Chapter 26

Raven felt sick and tired, but she wanted some wings so bad, and she wanted them fried hard. After her appointment, her and Diric went to her favorite wing spot. Some days, she didn’t have an appetite but on this day, she was ready to fuck shit up.

“You think you gon’ feel like going to the dinner to celebrate Canyon’s shorty passing her real estate class?

” Diric asked when he eyed the weary expression on Raven’s face.

She was trying to be a trooper and push through how she felt because every day that she woke up still pregnant, she rejoiced despite how bad she felt.

One thing she refused to do was complain.

The way she felt would be worth it in the end if she got to hold her baby.

“Yeah. I can make it. My cousin is going to handle things at the recovery house for me. All I have to do is go look at the second house with you, and I can rest until it’s time for us to go.”

Raven had the money to get a second house, but she knew with Diric’s money, she could get a bigger house.

A bigger house meant more girls and more money.

When he told her that he was leaving the game once his fifty pounds were gone, she asked him if he wanted to be her partner for the second location, and he agreed with no hesitation.

In fact, he said fuck just two locations.

He was also looking into opening houses in Charlotte, Atlanta, and Miami.

There were no shortage of women getting surgery, and he wanted in.

He also gave Raven the money to purchase scrubs wholesale and open her own scrub line boutique.

He was investing in her and helping himself at the same time.

They got their food and was on their way out the door when a female came in, and Raven stopped in her tracks. The female walked past her with a sheepish expression on her face, but Raven continued to stare after the female.

“Who is that?” Diric asked.

“One of the hoes that jumped me. I swear to God, she better be glad I want this baby so bad. I would see that slut when I’m pregnant and can’t do shit.”

Shorty was standing in line trying to act like she didn’t hear Raven, but she did.

Raven was speaking loud and clear. Diric’s eyes darted around the restaurant.

He spotted a short chubby female wearing a bonnet.

She was sitting with a guy, and Diric walked over to them.

The man looked up slightly intimidated when Diric approached the table.

He didn’t know what the man wanted, but he could tell he had money.

His female companion looked up equally interested to see what his fine ass wanted.

“Yo, can you fight?”

Shorty chuckled at the strange question. “Yeah. Why?”

“I got $500 for you right now if you go knock the wax out that bitch’s ears.”

Ole girl’s eyes widened. “Her?” she pointed at the female.

“Yeap.”

“Say the fuck less. Wrap this shit up, bae. After I slide this hoe, we gotta be out.”

She felt like it was her lucky day. Her hair needed to be done, hence the bonnet, and her cell phone was off.

Five hundred dollars would save her day, and all she had to do was rock a hoe?

She did that for free often. Stunned, Raven watched as ole girl in the bonnet walked up to Jenise’s friend and hit her so hard that she flew into the counter.

The girl with the bonnet grabbed Jenise’s friend up by the collar of her shirt and proceeded to dust her off.

She tried to fight back, but she was no match for shorty in the bonnet.

She was dusting the friend off a lil’ worse than Jenise got dusted off.

Bonnet yanked old girl across the freshly mopped floor and beat her out of the door that Diric was holding open for her. People were recording, and he was dying of laughter. Finally, he broke it up. “Aight Laila Ali, the police gon’ be pulling up any minute. Get this bread, so I can go.”

He paid her and looked at the girl that had been humiliated. “The next time you see my girl, you better not even look in her direction. That was for jumping her but on God, if you ever bother her again, it’s gon’ be up for yo’ ass.”

Diric and Raven got in his car, and she erupted into laughter. “You crazy as hell!”

“Bruh, I do not play ‘bout you. Ever. With niggas or bitches.”

She leaned over and kissed him. “I love you,” she smiled at him. It was the first time she ever said it, but she didn’t care that she said it first. It was how she felt, and she meant it.

“I love you too, shawty.”

“Got damn,” Canyon stated as he opened his front door for Yohana. He was going to pick her up, but she offered to come to him. Kari was with her mom, so she was going to spend the night with Canyon for the first time in his new house.

Yohana was dressed in a pair of baggy pants with super flared legs.

They were white with pink, black, yellow, and blue print on them.

She wore a matching mock neck top that showed a tad bit of her stomach.

Her pants had a high waist, so even with the skin showing, her look was super classy.

Her powder blue heels set the outfit off and in her hand, was a powder blue Chanel bag.

Yohana looked like she belonged on his arm.

She smiled, stepped inside, and gave him a kiss. A few days before her exam, Yohana had been a raging lunatic. She stressed and pushed herself and doubted herself. Canyon remained patient with her, and he didn’t take any of it personal.

“I want to give you something before we leave.” He grabbed her hand and led her into the kitchen.

“Oh my God, Canyon,” Yohana gasped when she walked into the kitchen and saw several vases all filled with red roses. There must have been ten dozen roses. He walked her over to the counter and picked up a black, velvet box.

When he opened it, Yohana peeped the iciest watch she had ever seen in person. Aside from the ones Canyon wore. “This is beautiful,” she looked down at the time piece in awe as he clasped it around her wrist. “Since we’re giving gifts, I have something for you too.”

Canyon looked up at her. “Oh yeah. What’s that?”

Yohana cleared her throat. “How do you feel about me? Be completely honest. As long as you’re honest, I can handle anything,” she assured him.

Canyon peered into her eyes. He stared at her for so long that she became nervous. Yohana shifted her weight from one leg to the other. Finally, he spoke. “I love you. I mean that shit from the bottom of my heart. Don’t know if I’ve ever loved anyone the way that I love you,” he confessed.

Yohana opened her purse and pulled out a white stick. “So, you won’t be upset to see this.”

Canyon’s heart thumped in his chest. His eyes fell on the two pink lines on the pregnancy test, and a broad grin spread across his face.

“Yohana,” he looked up at her and back down at the test. “I’m gon’ be a father?

” In all his years a female had never even had a pregnancy scare.

This was the first time he ever got to experience a pregnancy test moment.

“Yeah you are,” she laughed.

He kissed her so hard and fast that he had to wrap his arms around her to keep her from falling. Canyon kissed her with so much passion that it scared the both of them. They were locked in. Forever.
