Chapter 25

Willow

Brett and I both woke up at the same time this morning. While I fed Maylee, he made smoothies and protein pancakes for me and him. Today is game day so he has a routine that he follows, and I don’t want to get in the way of that. It just felt nice to be taking care of Maylee as a team. I don’t feel the loneliness I felt back home.

After breakfast Brett went for a run and since I had the day off, I did some mom and baby yoga on the floor in the family room with Maylee.

By lunchtime Ms. Noble and Henry came by to meet our little girl, and now here we are with Ms. Noble kissing Maylee’s cheeks.

“She is so delicious, Willow,” she says, smothering Maylee in love. It makes my heart feel so full to watch the affection my daughter is receiving. It also reminds me of my relationship with Grams.

“I feel the same way,” I say.

“Pass her over to me,” Henry urges. Ms. Noble passes her over and he is so good with her too.

There’s a knock on the door. “I wonder who that could be?”

I head over to the door and open it, there Maddie stands with Asher and Kaleb.

“Hi there,” she greets and she hugs me too. This family really likes to hug. Asher hugs me next.

“Kaleb, I know we kind of met before, but this is more official,” he says, and he extends his hand to me.

I shake his hand. “Willow.”

They all walk over to Maylee, attracted to her like she is the ray of sunshine she truly is. My baby gets bathed in love and attention and I am eating up every moment.

“She is so adorable,” Maddie says. “Pass her over,” she complains to Henry.

“Wait your turn,” he replies with Maylee bouncing on his knee, laughing.

“I want to hold her,” Asher says. “I’ll sit on the couch.” Asher climbs on the couch next to Henry and Henry reluctantly places her into Asher’s arms.

“Isn’t she adorable, Daddy?” he asks Kaleb.

“She really is,” Kaleb agrees as Brett returns from his run.

My man looks sweaty and too sexy for his own good.

“Who does she look like?” Kaleb looks between Brett and me.

“She has the best of both of us,” I reply.

“No, I don’t think she looks like a big ogre,” Kaleb jokes, and Brett punches him playfully in the shoulder.

“I’ll give you an ogre, you little pussy,” Brett replies.

“Language,” Maddie shrieks and Brett winces.

“Don’t worry, I’m used to his potty mouth,” Asher says.

I am holding my stomach, laughing so hard from all their interactions.

“Daddy, I want a little brother,” Asher says to Kaleb.

“Speaking of which. . .” Maddie says.

All eyes turn on her with expectant excitement.

“We set a date for the wedding,” she announces.

All the Nobles break out in cheer. “We’re planning for a late June wedding. It makes sense because I’ll be finished with school and the season will be over for Kaleb. We’re hoping to get married outside the city.”

“Oh, darling. I’m so excited for you guys,” Ms. Noble says and she hugs Kaleb and Maddie.

“Does that mean I’ll be getting a baby brother in June?” Asher asks.

Everyone laughs at his cuteness.

“You need to be patient, kiddo,” Ms. Noble says, ruffling his hair.

“Did you hear?” Brett says, looking at Maddie. “Mom and Will are moving to New York.”

“Cool, when?” Maddie asks.

“As soon as possible. There’s no reason to stay in Michigan anymore with our family expanding. I missed enough of Asher’s life with you living in Jersey.”

“Yay, Grandma is moving. Does that mean you can make me chocolate cupcakes whenever I want?” Asher asks.

“Definitely.” She ruffles his hair.

Maylee grows a little restless in his arms.

“I got you, baby girl,” I say.

“I’ll take her to the bedroom to feed her,” I tell them all. Watching them interact has been a real treat. Brett had told me about his difficult childhood and his mom having to work all the time to support her kids since his father was an addict, but he neglected to mention all the love they have for each other. It’s really very beautiful.

“I’m behind you, beautiful. I need a quick shower,” Brett says.

“Sure, you do,” Henry calls out.

“It’s nice, he can’t seem to keep his hands to himself,” I hear Ms. Noble say.

We get to Brett’s room and I climb on the bed and lift my shirt. I already unclasped my nursing bra.

“You do realize your family thinks we are fucking all the time,” I point out to him.

“Don’t say that word in front of Maylee,” he chides.

I laugh. “She doesn’t understand.”

“I don’t want her hearing that language. And my family isn’t wrong. I’m picturing taking you from behind on the bed right now.”

“Those words are okay to say in front of our daughter?” I laugh.

“Maybe not. We might need a secret language to express our urges to jump each other’s bones,” he suggests.

“Go take your shower.” I wave him off.

“Fine, but wait for me to get out. I can get you off real quick.” He winks.

“You’re incorrigible. How did I not see this coming?” I say.

“Because I’m the biggest surprise of your life,” he says, stripping in front of me.

His cock is hard as a rock.

I lick my lips and shift a little.

“You want me too, sweetheart. I see it.” He grins like a Cheshire cat.

“Go take your shower. We’re not doing it with your entire family in the other room.” I giggle.

“Doing it, I like that description, it sounds so adolescent,” he jokes.

“Get out of here,” I say to him, laughing so hard Maylee is bouncing on my boob, not that she seems to mind.

“Sure. Sure.” He struts off and gives his butt a little wiggle before walking into the bathroom. “Your loss,” I hear him say before he closes the door.

I look down at my daughter, not ever remembering smiling this wide in my life.
