Chapter 20

Dante and I found the door to the Demi-dorms open, so we let ourselves in. It wasn’t unusual, given the incredible heights of arrogance the demigods had about themselves. They liked to show off, especially lately, after learning how to access their powers without Orion’s orgy parties.

I figured it out before Dante did. The Demis were getting their power from Cole’s rage fog. They worked off of emotions and passion and there was a fine line between love-sex and hate-sex. There was plenty of the latter going on around campus.

A heavy slam against the wall got my attention and I looked up past the golden staircase. “What was that?” I whispered.

The Hunter took charge and moved up the steps as he unsheathed his dagger, careful not to disturb the Angelstone tucked into the scabbard. “Sounds like it came from Trevor’s room.”

“Which room is Trevor’s?” I asked.

He pointed to the closed door decorated with seashells.

Oh, right.

Another slam made the walls shake, and the sound of water splashing made me wonder if we were about to see what a flash flood looked like inside a demigod’s dorm.

“Come on,” he said as he climbed the steps.

“I don’t know if we should bother him,” I protested. “Maybe he’s just practicing his uh… swimming.”

A female’s cry from the other room banished any suggestion that whatever was going on was innocent training.

My eyes went wide when I noticed Cole’s fog had infiltrated the upper layer of the Demi-dorms, meaning Trevor was probably pissed off and if he was taking it out on a student, we had to intervene.

The black mist curled over the velvet carpet and disappeared under one of the doors, fighting against splashes of crystal water that forced itself through the crease.

“He’s got someone in there,” Dante said. He pushed against the door, but it didn’t budge. “I don’t think it’s locked. It’s just the water pressure.”

“No shit.” I wasn’t going to let Cole push this campus to the edge, especially when it came to supernaturals capable of releasing floods onto the streets and destruction of world-ending proportions.

Trevor had been more or less harmless before I’d bonded with Orion, but now the Demis were closing in on their full strength with the amount of rage infiltrating the Academy that they could feed off of.

Another scream sounded, solidifying my decision. I wasn’t going to let everything go to shit.

I transformed my hands into my trusty claws and slashed at the doorknob, chopping it clean off. I sliced again, working my way through the thick wood until I got to the latch that buckled against the pressure of the water against the door.

The latch broke free as the door flung open, shoving me down as a wave crested over me, drenching me in seconds.

I sputtered and got to my feet as I flung off the remaining splinters of the door and fought my way through the water that poured over me.

When the worst of it passed, I spotted Trevor in full demigod-transformation.

He had a poor girl pinned to the wall as sharp fins flecked across his naked spine and water worked itself like a sparkling crown around his head.

Scales glittered across his skin and would have been beautiful, had I not heard another cry come from his victim as he pushed his leg against her, no doubt kneeing her in the stomach.

“Get off her!” I roared as I rushed in and grabbed him by the shoulder, but he was too slick and my claws slid right off his glimmering scales. I fell to the floor in an undignified lump as water splashed over my already soaked uniform.

“Uh, Lily?” Dante asked, his tone oddly cautious.

“What?” I snapped, flinging off seaweed that had gotten tangled around my fingers. “Ugh. Seriously. This is disgusting.”

“Tell me about it,” Dante agreed, but when I glanced up at him he was staring at the demigod. He put away his dagger. “I so did not need to see that.”

“See what?” I asked, my gaze drifting back to Trevor only to finally realize what I was looking at.

His body had moved enough for me to see that he was completely naked… and fully erect.

His… member, which glimmered with tiny ribbed scales of its own and it was… pulsating… twitched against the stomach of another very naked female—one with golden eyes as wide as saucers.

“Olivia!” I screeched as I tried to cover my eyes, but it was too late, the image was permanently seared into my retinas.

Pretty sure I’d just witnessed a fish-god orgasm.

“Lily! Haven’t you ever heard of knocking?” she cried as she pushed Trevor away.

The demigod laughed and made no effort to cover himself up. I guessed even without the memory of all the orgy parties that Orion had hosted, the son of Poseidon wasn’t the shy type.

“What the hell is going on in here?” Orion’s voice boomed, sweeping over me like a wave of warm sunlight.

The effect made me relax and I ran to him, running my arms around his torso even though I couldn’t fully reach. I swear he’d gotten even more giant since returning to the Academy.

“Orion! It was horrible!” I lamented into his chest. “Fish penis!”

“What are you doing looking at Trevor’s penis?” he asked not missing a beat. He pointed a finger in accusation at the demigod. “Lily’s off-limits!”

