Chapter 10

CHAPTER TEN

Gavin

I’d holed myself up in my room away from everyone, but I couldn’t do this anymore.

The urge to visit the casino again was getting harder to resist. I was sick of my own company, I was tired of fighting; once the house was quiet, I dressed in a shirt and dark jeans and splashed some aftershave on my face.

I was grown ass man for fuck’s sake, and right now I felt like I’d been grounded for bunking off school. Fuck this.

Tying my Timberlands, I stood back up and made my way down the stairs. As I reached the bottom, I pocketed my keys.

Nikki stepped out from the darkness.

“Where are you off, or do I need to have three guesses?”

“Out.” I left it at that, because I didn’t want to get into an argument, not tonight, and definitely not right now. “Don’t start Nik, because you have no fucking idea.” I turned to face her as she leant against the wall, “You can stand there and judge me all you want. I don’t give a shit.”

“You’ve done so well though.”

“Have I?” I’m sure she doesn’t miss the sceptical look on my face. She knows fuck all. “Come with me.”

“Don’t be daft.”

“What’s daft about it? You think I need looking after, then come with me.”

“I don’t think so.”

“Why?” I asked innocently, “Scared to be alone with me, Nik?”

“No. But look at me,” my eyes travelled up and down her petite form, slowing my gaze at the parts that matter. “Stop looking at me like that.” Her eye’s hardened, “No sex, Gav.”

I stepped forward and my head dipped to hers, “You need to tell that to the hungry pussy in your jeans. You know how she gets.” My lips angled into a crooked smirk, “she always wanted more of me.” My voice lowered to a whisper.

She shoved me away from her. “Fine. Let me get changed and slap a bit of makeup on and I’ll be back.” She moved away and turned to go up the stairs but paused with her hand on the banister, she looked at me over her shoulder, “I mean it, Gav. No sex.”

“Whatever you say.”

I waited patiently for Nikki to come down.

I say patiently, I was expecting ten minutes, not fucking half an hour.

It was almost eleven. It didn't matter about the time, the casino was open until at least six, that’s if it wasn’t a twenty-four hour one, some of them were.

I got up from the stairs and started to pace the floor.

Fuck me, how long does it take? My patience was wearing thin.

As I turned back at the other end of the hallway, I made my way back to the bottom and happened to look up.

She looked sexy as fuck in a black mini leather skirt, a tight top that showcased her glorious tits, and her straight red hair down her back.

Her red lips popped against her fair skin.

Fuck me… I’m sure she does this to wind me up. Down boy. Best behaviour.

“About time.” My brows lifted as she made her way down, and I moved to open the door. As I held it open, Rhys’s voice filtered through the hallway.

“Where are you two going?” Fuck me.

I sighed while Nikki stood at my side, not sure what to say, “Casino. Fancy it?” I’m sure Nikki would be happy with Rhys with us, she’d be safe. “But do not say you have to get changed, because I’m not waiting any longer.”

“One minute.” He ran up the stairs, my shoulders slumped while I prepared to wait even longer. I needed a fucking drink. But, five minutes later he was back down in a black shirt and his dark jeans that he was already wearing anyway, he spun his keys around his finger. “Come on then. I’ll drive.”

“Let’s go.” I yanked the door open and we all jumped into the Range Rover.

We made the twenty minutes trip to the nearest casino, Nikki sat in the back while I sat up front with Rhys. “Just so you know, I’m doing this for Roman.”

“I know.” I felt fucking scolded. One day I hoped there’d be a time where I didn’t need to ask where I could and couldn’t go. And that day would be soon. I hated being watched, and it was time things changed.

Rhys pulled onto the front, and nodded at the guy at the gate. We passed him and found a parking space.

The doors opened for us, I stood at the threshold and breathed in; and there it was, familiarity, like coming home again.

I led the way to the bar and grabbed three drinks.

A soft drink for Rhys, and Jack and Coke for me and Nik.

I passed them over as I nodded back at the barman.

He recognised me from last week. The night I stood here like a pussy not knowing what to do.

This time though, I manned up and went through to the other room.

The Craps tables, the Blackjack tables; they called in unison.

It was like a swansong. I took a seat at the nearest Craps table and grinned as I looked back at Nikki and Rhys.

They exchanged a look but came over to join me anyway.

They stood behind me as I nodded at the shooter.

He pushed chips towards me and passed me the dice.

As I played, everything else around me melted away. Nikki and Rhys stayed close, apart from a toilet break, and we had drinks brought over to us, but I didn’t care what they were doing for the most part.

My blood boiled with excitement.

I ached for it.

Yearned for that rush again.

So much so that I was sweating. Every now and then I had to wipe away the sweat that had leaked from my forehead.

I was winning.

I should stop.

