I ran my fingers through my hair, glancing at the doorway, waiting for Scout to come back with the bowl of popcorn. It was girls’ night, which meant Theo was locked in his bedroom while Trin, Scout, Willow, Gracie, and I watched movies in the theater room.
“So,” I said, nudging Trin with my foot. “How did it go?”
Her cheeks flushed red, and she shrugged, but it was too forced to be casual. She tugged the neck of her hoodie over her chin, hiding her smile.
“It was good, then?” I asked, and she shrugged again.
“It was…interesting.”
“Interesting?” I repeated, and her head fell back as she laughed.
“I don’t know what else to say?—”
“Everything!” I squealed. “Oh, my god. Did he kiss you?”
She lifted her head, eyes boring into mine. My mouth fell open.
“Oh, my god—did you kiss him ?”
“No,” she muttered, then pressed her hand over her eyes. “Well, kind of.”
“Oh, my god!” I shifted onto my knees, gripping her arm. “Tell me everything!”
Without a word, she tugged on her hoodie, exposing her neck. It took me a moment to realize what I was looking at, and when I did, my jaw hit the floor.
“Is that a hickey?” I asked, but she didn’t say anything. I lifted my eyes to hers. “Did you make out?” A shrug—a fucking shrug . “Did you…” She tugged her bottom lip between her teeth, a guilty smile spreading. “Trinity Caldwell—did you fuck Dean Barlowe?”
