Clover got one up on her but it was cool for now.

She didn’t know when or how, but she swore that she was gonna get her lick back and then some.

“Fuck my entire life and existence!” Clover sighed dramatically while holding her face in her hands. She was seated on the bench in her bathroom with Diva and Iva standing close by.

“Bitch, I’m excited and you might as well get excited too.” Diva was all smiles when she looked at the two pink lines on the pregnancy test.

“I ain’t never getting rid of this muthafucka now.”

“Girl, bye, you wasn’t gonna get rid of him before this,” Iva laughed.

“Please let this be my grandson.” Diva clasped her hands tight like she was praying.

“Seriously, Diva? This is a really fucked up time for me to be trying to have a baby.”

Clover couldn’t even say that she was shocked and she knew exactly when it happened.

She packed everything but her birth control pills when they accompanied Fonzo and Amina on their trip.

She was faithful with taking them so she didn’t think it was a big deal.

She was obviously wrong and the positive test was proof of it.

“Bitch, what are you trying to say?” Diva looked at her sideways.

“Look, y’all can discuss all that later. Monty said that he and Dash are on the way back with Kardi. Put that shit away,” Iva interrupted.

Dash and Kardi went to the mall, and Monty tagged along. Clover had been having dizzy spells and feeling sick a lot lately, prompting Diva to show up to her house with a pregnancy test. She and Iva were relaxing out back by the pool when she dragged her inside to take it.

“No cause this bitch sounds like she’s talking some abortion shit,” Diva fussed.

“That girl did not say that Diva, relax.” Iva loved her mother-in-law, but Diva was too damn over the top sometimes.

“Calm down, Diva. Ain’t nobody said nothing about no abortion. The timing is fucked up but it is what it is.” Clover shrugged.

“My baby can come home with me if you and Dash need to talk.”

“Talk about what?” Dash asked as he seemed to have appeared out of thin air.

As much as Clover loved her house, she hated that it was so big. She had an alarm system but she barely heard it most times if she was upstairs.

Dash glanced around the room, trying to see what was going on. When his eyes landed on the pregnancy test, he already knew. He tried his best to not jump for joy but he was happily cheering on the inside. He waited for somebody to say something, but they just looked at each other knowingly.

“Not now,” Clover said as she got up and headed downstairs. Dash picked up the test and smiled when he saw the two lines.

“Mommy! Look at all the stuff my daddy got me from the mall.” Kardi had about five bags on the sofa and she started pulling stuff out of them.

“Wait, baby, don’t put your new clothes on the floor.” Clover grabbed everything and sat it on the sofa.

“What’s up? Why everybody looking all weird and shit?” Monty asked when he saw Iva and his mother. They were usually more talkative, especially when Kardi was around.

“It’s nothing. Are you ready to go?” Iva asked.

“Aye, Lucky, let me talk to you right quick.” Dash came back downstairs with the test in his hand.

“Boy, put that pissy stick down somewhere.” Diva looked at him and frowned.

“Who is that for?” Monty stood up and asked.

“Damn sure not for me.” Iva gave him the side eye.

“Why you saying it like that? Would that be a bad thing if it was?” Monty and Iva had never really talked about having kids before, but he did want to be a father one day.

“Look, this ain’t even about y’all two so hush. Come on, baby, me and your uncle and auntie are gonna go help you put all your stuff away.” Diva gave Monty and Iva a knowing look. They caught on and followed her and Kardi upstairs.

“So, what, you wasn’t gon’ tell me or something?” Dash asked once he and Clover were alone.

“I just found out barely five minutes before you came, Boobie.”

“I hope you ain’t thinking about getting rid of it. If the baby goes, you’re going with it.” It was an idle threat, but he was hoping that wasn’t the plan.

“Nigga, please. You should know me well enough to know that I don’t even believe in abortions. And us having a baby don’t change a damn thing. We can co-parent with this one the same way we’re doing with Kardi.”

“What about doctor’s appointments and stuff? I was there for everything with Kardi. I’m not trying to miss a beat.”

“And you don’t have to. We’re too grown for all the extras. I’ll keep you informed about everything, so you can be there. Just don’t make this awkward, Boobie.”

“I’m not trying to. I’m happy. Are you?”

“I really don’t know how I feel. I haven’t even had time to process it yet.”

“You might as well let me hit it since you’re already pregnant.” Dash smirked.

“Get out and take that community dick with you.” Clover walked away, as Dash shook his head and laughed.

“Thank you, Jesus! Just one more chance, God, and I promise I won’t mess up again.”

Dash bowed his head and said a silent prayer of thanks.

He felt like his prayers had been answered.

He asked God to bring Clover back to him and He did it in the form of another child.

He felt more blessed than ever and he wasn’t gonna take it for granted.

Now, all he needed was for her to give him one more chance to get it right and he would spend the rest of his life making sure that she didn’t regret it.
