They had been running so much for the past few days that they decided to spend the entire Sunday inside. Monty cooked some smothered okra and fried fish, just like she asked him to. Once they ate, they watched a few movies and just relaxed.

“Nothing is wrong but I need you to find the number to the JP lock-up and make a call for me.”

Caprice had the right nigga and she was about to see that she could be touched just like the next bitch. She was always starting shit but she was gonna need a shovel to climb out of the hole that she had unintentionally dug for herself.

“This bitch been chewing since we came outside,” Iva fussed as she and her sister walked into yet another eatery with Amina and Clover.

She and Irie went to get waist beads from a shop on Magazine St. Amina and Clover were about to go get ice cream so they picked them up and decided to hang out for a while. The area that they were in didn’t have the best parking, so they parked in the lot of a closed bank and decided to walk.

It was a beautiful Sunday and lots of people were enjoying the day.

Amina was two days overdue so she jumped at any chance she got to stay active.

Fonzo’s nerves were bad as hell and he called her every twenty minutes whenever one of them was away from home.

He really didn’t want her to go but he felt better that she would be out with Clover.

“Girl, those pregnancy craving ain’t no joke.” Irie knew all too well how that felt. She craved something different with each of her pregnancies.

Clover was the most nonchalant pregnant woman that she’d ever encountered.

She didn’t perform or seek attention like some other expectant mothers.

She was cleaning her house the night before she had Kardi and was trying to cook a meal the day she came home.

If Dash and Diva hadn’t stopped her, she more than likely would have.

“Baby, pregnant or not, I will never ever come on Magazine St. and not stop by The Vintage,” Amina snapped her fingers as she spoke.

“I’ve never even heard of this place before.” Irie had been in that area more times than she could count but she didn’t remember ever seeing the vintage looking restaurant. The name fit perfectly with the ambience.

“Monty and I came here a few times but it’s been a while,” Iva noted.

“Either I stay inside too much or y’all hoes been gatekeeping. What do they even sell in here?” Irie asked.

“You have to try the beignet flight. Amina likes the matcha ones but I usually get the smores or the Chantilly berry. Now, I want some too,” Clover replied.

The three of them sat down and were placing their orders soon after. Besides the beignets, they ordered a few appetizers for Irie to try since she had never been there before.

“Look who’s chewing now.” Amina smirked as she watched Irie devour her food.

“I can’t even front, I see exactly why you wanted to stop here. This shit is good as hell. I gotta come back with my husband.” Irie’s mouth was full of goodness

“See, I told you. Troy is gonna love it too.”

“Yeah, I know he will. It’s different but in a good way,” Irie said right as Amina’s phone rang.

“Girl, tell your husband that you’re still in one piece. This is your last outing until after your six-week checkup. I feel like I’m out with a child.” Clover laughed, letting her know that she was only joking.

It was their first child and Fonzo’s reaction was normal. She thought it was cute that he kept checking to make sure she was straight.

Amina answered the phone and playfully repeated what Clover said back to her husband. He thought it was funny too, but they already knew how he was. Fonzo was excited about the arrival of his baby girl and so was his brothers.

“I got it, y’all. I’m going to the bathroom but tell the waiter to keep the change.”

Amina put some money on the table before she got up and wobbled to the bathroom.

The lower part of her back had been hurting for the past few days and it only felt better when she was standing or walking.

Once she relieved her bladder, she washed her hands and headed back to the table where her girls were sitting.

Her heart rate sped up and she paused as soon as she saw the man who’d just walked inside.

He had a hate-filled look on his face as he seemed to be approaching her.

She didn’t know what came over her, but it wasn’t fear.

It was more like anger with a hint of frustration.

She had been too happy lately to let anyone, including her bitch ass ex, steal her joy.

Amina was ready to grab a knife off of the table and put him out of his misery.

Before she even had a chance, Clover, Iva and Irie jumped up and started swinging on him.

“Oh, my God!” Amina yelled as she pulled Clover away from the impromptu brawl. She was pregnant and she didn’t want anything to happen to her unborn baby. Thankfully, two men at the table next to theirs hurriedly broke it up before they could destroy the place.

“Stupid ass nigga just don’t get enough. I should shoot your retarded ass,” Clover spat angrily as she stuck her hand inside of her purse.

“Clover, no. I appreciate you, but please don’t get yourself into any trouble over me. He’s not even worth it.” Amina snatched Clover’s purse from her hand. She knew what was inside and she knew that her sister-in-law wasn’t afraid to use it.

“This has nothing to do with you. I got a restraining order on his bitch ass so I won’t go to jail if I send him back to his nasty ass mammy in a body bag.”

“Wait, what? This is the man that you had the problems with?” Amina asked in shock.

“Yeah, that’s his bitch ass,” Clover sneered.

“God, this can’t be real. This is the ex that I was telling you about.” Tears fell from Amina’s eyes as she pointed to Trent.

“What!” Both Clover and Iva yelled at the same time.

By then, Trent was back up on his feet while the two men who broke up the fight stood in front of him.

Amina felt lightheaded as she looked over at the man who made her life a living hell at one time.

Trent was mentally unstable, but she found that out too late.

Her parents tried to talk his parents when things went left with them but that didn’t do any good.

His father was apologetic and offered to help any way he could.

His mother was a bitch who would rather take his side before getting him help.

Even getting a restraining order on him was a waste because he still came around.

He kept telling Amina that she was gonna be his wife one day and telling him no seemed to be a trigger.

His mood changed so fast that it seemed to scare him just as much.

Eventually, she had him arrested for violating the protective order and that seemed to do the trick.

She still saw him around occasionally but she couldn’t help if they were at the same place at the same time.

Trent was shocked when he saw and heard what was going on.

He’d seen Amina in passing multiple times but he didn’t remember ever seeing her with Clover.

He was curious as to how they even knew each other.

Amina was the one who’d introduced him to the restaurant that they were in.

He loved the food and desserts so he decided to stop in for lunch after his workout.

He didn’t expect to get beat down yet again but, thankfully, it wasn’t like before.

They got in a few good licks, but it was over just as quickly as it started.

Now, he wanted Clover to suffer more than ever.

“My stomach hurts.” Amina grabbed the bottom of her stomach and held on to the table.

“Shit, I’m going get the car.” Iva wasted no time running out of the restaurant in the direction of where her car was parked.

“Do you need an ambulance?” The waitress walked over with a concerned look on her face.

“No, call my husband.” Amina’s face twisted in pain, as Clover called her husband. She heard the panic in Fonzo’s voice once Clover told him what was going on.

“Just meet us at the hospital. Iva went to get the car. Make sure you call Hank and Diva to let them know what’s up,” Clover talked calmly, hoping to calm Fonzo down too. He was in full panic mode, but she understood. She also understood why he preferred his wife to stay close to him.

“There go Iva!” Irie yelled when she saw her sister pull up.

“Can you walk, sis?” Clover asked as she grabbed Amina by the arm.

“Yeah, I’m good. My stomach is just cramping.”

Amina slowly made her way outside and to the car. Trent watched as both his exes and the two other women hopped into the car and sped away. He was so angry that he didn’t even have an appetite anymore. The only thing on his mind was murder and the bullseye was on Clover’s back.
