Chapter 40 - Nick
“Have you lost your fuckin’ mind?” Nick seethed once he and Declan were alone. “I was about to—to—” Fuck. Nick didn’t know what he’d been going to do, but he was sure he was about to make things right. “You know what? This shit is your fault. I knew I should’ve left your ass.”
“I waited as long as I could, Nicky. You were taking too long, so blame yourself. You started it anyway.”
Nick raised a clenched fist, blood boiling as if a fire had been set beneath him. “What did you say to me?”
“You’re taking your precious time. What a waste. And then you have the damn nerve to get all jealous? Reece did look cute, though.”
“You dick,” Nick hissed, hooking an arm around Declan’s neck and choking him out all the way to the kitchen table, which was hardly visible under the spread of food. “Looks like your ass has already been eating.”
“I said I waited as long as I could. I was bored.” Declan wrestled his way free, and then he and Nick sat across from each other at the table. “I thought your asses were never getting up. Can’t blame you, that bed was comfy and you’re a good cuddler.”
“What?” Nick growled.
“What?” Declan replied innocently.
“Are you two arguing?” Reece padded over in a pair of black leggings and an over-sized white t-shirt.
“No way, he’s just hungry,” Declan said with a grin. “You look like you slept well.”
“I did,” Reece said, walking to Nick’s side of the table and glancing over the assortment of food. His knees brushed Nick’s leg, and he continued to stand there until Nick patted his leg in invitation, and then he sat there on Nick’s lap. “I slept late though… I still have to pack and everything.”
“Us too,” Nick sighed, a hand on Reece’s side, holding him subtly. “At least we can have breakfast.”
“Yeah,” Reece hummed and smiled at him. “I like breakfast.”
It was like being home again. All those mornings they shared, being with Reece and having breakfast with him again, sitting in Nick’s lap, it made Nick think about all the mornings they could have.
They could both be happy if they built their lives together instead of separately.
Nick just had to make sure Reece agreed.
The morning was over too quickly, the time for Nick and Declan to leave arriving too soon.
Reece’s flight was earlier than theirs, but they had a long ride back to their hotel.
Nick stopped caring about Declan being right there watching them and just embraced Reece, wishing he didn’t have to let go.
“You know, if you two wanna fuck, we can spare a few minutes,” Declan teased.
“A few minutes wouldn’t even get us started.
” Nick would need hours. Days even. He had a lot of missed time to make up for.
And he needed to tell Reece as much, so he lifted his head to look at him and cradled his face in both hands.
“We need more time… So, when we see each other again, I’ll be able to say everything I need to say. ”
“Okay, Nicky.” Reece nodded once and then Nick kissed him, soft but deep and lingering. Just a touch to his lips, though, and nothing beyond that, because Nick was too close to snapping and forcing both of them to miss their flights.
“I want to know when you make it back safe. Got it?”
“G-got it.” Reece nodded more frantically, knees giving out when Nick kissed him again on the lips.
“You’re fuckin’ killin’ me.”
Reece whimpered but threw his arms around Nick’s neck and stole another kiss. “Wait for me, Nicky, and I’ll make all the time in the world for you. Promise.”
“I’ll be waiting,” Nick promised and held Reece until they didn’t have a single moment more to spare.
