8. Chapter 8
I wake the next morning to a hot, wet tongue between my legs.
Moaning, I blink my eyes open and look down.
Seb is under the bedding, so I can’t see anything.
Flipping the covers down, Seb stops and smiles up at me.
“Morning, Sunshine.” He looks beautiful with his droopy eyes baked with heat, stubble flushed cheeks, and mussed hair.
“Definitely a good morning,” I smile back.
Seb goes back to his ministrations, flicking his tongue over my little bud then inserting a finger inside, curving upward. I quickly get restless and start moving my hips with him. With a few taps on my g-spot, I fall over the edge. It’s a quiet and soft orgasm, my mind still waking up from sleep.
Reaching into the nightstand, I grab a condom and hand it to Seb.
He smiles, quickly shucking his clothes.
We haven’t had a lot of alone time to be intimate, but Seb enjoys trying a new position each time.
He has me lie on my side away from him today.
Lifting my leg, he slowly enters me from behind.
One arm wraps under my head and around to my opposite shoulder while the other crosses my chest to massage a boob.
It’s an intimate position despite our facing away from each other.
Seb is slow, deep, and methodical this morning, quietly whispering decadent words of love.
My second orgasm is smooth, like a rolling wave, long and endless. Seb eventually joins, moaning quietly in my ear. We both fall back asleep afterwards, him still inside me, wrapped in each other.
A phone ringing wakes me later in the morning. Fumbling around, I grab it from the nightstand and answer without looking at the screen. “Hello.”
“Flying makes me a better care provider,” Jake replies. “I need you.”
Sitting up quickly, I run a hand over my face, my heart pounding in my chest, now fully alert. “I cannot deactivate until you are satisfied with your care. On my way, handsome,” I return before hanging up.
“Sunshine, is Jake okay?” Seb asks, leaning up on his elbow, hair sticking up everywhere, yawning. “Why are you quoting Big Hero 6?”
“Long story. It’s a code phrase, and I need to go see him.”
“Do you want me to come, or is this a private thing?” He asks, getting out of bed naked.
I get distracted for a minute, seeing his beautiful body on display in all its glory. Smooth, light brown skin covering lean, sculpted muscles. Seb smirks as I shake my head. “It’s their family business, so I think I need to go alone.”
“Okay. I’ll grab breakfast. Let me know if you can still do the arcade and movie later.” Seb grabs his pants from the floor and shucks them on, quietly leaving the room.
I quickly text Dad to let him know where I’ll be, then grab some clothes and go into the bathroom. After a quick shower, I throw my hair into a messy bun and meet Seb in the kitchen.
“Breakfast of champions,” he says, throwing me a granola bar. He’s eating a bowl of cereal with a thermos of tea beside him.
“You shouldn’t have gone through all this trouble,” I wink at him. Grabbing the thermos, I kiss Seb on the cheek and head out. He’s going to shower and lock up for me.
Letting myself into the condo, Ray is in the kitchen sipping coffee. “Morning, Ray.”
“Good morning, Summer. He’s in his room. Want some tea?”
I hold up my thermos as I walk by, with Ray following behind me. Jake looks heartbroken, so I climb into bed beside him. “What happened?”
“Erin has been calling and texting incessantly because she wants to see Jake. I ignored her at first, but it became so frequent that it was disruptive. When I answered last night, I told her I would ask Jake, and it was his decision. Jake agreed to a video call on his tv, which happened this morning. It was extremely unpleasant, with more yelling and demanding. Jake hung up on her,” Ray informs me.
“Well, that’s not helpful. Do you think she’s done now?” I ask, taking a sip of my tea.
“No,” he replies, leaning against the wall opposite me. “She's demanding that he move to New York and live with her once he’s mobile. To her, it was a reasonable expectation.”
“Wow, okay.” Yes, let’s hand over your son, who’s 18, to you after you left him and never visited.
“I texted Zander this morning asking for suggestions for a local family attorney. When he returns my text, I’ll make a call on Monday morning. I believe we will need one to get her to stop.”
“I can help with that. Mr. MacLeod is ours. He was my attorney at the trials and can recommend someone from his firm if he’s busy.”
“I remember him, but only spoke to his assistant. Do you have his number?”
“Sure do. Let me call him now. He’s used to us calling at odd times.” Pulling my phone out, I call his cell.
