4. Aghast

Hale walked in with the chart and stopped.

Aghast. White coat. Clipboard to his chest like a shield.

The gown still hung on the hook where he’d told her to put it.

His patient was folded over the exam chair — navy skirt a belt, ripped hose a tan cuff, tits out over beige cups, pearls ticking, one trainee buried in her shaved pink, one shining on her tongue, both hips red from spanking.

Shredded paper. Spit on the speculum tray.

Alcohol wipes and sex. Diane looked at him upside down and did not close her knees. She spread them on the pedals instead.

“This is not an exam,” Hale said.

Voice gone thin. Protocol with nowhere to sit.

Diane pulled off the trainee at her mouth long enough to speak. Chin wet. Knot listing. Greeting line dead on the floor with the hose.

“Shut the door or watch. You said it wasn’t necessary. I hiked my own skirt. I put their hands on my tits. I pulled them out. You left for a chart you didn’t need. Don’t you get holy now. Don’t you fetch a nurse. Watch or get in line.”

He wanted to leave.

His hand found the knob. Didn’t turn it.

The trainees had frozen for one ugly second — caught, young, still in her — and then Diane backed onto the one behind her, a filthy little roll, and they started again because she told them to with her ass.

Hale watched one stroke. The wet sound. The spank that followed her moan.

Then two strokes. Then his eyes on the clean-shaven pink stretched around his trainee.

Diane moaned on purpose so he’d hear what Room 3 sounded like when the clipboard was a lie.

The door stayed open a foot.

A hallway phone rang. Squeaky linoleum somewhere else. Nobody came. Hale’s other hand hung stupid at the edge of his coat, not in his pocket, not on himself yet, not on the gown.

He did not walk away.

He also did not say *stop.*

Diane took the cock back in her mouth and looked at her doctor while she did it, eyes open, church-committee woman making the appointment honest.

He shut the door with his foot.

The crack died. Hallway phone cut off. Chart still against his chest for one more useless second, then the clipboard landed on the counter because his hand had something else to do.

Hale palmed himself through the slacks under the white coat — aghast and hard, a doctor hiding in his own room — and watched his trainees turn Diane onto her back on the wrecked chair.

One cock back in her mouth. One back in the clean-shaven pink.

She was a mess of navy skirt and ripped hose and beige bra and pearls, church-committee wreckage on official paper.

She looked at Hale while they moved her and she did not cover her tits.

“Take it out,” she said, sloppy, mean. “Or don’t. Watch the check. You left. You said it wasn’t necessary. This is what necessary looks like. My husband checks a box. You’re in the room. Act like it.”

He didn’t take it out yet.

He stroked over the cloth, ugly rhythm, eyes on the wet stretch of her around his trainee.

They folded her over again because she asked — ass up, spanked hips red, pink shining, mouth open for the other one.

Hale’s breath went ragged. His hand slid inside the slacks.

Diane watched that and moaned louder on purpose, backed onto the man behind her, and took the spank that came with the stroke so Hale would hear both sounds together.

“That’s it. Watch them fuck your patient. I hiked it. I pulled them out. Spank— *fuck*— he never spanks. He never stays. Don’t you walk out now.”

Room 3 was locked.

The gown on the hook had no one left to save.

Hale’s fist moved inside his own clothes like a secret, and his eyes stayed on the place his staff disappeared into a woman who had come in for routine, and he still had not said an exam word that mattered.

The speculum tray ticked when her hand hit it.

The chair was dead against the cabinet. Diane drooled on a trainee and looked at her doctor and let him be aghast and hard and silent, a third man who hadn’t joined and hadn’t left.

The chart on the counter said routine.

Nothing in the room did.

He didn’t join.

He watched them switch her again — onto her back, onto her side, over the dead chair — and his fist moved inside the slacks under the open white coat, aghast worn down to hungry.

Diane’s clean-shaven pink was a wet wreck, spanked hips red, ripped hose a tan cuff, pearls ticking when her head jerked.

One trainee in her cunt. One in her mouth.

Hale’s eyes stayed on the stretch, on the shine, on the place his staff disappeared into a woman who had hiked her own navy skirt.

She came on the cock inside her with his gaze on her, a hard shake, a moan she aimed at the man with the chart.

“Look at it. That’s your patient. That’s the check you said wasn’t necessary.”

They spanked her through the aftershock.

The sound made Hale flinch and stroke faster, ugly, caught.

Diane laughed, wrecked, church-committee mouth shining, and told him the next time anyone opened that door it had better be him putting it in her mouth or a nurse getting an eyeful. She didn’t care which.

“You’re hard in your own exam room. That’s the chart now. When you’re done hiding in your coat you put it on my tongue. I came here for a doctor. You sent trainees. Now you watch trainees fuck me and you jerk off like a hallway. Don’t you waste it in the cloth. Don’t you walk out. I hiked it.

I asked. You stayed.”

Hale didn’t answer.

He also didn’t come. He held the edge of the counter with the hand that wasn’t in his slacks and watched his staff use his patient and kept himself on a line he hadn’t decided to cross.

The gown stayed on the hook like a coward.

The hose stayed at her knees. The speculum tray had spit and a pearl reflection.

Room 3 smelled like alcohol wipes and sex and a secret that already had three men in it and a fourth about to stop pretending the clipboard mattered.

Diane looked at him over a trainee’s hip, spread, dripping, mean.

“Next stroke you take it out for real,” she said. “Or I tell them to open the door.”

He took it out.

Not into her. Into the air of his own room, hard, shining, aghast and decided. He still didn’t step forward. That was the last lie he had.