Trevor raised his hands in surrender, which only revealed all of his shiny manly-bits to the room. “Hey, I’m exclusive to Olivia now. I swear, she walked in on us.”

Olivia finished yanking a waterproof shirt over herself and held up a towel in front of Trevor’s waist. “Quit flashing everyone,” she chided him.

He chuckled and wrapped the towel over his hips. “Gods. You’re all such prudes.”

Dante rolled his eyes. “Well, now that we know nobody’s dying in here, can we leave?” He shook one foot. “It’s… wet.”

“Yeah it is,” Trevor teased as he pinched Olivia’s butt.

“Trevor!” she screeched, her face turning bright red. “Gods, Lily I’m so sorry. I’m completely humiliated.”

“Please,” Trevor said as he swept a hand around her waist and pulled her close. “She’s been getting freaky with Orion so much I think I’m starting to see some glowing freckles on her nose.” He leaned in and squinted. “Yeah, I think I see one right there.”

Olivia laughed, so I let Trevor’s comments slide. “I uh, I’ll give you guys some privacy. Sorry for busting in. I just thought—”

“That I was hurting her?” Trevor asked with delight. He kissed Olivia’s head. “Was I hurting you, baby? If I was, I was hurting you good, right?”

She squirmed uncomfortably, clearly not interested in answering the question. “Yeah, if it’s okay Lily, I’ll see you later. I need to uh, wash up.”

The puddles around her feet slipped over her ankles as Trevor grinned. “I’ll help with that.”

Okaaaaay. That was my cue.

“Bye!” I shouted as I tugged Orion out of the room. I’d seen enough fishy-foreplay for one day.

“I always regret coming to the Demi-dorms,” Dante lamented as we returned down the stairs to the foyer.

“What brings you two by?” Orion asked, unperturbed by the recent display.

He settled a massive hand on my neck in that claiming motion he preferred.

He smiled as his freckles gleamed with sunlight, shining through him with its full glory.

I loved to see Orion like this and sex with him never got old—but that’s not why we were here, unfortunately.

“I enjoy having you to myself, but I’m not opposed to sharing with the Hunter, as long as you feel it’s safe. ”

“You can put your dick away,” Dante said, his tone flat as he crossed his arms. “This isn’t a social call. Lily has a way to break Kaito out of the Monster Arena.”

“And Cole,” I added firmly.

“Cole?” Orion asked, his eyes glowing with golden specks that matched his freckles. “The demon who is driving everyone mad?”

“Yup,” I answered, taking his wrist and dragging him out of the building. The dark fog felt cool around my ankles compared to Orion’s heat, proof that he was a good ally to have when I faced the demon of rage.

“And you want to free him… why?” Orion asked as he allowed me to drag him.

Dante huffed. “Because she’s delusional, but she’s also right.

He’s the only one strong enough around here to weaken the Dean long enough so that we can use this.

” He took out his dagger so that he could get to the Angelstone.

It gleamed against Orion’s light and jingled as if happy to have been let free from the dark scabbard.

A few students approached from a distance, but they kept their heads low. Dante returned the stone to its hiding place regardless.

“Are we bringing anyone else?” Orion asked. “The wolf is good for biting. It could annoy him, at least.”

“Funny,” I said, rolling my eyes. “But no. I need Virtues who won’t be affected by Cole’s powers.

You don’t have any deep-seated grudges that could be used against me, right?

” We’d more than ironed out our problems. Orion had once been one of my most difficult Virtues, but he never hid anything from me.

We worked out our problems on the spot and that’s what I liked about him.

Logan, though, was good at brooding and bottling things up. I was sure he had plenty of things we still hadn’t yet worked out, especially now that he was back with his pack. I’d have to deal with him later.

Orion gave Dante’s dagger a wary glance. “I would have expected the Hunter to be in that category, given your… history.”

I stopped in my tracks. “What do you mean?” Did he actually know that I’d tried to kill Dante when we’d first met? How many people knew that dark secret?

“He knows,” Dante said, unimpressed as he kept walking.

I stumbled to catch up with him. “So you told him before you told me? What the fuck, Dante?”

“It’s a demigod thing,” Dante said, sounding irritated. “Your rage demon isn’t the only one who can invade dreams.”

Orion gave me a low chuckle that had me wanting to ask a lot of questions. “You guys are going to tell me what’s been going on these past months when this is all over,” I ordered.

For now, we had a demon to catch.