Mr. Macleod answers after a few rings. “Good morning, Summer. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Hi Mr. Macleod. I have a family friend in need of an attorney. Long story short, my best friend Jake, who was in a coma, is now awake, and he and his dad moved to Mt. Pleasant for his recovery. His dad has unofficial custody, but his mom is causing problems for them and shows no sign of stopping.”
“I remember Jake’s story from your trial, and I’m thrilled to hear he is awake and recovering. Congratulations. May I speak with Ray? I, or another member of my firm, can help.”
“Thank you. I’ll hand him my phone.” Reaching over, I hand the cell phone to Ray. As they talk, Will suggests getting Jake into his lift chair.
Once Jake settles in the living room, I take a seat beside him on the armrest, hanging off the edge. “Did you call Cameron yet?”
“No, I called you first. She’s not in her right mind, Sum. Her reality is not ours, and it was scary. She just yelled and demanded. By the end, she was so upset that she told me to choose between you and her. I chose you, obviously, and hung up.”
“Ray and the lawyer will figure out the best course of action. You don’t have to deal with her anymore if you don’t want.”
“Oh, I made that clear to her. I want nothing to do with her after that call. How did they both get so broken?” He asks, meeting my eyes with his glassy ones.
He looks so young suddenly. A boy whose life has exploded, trying to understand how he got here.
I know the feeling all too well. He’s lost his mom, even though she is alive.
That’s such a tremendous burden to bear.
Lifting his arm, I snuggle closer, hugging him. “All of us broke after the accident. When people don’t deal with their emotions, it can fundamentally change them. I think that’s what happened to your mom.”
We sit silently as he tries to work through his feelings.
Jake wipes his eyes when Ray joins us. “Thanks, Summer,” he smiles, handing me my phone back.
“He’s contacting an associate of his, and she'll write a cease and desist letter to be delivered Monday to Erin, notifying her that we will get a restraining order if she doesn’t stop.
Is that okay with you, Jake? She legally won’t be able to contact you. ”
“Fine with me, Dad. I don’t want to have contact anymore.”
Nodding, he asks what we would like for lunch and steps away to the kitchen while I ask for a physiotherapy update.
Will and Jake fill me in on his progress and plans for the next steps.
He’s getting close to being able to get up and around himself, so Ray ordered a walker for him in anticipation.
Jake is really excited about showering alone soon.
He seems to perk up each time he gains a little more independence.
Once he’s able to push his wheelchair, Will says he can get out and around town.
We enjoy a lunch of chicken and vegetables together, while Will and Jake talk about the NHL game last night. Once Jake seems settled, I excuse myself to head to the arcade to meet up with everyone.
I text the guys I’m on my way when I get in my Jeep, before texting Dad an update. Seb meets me at the arcade door with a hug and kiss, grabbing my hand and leading me inside.
We find Gabby first, with her boyfriend. I can hear Seb grumbling beside me, which makes me smile. I've seen him at school, but we haven’t been introduced yet. “Summer, this is Adam,” Gabby tells me.
“Nice to meet you,” I smile at him.
“You too,” he replies with a shy smile, his eyes darting down after brief contact with mine.
The arcade seems to have a little of everything.
Old school games and newer ones. It has a bracelet system, and you’re awarded tickets when you win, to turn in for prizes.
There’s also a snack bar along the right side with old school chrome and red topped stools along with an aqua colored laminate counter with chrome edging.
Seb and Gabby are both really excited, dragging us along with them.
I greet Bay, E, and get a hug from Alex, then we begin.
We spend several hours working our way through many of the games. Seb is, unfortunately, not much better at these games than the others we’ve tried, but it doesn’t faze him at all. Adam seems sweet, if a little quiet, but he looks at Gabby like she’s the most beautiful girl in the universe.
It gets more crowded the longer we play, but the guys keep close. We take a break for lunch and grab a table near the snack bar. E, Alex, and Adam offer to get food for us, while Bay and Seb run to the washroom.
As soon as the guys leave, and despite my being able to see the snack counter, three guys I’ve never seen before take seats surrounding Gabby and me.
“Hello ladies. We’ve been watching you two. You’re the hottest girls at the arcade today. I’m Brett, and this is Jeff and Ralph,” he says, pointing to the guy sitting beside me first, then the guy on the opposite side of Gabby.
“Hi to you too, but we’re both taken. Sorry and please leave,” I reply as nicely as I can.
“Now no need to rush us. We haven’t even gotten your names yet. We’re all young here, looking for a good time. What’s your name?” Brett asks me.
