WILLOW #3
After I find the name and who they are, I get even more pissed. I close my eyes, resting my elbows on my desk and rubbing my temples, getting more annoyed by the second.
“Who is it?” Grey asks.
“The fucking Iron Reapers. The Knights had time to fix this after Sophia, but they didn’t take care of it, and now they have the next President of their club.
This was too planned out for going in blind.
They didn’t even find the traitor in their club.
” I take a breath after finishing my rant.
“I’m going to fucking finish this for them since apparently, it’s too difficult to clean up their own mess.
Then I’m done with their bullshit. I’m not dealing with a club that doesn’t follow through with the 1% patch that they wear on their cuts,” I say as I stand up and start stomping back to my room.
As I pass Grey on the way out of my office, he grabs my arm and stops me.
He steps up to me, slightly bending at the waist so our noses almost touch and says, “I think you accidentally said ‘I’ instead of ‘we.’” He takes a step back and walks to the room that he was originally staying in that he just uses to keep his clothes in at this point.
I smile as I watch Grey walk away. Once I’m done saving Knox and his club, cleaning up their mess, and possibly killing him for getting taken and worrying me like this, I’m going to fall in love with that man.
I hear a doorbell sound out of nowhere, and I freeze.
I look down at the phone in my hand and nothing is showing on the screen.
My heart rate kicks up as I look up from my phone and see Grey standing in his doorway, looking at me.
He has a confused look on his face as he asks, “Who’s here?
” I shake my head and bring up my security app on my phone.
When I see that every single camera on the property is down, all I can say is, “Shit,” as I start rushing down the hallway towards the door.
“Willow!” Grey shouts as he follows behind me.
I stop at the bookcase in the living room and pull out one of the guns that I hid in it and reach under the coffee table in front of the couch as I pass it on my way to the door, grabbing the knife that I stashed there.
I look to where Grey is standing behind me, looking surprised.
“It’s like you don’t even know me! I have weapons in every room.
Sometimes you don’t have time to go to a safe!
” I say defensively, keeping my voice low.
He says nothing as I turn around and continue to the door.
I hear knocking, but I’m not going to get close to it since I don’t have access to my cameras.
I’m not giving a chance for the person on the other side of it to open fire the second I try to look through the peephole.
After another round of knocking, I swear I hear a, “Fuck this shite,” but it’s muffled by the door. Next thing I know, my door is kicked in, cracking the beautiful, decorative glass that’s in the middle of it. I raise my gun to the person that steps through my now-destroyed door.
Stepping into my entryway, they must see me standing to the side. I feel Grey tense next to me, also pointing a gun that he didn’t have when we ran out here. He must have grabbed it from one of the hiding spots in the living room. They aren’t that hard to find, once you know I have them.
“Get the fuck down,” I say in a dark voice. I’m pissed! I re-finished that door myself, all the time I took picking out the perfect paint color is now wasted!
“You need to calm yourself, lass,” comes a smooth, deep voice that’s almost calming. He drops the gun to the floor that was in his hand and gives it a small kick to the other side of the room. Then, he slowly raises his hands.
“I need to calm down?! You fucking broke my damn door! If I let you keep any fingers after I’m done questioning you, you can bet your ass that you will be fixing it before I kill you!” I yell. Everyone knows not to tell a woman to “calm down.”
“I thought he got you. When you didn’t answer, I had to get in to check,” he says, his voice still deathly calm as he takes a few slow steps towards Grey and me out of the dark entryway, revealing a very tall, lean figure.
The light hits his face, and I get the feeling that I know him, but can’t place it.
He has wavy, dark auburn hair that goes everywhere, like he has run his hand through it.
He has a square jaw line that is covered with a dark, five o’clock shadow, like he hasn’t shaved in days but isn’t quite a beard yet.
I can see freckles on his face that spread over his nose that has clearly been broken a few times.
But when I get to his eyes, I stop in my tracks and slowly lower my gun.
“Willow?” I hear Grey’s confused voice, but I don’t respond to him. I just stare into the silver eyes of the first boy who broke my heart.
“Lochlan?” I whisper in shock.
“Hey, lass. It’s been a long time,” he says, lowering his hands and shoving them in his pockets. I can feel his eyes trail over me from head to toe as he says, “I think you have a stalker problem.”
Shit.
