Chapter Forty-Seven

Luke

I should have known last night would have overwhelmed Fallon.

What happened was a fucking lot. I’m used to seeing trauma on the daily, but what happened in my parents' place was a whole other level of crazy. I haven’t slept at all since before we went to the gala, so I'm not surprised I fell asleep the moment I had Fallon back in my arms. Being with her brings me a kind of peace I have always craved, but never found.

I tried to give her space, I really did, but I know that woman better than she knows herself.

The longer I left her to stew, the worse the situation would have been.

If she didn’t want me, I would walk away with my tail between my legs, but she can’t hide from me.

She loves me, and her pulling away only causes pain for the both of us.

Fallon is still fast asleep, snoring like a banshee, as I sneak out of the room, but I need to call Dom to check on Dad.

Before I get the chance, I’m faced with two worried expressions staring at me.

Tommy is sitting at the table, presumably working with his laptop, whilst Maya is pacing around the room.

“Well?” Maya asks, standing rigid.

“All is right in the world,” I smile, thinking of just how right it feels now I know how my girl feels.

“We gathered as much,” she smirks.

“Next time, remember her brother is in the other room,” Tommy grimaces, shaking off his disgust.

“Sorry man, I didn’t even think,” or more like my dick and heart were doing the thinking instead of my brain.

Maya laughs, rushing over to pull me in for a hug.

“She is okay though? I haven’t seen her act like that in a very long time.”

“I think she will be.”

Maya's shoulders visibly relax. Fallon has been through so much, no wonder she’s scared of what we have. But that’s all the more reason to fight for it.

“Maya filled me in on, well, everything,” Tommy admits, wiping a palm over his face. “That fucker won’t be seeing the light of day if I have anything to do with it. I don’t want Fallon to have anything else to do with him. Between you, me and the boys, I think we can get him locked up for good.”

“Whatever you need me to do, I will.”

“Right now, I just need you to look after my sister.”

“That won't be a problem.”

Sitting out on the deck at the back of Maya's cabin is the calmest and freest I have felt in a long time. I’ve seen where their new home is going to be, but I couldn’t imagine ever wanting to leave here.

There is no one nearby, and all you can hear is nature all around.

Birds are singing, the river is flowing, and even the odd fish splash as they come up to the surface.

I make a mental note to ask her what she is planning on doing with the place when they go.

Dom messaged earlier to say he was heading into work, and I plan on joining him as soon as Fallon wakes up.

I need to see my dad. I know everything is fine, but seeing and knowing are two different things entirely.

More than anything, I need to know what Tommy’s plan is with John.

That bastard needs to suffer for not only what he did to my girl, but also my family, too.

My mind is on another plane when soft arms wrap around me from behind.

I don’t need to look to know who it is. The gesture may be small to other couples, but for Fallon to come up and touch me so freely, without prompting, is new to me.

She rests her head on top of mine, and I lean my head back against her chest.

“I love it here,” she says wistfully.

“So do I,” I admit. “Her new place must be something special to leave this behind.”

“It really is. You should see what they’ve done so far. It’s going to be a few months until the build is complete, but it’s looking perfect.”

I can’t imagine anything more perfect than this moment, here, right now.

“You will see it in a few weeks anyway,” she says, leaning to kiss my cheek before moving to sit beside me.

“Are we going to visit?”

“Well, I should hope so. It’s where they're holding the wedding,” she giggles.

Oh shit, with everything going on, I completely forgot about that.

“Ah, I see how it is,” I tease, wrapping my arms around her and pulling her onto my knee. She curls up against me, leaning her head against my chest. “You’re using me as your plus one.”

“Obviously,” she laughs. “What else would I keep you around for?”

“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe all the orgasms I give you.”

“I can do those all by myself, thank you,” she laughs out loud as I pinch her waist.

Leaning closer to her ear, I whisper. “But doesn’t it feel so much better knowing I’m the one giving them to you?” Her breath hitches, and she shimmies herself against my hardening dick. “Be careful, your brother already heard us this morning, we don’t need to piss him off even more.”

That really has her laughing.

“Serves him right for the number of times I've walked in on him and Maya dry humping each other.”

We go silent for a moment, simply enjoying the peace that we haven’t felt for a while. Yet, there is still a sense of apprehension that nags at the back of my mind.

“Fal?”

“Mhmm?”

“We’re okay, aren’t we?”

She turns her body in my arms so we’re facing one another.

“More than okay,” she smiles.

Thank fuck for that.
