Epilogue

Finn

I was on fire tonight.

After talking to Brody, I made a few changes in my life, starting with a new rule not to talk about my personal life in the press. Next, I worked harder than ever before to make up for the loss I had caused my team.

After scoring three goals and two assists, I was proud to say that our team was working like a well-oiled machine.

Back in the locker room, the guys cheered, some popped bottles of champagne, while others gave high fives.

After Coach gave his speech, I quickly showered, dressed, and made my way to the one place where I knew I would find my heart.

I found Brody in the trainers’ room, his hands shaking as he stocked the medical cart. He saw me and smiled. “You had a great game. I was watching from the stands,” he said.

Slowly, I made my way to him, drinking in every inch of this incredible man that was mine.

When I reached him, I grabbed his hand and pulled him to me. “Did you see my goals? Each one was for you,” I told him.

Brody blushed. “You were incredible,” he breathed.

Placing a kiss on his lips, I ran one hand over his neck and down his chest. “Just wait to see how incredible I am when I get you in bed later,” I breathed.

Brody kissed me back. This was the life I wanted. Being able to kiss Brody without worrying that someone would catch us felt good. He still didn’t like all of the photos of us or the rumors, but he wasn’t running away anymore.

Neither of us was.

We walked out of the rink together and into our new life—just the two of us.

The End.
