you was sending me?”

“You never responded.”

“Just because I ain’t say shit don’t mean I wasn’t gonna make it happen for my Lovey.”

My bottom lip curled, and my eyes glossed again. Knowing I was on the verge of crying again was amusing to him. He opened his arms back up for me to fall into his chest.

“Why do you keep doing this to me? You know I don’t like crying.”

“I know I tell you this shit all the time, but I need you to understand how much I love you, Jazzy. You becoming my wife just adds another layer of responsibility on me that I’m blessed to take on.

I meant every word I said in my vows to you today.

I’m gone love you, respect you, and protect you until I have no more breath in my body.

Then in the fucking afterlife, I’m gone do the same shit until we get reincarnated into some birds or some shit. ”

I giggled because my baby loved to go on a tangent about the afterlife and reincarnation whenever I’d let him.

“I meant everything I said to you in my vows too, baby. This shit is forever.” I wrapped my arms around his neck before pressing my lips against his.

This wasn’t no newlyweds bliss. This shit was constant with Ahkeem. He made me feel like I was the only girl in the world.

“Forever, Mrs. Hendrix?”

“Forever, Mr. Hendrix.”
