Chapter 30
CHAPTER THIRTY
Karen
The delicious and mouth-watering smell of pizza wafted into the bedroom and woke me up. I had to investigate. The smell of cheese, tomato and spicy goodness mingled together made my tummy rumble.
My eyes felt like slits, but as I came round fully, they widened as I pulled myself to sit up.
I shuffled to the edge of the bed and dropped my feet to the floor.
With an exhale, I stood up and padded out into the hallway, stretching my body as I went.
I could hear Gav as he moved around the house, he wasn’t the quietest, I thought with a smile.
The cool marble floor was nice under my feet and helped to wake me up further.
By the time I made it down the hallway and through to the living room, I was so ready for food.
I hadn’t eaten a lot of my breakfast because of the sick feeling, but it had gone for the time being, thank goodness.
I must’ve slept it off. Maybe it was something I’d eaten and not agreed with me, but at least now I wasn’t spending my last day here poorly.
That would be a total waste of a beautiful setting and fantastic company.
My gaze found the two large pizzas on the small coffee table. The small gasp fell from my lips when I saw a candle sat in the middle of the plates. Just as I admired the scene in front of me, Gav came in holding a bottle of Budweiser in each hand. “Ah, you’re up.” He observed as he strode in.
“Afternoon.” I answered shyly.
“It’s more like early evening but who’s taking notes.” He smirked and placed the bottles down.
“What’s all this for?”
“For you.”
My head cocked, and I wondered why.
“Me? But why?”
He came up to me and held me by the shoulders, “It’s your birthday, is it not?”
“Well, yeah but you didn’t have to do this.
” I tipped my chin back slightly, my eyes wide as they gazed back at him.
This man that had never even so much as professed any feelings for anyone, was doing this for me.
He was making it harder and harder to not tell him how I really felt about him.
I knew in my heart that I loved him, but I wasn’t sure if I could tell him that without scaring him away.
My heart sighed as he smiled at me, and the same smile came so easily to my lips in return.
“Come and sit down.” He led me over to the table with my hand firmly encased in his, then sat down on the cushion he’d placed on the floor for me.
I got myself comfy while he sat down next to me, his legs pushed out flat in front of him and crossed at his ankles.
He seemed a little nervous as he looked between the food and his lap.
“Are you alright?” It was my turn to ask him this time.
“I told Roman earlier that you were here with me.”
“You did?” My voice rose a pitch, I didn’t mean to sound so surprised but I couldn’t help it. His lips tipped up to the one side into a smirk.
“You sound surprised,” his smirk grew wider.
“I guess I am,” he took my hands again.
“He wanted to know where you were so I thought I should tell him, then he wanted to know more. Roman just loves a bit of gossip, especially when it concerns me being normal.”
“Gav, you are normal.”
“Hm, debatable.” I wondered what was going through his mind as he chewed on his lip, when every so often he glanced at me and swallowed, I knew his mind was working overtime.
“Gav? There’s something wrong. If we’re going to do this, you need to talk to me.”
A long exhale left his lips as he agreed with a swift nod.
“I got you a little something, it’s not much though.
..” he got up and left the room. I was still focused on the fact that he’d bought me something, I didn’t care what it was.
Not that I expected anything anyway, but this was out of the blue.
I couldn’t keep the smile off my face as he re-entered the room with his hands behind his back.
As he came closer, I moved to my knees and sat on my feet.
He pulled a bunch of flowers from behind him.
My hand shot out and covered yet another gasp of surprise while tears pricked at my eyes.
I’d never been bought flowers before. His gaze searched mine, “Please don’t tell me you’re allergic to flowers or pollen or something? ”
My head shook, “Not at all.” My voice was small.
“Then why do you look like you’re going to cry.
” I shrugged. I didn’t want to tell him.
I didn’t want him to think I was that sad that I hadn’t been with anyone long enough to be bought presents.
Or even something as small as flowers. You know something that costs around five bucks. I needed to get a life.
The colours were amazing and brightened the room up instantly. “I love them, thank you.” My voice broke from the emotion I was feeling.
“That’s not all. Again, it’s just something small, but I wanted you to have something from me for your birthday.
” He slipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out a small square box.
“Happy birthday, K.” my cheeks ached with the smile that stretched across my face.
I took it from him and carefully opened the box.
Inside, a delicate silver bracelet with a dainty heart sat on a red velvet insert.
“I had no idea what you liked and didn’t like.
I didn’t know whether this was too soppy, but I couldn’t see anything else.
” It was quite amusing to hear him ramble with nerves.
Gav was never nervous; he was always so sure of himself, so to see this was different.
I felt like I needed to capture this moment on camera, but I knew he wouldn’t want that, instead I’d capture it in my mind. In my own memory box.
“I love it.” I glanced back down and took it from the box. “I love it so much.” Those tears that had pricked my eyes at the sight of flowers now trickled down my cheeks.
“Hey, why are you crying?” he softly wiped them away as he caressed my face.
“I’ve never been gifted anything from anyone. So, thank you.”
He took a breath in, looked into my eyes and let it out gently, “You deserve to be showered with gifts. I forgot the last person I bought anything for. Probably back in high school, or college.” A crooked smile twisted his lips, “I think I was trying to get laid at the time, though.”
I chuckled lightly, “Why do I believe that?”
“Well, sounds good to me.” I wiped my eyes again and his lips met mine and his hands cradled my face as he showered me with soft kisses.
