Chapter 1 Fracture #2
“Oh, for fuck’s sake.” A woman in a suit of dark armor stalks into the room, slinging her rifle between her shoulder blades, and grabbing a pair of pliers from a tool belt.
Her satiny ponytail is a long flash of soft, dark gold that is out of place in this conference of males: armored humans, scaly Solcrue, and metal Titans. Her gold-brown eyes flash through those we’ve captured. As she steadies the pliers in a hand, I notice her tracework-laced flesh.
She’s an Augment.
But it’s the confident way she charges to the center of the enemy like she’s not afraid of them that knocks my ultromotor into a sprint.
An alarming sensation in my cock makes me fragment into a humanoid cloud and shift back to Crezlith. No one can see me get hard when I am in pieces because it’s impossible to tell what is what. But I know. And I still feel the energy pulsing there.
Right behind Rebel Roxi is Esthi, our CyberTech, Sefina, the Sentinel, and Kelta, the Rebel pilot. They were not on our original infiltration plan. I check as Roxi forces open the mouth of a CSP soldier and looks inside.
Roxi…
I keep my mind locked from the telenet while I pull up recordings shared from other Brothers.
She’s worked on the riskiest of Solcruean Salvage missions for the Rebels.
“Hmm. That’s what I thought.” Roxi switches something on her rifle, then shoots every single CSP human and Solcruean male in the room. They seize and fall limp.
One foams at the mouth and flops to the ground.
“Damn it. Wasn’t fast enough.” Roxi adjusts her earcom and squats beside his limp body. “They’ve recently started implanting false molars with one of a few things: cyanide, amphetamines, or sleep aids that make them unresponsive. Not hard to guess which one this dude had.”
“They’re anticipating this?” Menace asks, his canines still elongated, making his words snarl.
A Solcruean soldier that she’s stunned looks at her with too much precision for a recently shot soldier. I notice him covertly repositioning his gun as he chews on something.
Amphetamines…
I reform my body, walk over to him, kick the gun out of his hand, then pick him up by his throat.
He thrashes. I block his swing, but the male wedges a boot against a wall and shoves me over with surprising strength.
I wrestle him to the floor and get him in a headlock.
He squirms, and I realize he’s not going to stop.
Psycho>>Fracture: Shatter him, Brother.
Demon>>Fracture: What are you waiting for?
He’s drugged. He doesn’t know how he’s behaving. And suddenly, I fear what the gorgeous Roxi will think of me if I simply annihilate everyone not on my side, like I do not show consideration for consequences.
Mostly, I don’t want her to see that side of me.
Still, when he punches me in the face, instinct takes over.
My body reacts in a way I can’t stop. My fragments rise like hackles.
I become a razor-sharp Titan surface that slices him open everywhere he touches me.
It only takes one movement, and he cuts his own throat open on my body.
The Solcrue chokes and slumps in a pool of his own blood.
“Nice. Should’ve called you Razor.” Sefina snickers as she steadies her rifle beside me. “Air bump?”
She lifts a fist. I lift mine, and she motions an explosion as I do the same.
I expect no less from Menace’s mate. Sefina is as wild as females come—an adrenaline junkie for sure.
Esthi looks at me in slight fear. She’s used to the protective skin of her mate, Armor.
Kelta passes me like it is just normal to walk through Solcruean blood and work with a dangerous Titan.
She takes up a guard position at Roxi’s back.
Kelta is mated to Thruster, who has engines all over his body that make him a humanoid fighter jet.
I wonder how exactly they do it without him smoking her.
I will never have a female tough enough to handle me because we lost the war with Solcrue, and the Titan labs were destroyed. There is no one left to make female Titans for those of us with dangerous husks.
The moment I’m not needed in Titan form, I fragment again. When I check on Roxi, she’s looking down at the Solcrue who’s just committed suicide via my body.
Relief fills her warm gaze. “Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.”
Roxi’s gaze lingers for a moment on my cloud. She smiles, then returns to her task of ripping out teeth.
And I mean it.
She yanks teeth out, cracks them open, then sorts our captives by what they had.
Amphetamine and cyanide carriers get clustered together with extra guards.
Roxi says they will resist most. Sleep med carriers get pushed aside with only a handful of Brothers watching them.
Roxi says they will be the first to cave.
Evo>>Fracture: Do we have him?
Fracture>>Evo: Crezlith is secured beside me.
He clicks back twice. Evo got my message. He took the bridge with his twin, Eon.
Navi>>Local: Supplies scavenged and off-loaded. Please transfer prisoners to the Ravenger’s cells.
A visual map appears in my mind. Navi is the only human who can communicate with Titans like a Titan, including nonverbal forms, without a StarJumper’s suit. Craze’s mate is just as risk-inclined and capable as he is.
Even Fury, who has Torch Mode like Demon, is mated to Keanna.
I am destined to be alone forever because I literally can’t touch a human in my Titan form. Not without something between us.
Navi>>Local: Put them in exam chairs. I want to give them a taste of Sevrin’s experiments.
I think she’s going to enjoy this a little bit too much.
Crezlith won’t open his mouth when Roxi snaps her pliers at him. He hisses at her.
I solidify my body and pick Crezlith up by the back of his armor with more force than necessary.
Roxi looks up at me with dark delight. “Open up, or I’ll make him do it for me.”
“I would love to,” I rumble. “Please be defiant.”
Crezlith glances between us and groans while he waggles his head.
I lift a hand, pull up the feeling of raising my hackles, and command my skin to prickle into shards. “I promise it will be far more painful my way.”
Crezlith curls a lip.
I pat his face, giving him a face full of tiny cuts. “You really wanna fight with me?”