“We should go, Gav.” Rhys said from the side of me. “Come on, dude.” He tapped my shoulder then clutched it tightly between his fingers. I looked between him and the table. I thought about Roman, and how I promised I’d be good. It’s always when I was on a winning streak that things got out of hand.

“Gav,” Nikki almost pleaded with me to leave. I had to leave. I needed them to see that I could walk away. I nodded at them and made a slicing action under my chin to the shooter. He paid me my winnings. I was almost a grand up. That’d do me.

“I better go pay the tab at the bar.” I said hoping to sneak another JD shot in at least.

“I’ve paid it.” Rhys confirmed. So, like the good little boy I could be, I walked out of the casino a winner. First time for everything I suppose.

As we returned home, I headed straight for the games room.

There was a fully functioning bar in there, and I needed another drink.

I was too wired to sleep yet. Nikki and Rhys went their own way while I analysed the shit out of tonight.

I was on a high after winning. I could do that more. Was I cured?

My elbows dug into my knees as I sat on the edge of the leather couch, my fingers gripped the tumbler as I sat forward and let it hang between my knees. I sloshed it around with the slightest movement of my hand before I knocked it back in one gulp.

I wasn’t sure how much time had passed when the door to the lounge was nudged open, and Nikki walked in. “Here you are.” She crossed the room to the bar and grabbed herself a Scotch. She looked back, “Want another?”

“Trying to get me drunk, Ms Wilson?”

“Like I could. We’ve played that game remember.” her lips twitched with a small smile. “So, I’ve been lying upstairs thinking.”

“That’s dangerous.” Her eyes bored into mine. “What’s wrong?”

Her glass settled against her lips as she sipped on her scotch. My gaze moved to her throat as she swallowed. She rolled her tongue between her lips and sighed, “I think we need to stop this.”

She passed me the refilled glass, “What, drinking Scotch. Yeah, I think you’re right,” I smirked. I knew exactly what she meant.

“Gav,” She cut me off, I sighed and tried to numb my brain with more Scotch. “I… I don’t know how to stop this thing between us.”

“Then don’t.” It was as simple as that, wasn’t it? Wasn’t everything that simple?

“Why are you so cut off? I know you have problems, Gav, but a little emotion wouldn’t go a miss.”

“Why? Why suddenly do I need to have emotions, Nik.” I pushed my body out of the chair. The glass clinked loudly as it hit the marble surface of the bar. I leaned forward and tightly gripped the edge with my fingers. Emotions were shit.

Her hand on my back had me tensing. I turned around and moved her backwards, the chair behind her stopped her steps, and she dropped into it. My hands rested on the arms as I bent over her. “Why don’t you let me fuck you senseless instead.” My nose brushed her cheek and then rubbed against hers.

“Why does it always have to be about sex with you? Why can’t we be more?”

“Is that what this is about?” She stared into my eyes but there was no answer, “it’s because I’m not capable of more.” I lifted my head slightly, “This is all I can manage.”

“I think you’re scared?” she said, a grin urged me on.

We’re not good together, Nik, unless we’re fucking like rampant rabbits.”

“How do you know?” She questioned. Her eyes narrowed to slits.

My hand slid around the back of her neck and yanked her head forward.

“Gav.” I stopped and stared at her. I didn’t give her chance to say anything else; my mouth was on hers, and she was soon kissing me like her life depended on it.

I dragged my lips away. “Let’s think on it, yeah.

” She palmed my face and kissed me again, gasping, biting, nibbling at my lips and sucking my tongue into her mouth.

“Pull your skirt up.” As she dragged it up, it bunched around her slim hips, and I pulled down my zip to pull out my rock-solid dick.

She stood and jumped into my arms, and as I repositioned myself, I nudged her entrance and slid inside her, I took her to the nearest wall and fucked her hard.

My hip jerked forward with every thrust, her legs tightened around me as she held me closer, and her fingernails bit into the back of my neck.

Her low cries and groans made me surge deeper; I couldn’t get any further inside of her. “Fuck, Nik.”

“Yes, Gav,” she whispered and bit my ear lobe.

“Harder. I’m gonna come.” I powered into her, her back hitting the wall as I squeezed her arse cheeks in my fingers.

She pushed her face into my neck as she exploded.

My balls were so tight, one more hard thrust and I was there, spilling inside of her like I hadn’t had sex in weeks.

“Jesus-fucking-Christ.” I panted.

The come down was quick as she fidgeted in my arms. I pulled out of her to let her feet drop to the floor, as she inched her skirt down at the same time.

I tucked myself into my jeans and left the room, taking the stairs two at a time until I reached my bedroom and closed the door.

I stripped out of my clothes and jumped in the shower.

I washed away her scent from my skin, and I tried to come to some conclusion as to why she wanted more with me. She could do so much better than me.

But she was right, it had to end. And it had to end now.