I loved how he could be rough and passionate one time and so totally soft the next.
He was a complete contradiction. But he was the contradiction that I wanted to be with, the one I wanted to share everything with.
But I wanted him to feel the same about me.
Without even realising, he was loving, he was gentle and at times, like now, he was really sweet. I just had to make him see that.
“Let me put it on.” I took my eyes from the sparkly heart that hung from the silver chain. I held out my arm for him to fasten it, once it was on, I dropped my arm back down, it rested delicately just under my wrist, and onto my hand.
“It’s beautiful.” I lifted my flowers back to my nose and inhaled the different scents.
His smile was wide, “Now, shall we eat?” He took my flowers away from my face and placed them down at the side of him on the floor. Just on cue my tummy growled again and he chuckled. “I take it you’re feeling better?”
“Much. Thank you.” I brought our lips together. I wanted to thank him for my presents, and I was sure that the pizza could wait. “So, just how hungry are you?” I mumbled my question against his lips.
He pulled away slightly and looked into my eyes.
He smiled knowingly. He knew how to read me already; I wished I had that luxury.
I captured my lip with my teeth and nibbled while I waited for him to answer.
With no smile, no signature smirk, just passion and unbridled desire filled his gaze, and as he touched me, heat emanated from his fingers and set me on fire.
The pace of my breathing matched his as he pressed his lips back to mine.
Though, this time, there was nothing soft about him, this was going to be rough, and I was so ready for it.
“Only hungry for you.” His gruff voice was the evidence of his need.
His legs uncrossed and he spread them apart, he tugged me between them then moved to press his back against the couch.
He trailed his lips down my neck, goosebumps prickled my skin as a shiver ran the length of my spine, traced the softness of my breasts with the tip of his tongue, and tugged my tank up over my head as he kissed me.
“Oh damn, Gav.” His head lifted, a light breeze came from the pool through the open patio windows and skittered over my skin.
My head fell back onto my shoulders as I enjoyed the feel of his lips on my skin.
“Take the rest of your clothes off.” I kneeled and did exactly what he wanted, slid my shorts down my thighs and took my bikini bottoms with them, shuffling them over my knees until they were at my ankles, and awkwardly, I pushed them from my feet.
I got back on my knees and pulled off his tee, while my fingers trailed his chest and flat stomach.
My fingers tugged at the button of his shorts, and I dragged down the zip to reach inside.
Wrapping my fingers around his hardness, I stroked him softly.
A loud growl left his lips but his eyes didn’t move from mine once.
As my hand moved up and down his shaft, he took hold of my face and kissed my lips.
With my own realisation that I loved him, something changed in me.
I felt closer to him. Everything was so much more intense.
His hand brushed roughly down my side and slipped between the apex of my thighs.
My abdomen clenched as the urge for him to touch me grew.
My knees parted slightly and like he could read me, his two fingers moved between my folds and worked firmly inside of me.
It wouldn’t take long before I was ready to give him my all.
My walls clenched around his fingers as they thrust in and out.
“Harder, Gav.” He drove them right up to the knuckle, hard thrusts as I throbbed around him, and in no time whatsoever, I was ready to let go.
My forehead fell to his chest as I climaxed, crying out his name through my pleasure, purely for him.
As I pressed a kiss to his chest, I made a split-second decision and trailed them downwards.
I shuffled backwards as I pumped him harder with my fist. When my mouth was in line with the head of his erection, I glanced up at him and smirked, wrapping my lips around him.
They slid up and down as I sucked and licked, gripping his hip tightly with my fingers as Gav tangled his fingers into my hair.
“Fucking hell, K.” We didn’t do much foreplay, I guess it was his way of keeping it light between us, but I wanted this, and he hadn’t stopped me, that action told me so much more than he realised.
I kept up my pace as his hands tightened in my hair and controlled my movements.
I let him have this, I knew he needed it.
“K, I’m gonna come, baby.” He gasped. I paused momentarily as his hand tightened in my hair.
He’s never called me that. And then that was all I could hear him saying.
I shook it off. I had to tell myself it didn’t mean anything other than being in the heat of the moment.
But I kept working my lips and tongue until he was letting go and growled loudly through his release.
“FUCK! God, that mouth is amazing.” I lapped up his release, his compliments and I enjoyed the feel of his fingers as they massaged my scalp for a moment or two.
As I lifted my head again, he was gazing at me.
It bore into me; I couldn’t tell what he was thinking though.
“Gav…” I wanted to tell him but right in that instant, the way his eyes twitched at me, I lost my nerve and stopped myself.
I couldn’t tell him I loved him for the first time, during sex.
I wouldn’t do that. Then as if he could tell I was trying to read his thoughts, he captured me and tugged me over his lap.
“Everything good?” he asked breathlessly, his brows slightly pinching.
I smiled as I hovered over him and nodded. “Perfect.”
With a sexy smile, he tugged me down onto his waiting erection.
I swiped the back of my hand over my mouth, then moved my hands to his shoulders.
I gripped him tightly as I slid up and down, working us both toward another release.
While his gaze held mine, he consumed my every thought.
He pulled my lips to his and devoured me, I couldn’t get enough.
And when we climaxed, we found it together.
If there was one thing about this birthday, I wouldn’t ever forget it. No matter what happened between us from here on out, this one would stay with me forever.
