8. Piper
“Oh, hell no! I know you fucking lying, Khalil!” I jolted out of my sleep after hearing a woman’s voice scream.
I shot up from the bed, slightly delirious and forgetting where the hell I was for a moment.
It wasn’t until my eyes adjusted to my surroundings that I saw Nia Armstrong standing in the doorway of Khalil’s bedroom, giving me the death stare.
The bathroom door swung open, and Khalil rushed out with his handsome face set into a deep scowl. He only wore a towel, body dripping with water and hair pulled up in a man bun.
Jesus!
Shouldn’t nobody be looking that good in the morning.
“What the fuck is this?” She directed the question to him but pointed at me.
“It’s none of your fucking business, Nia. Why are you in my crib this early? Ya ass ain’t been here in days.”
“I had appointments to go to! I would have come sooner if I’d known you’d be fucking other bitches where you fuck me!”
Piper, wake up! Get your shit and go, girl. Why the hell are you still standing here!
Feeling the slickness between my legs and cool air on my bare-ass cheeks, I looked around before spotting my clothes on the chair where I placed them last night and put them on in a hurry.
Thoughts of him waking me up a few hours ago with his mouth attached to my pussy like a suction cup made me regret ever allowing him to do what we’d done.
“Nia, get the fuck out of my room. I won’t say it again.”
“Fuck you! I ain’t going nowhere!” she screamed. Just then, the baby’s cries blared through the monitor, and I knew that was my second cue to get the fuck on.
I snatched my bag from the floor in the corner, feeling like a side chick about to do the walk of shame. I just knew my hair was all over the place at this point, and I looked freshly ate.
“Piper, wait a minute. Stay right there.”
“No. I’m leaving,” I told him, shaking my head.
“Just wait. I’m going to take you back to campus like I promised. Just—hold on. Nia, get the fuck out. That’s my last time telling you.” He then rushed out to get to Kiyanne, I assumed. Nia stood in the doorway, blocking my path, looking as if she wanted to hit me.
“Excuse me,” I bit out.
“Nah. What the fuck were you doing in my baby daddy’s bed, bitch?”
“Hey! What the hell is going on?” A woman I assumed was Khalil’s mom, because he looked just like her, stepped up behind Nia.
Nia turned to her. “Your son is what’s going on! He got this tacky broad in his bed and around our daughter!”
“Nia, it’s freaking five in the morning. Why are you even here this early? And a bigger question is, why are you worried about who he has in his bedroom?”
“Ma, get Nia’s ass out of here before I strangle her ass!” I could hear Khalil yell from down the hall, his voice getting closer.
“What?” Nia asked, appalled and looking in the direction he was coming from.
It was too much going on too damn early. I did not sign up for this shit.
“Mrs. Grey?” I queried.
She looked to me. “It’s Stanford, love.”
“My apologies, Mrs. Stanford. I know you don’t know me, but I could really use a ride back to school.”
She was about to speak before Khalil cut her off.
“She’s not taking you. I am,” he said, rubbing his daughter’s back to soothe her cries.
“You ain’t taking her nowhere, Khalil! You got your nerve, bringing this mutt in here and fucking her on the bed you fuck me on.”
“Nia! You have completely lost your damn mind. Get your disrespectful ass out of here. You’re worried about the wrong thing when you should be concerned about your baby!”
I need to get out of here.
Khalil handed the baby to his mom and moved Nia out of my way before taking my hand and leading me away. I saw her hand coming toward me, but Khalil was quick and pushed her away from me.
“Keep it up, and I’m going to forget you’re a woman,” he warned her.
“You protecting this bitch? You love her or something? How long this shit been going on behind my back!” she screamed at him before looking at me. “Don’t come back around here, slut!” The crazy look in her eyes let me know she didn’t have it all.
I left my mace on my nightstand in my room, so I would have to use basic combat if this ho touched me. I wasn’t about to fight over dick I hadn’t been able to sample, but if she jumped at me one more time, I would be forced to lay her ass out.
In my quest to make the dream I had about Khalil a reality, I wasn’t thinking about the fact that he, indeed, had a baby mother.
That I was sure he was still fucking, according to her.
I knew it had to be true because she had access to his home, so I was sure he had given her a key. If she knew her baby daddy was eating me like a holiday meal, I’d hate to know what she would do if she ever found out.
This is fucking crazy.
“What is going on!” I could hear Nana yell from downstairs.
“Nia, if I have to put this baby down, it ain’t gon’ be shit nice!” Mrs. Stanford yelled.
I was able to get away from Khalil before he could touch me again and hurried down the stairs.
“Piper!” I heard him yell after me, but I was out of the door before he could even say my name a second time.
I’m so fucking stupid! Why didn’t I force him to take me back to my dorm last night? I scolded myself as I hurriedly walked up the block.
Because you wanted that man. That’s why, I admitted the moment he urged me into his car, and I felt the bulge in his joggers.
I had been thinking about him taking me down.
I honestly thought he wouldn’t touch me at all, give me those flirty eyes, or give me the time of day.
But when I heard him groan behind me as I walked up the stairs, that was all the confirmation I needed to lay in his bed when he returned from his shower.
Worst mistake.
My decision had me about to square up with his child’s mother because I didn’t even factor in that they were still together. I hated myself for not giving him more pushback and letting my guard down too soon.
As I reached the end of the gate, I realized I didn’t know the address to put in for an Uber. There wasn’t a street sign, and I bypassed the marker where the name of the community was. Luckily, I saw a woman walking her dog and stopped her.
“Good morning,” I greeted.
She smiled at me. “Good morning.”
Good. She’s not a mean person.
“Can you tell me what street I’m on or the name of the community?”
“You’re on Westhaven Drive, and the community’s name is Snowfall Hills.”
“Thank you so much.”
“No problem, dear. Come on, Pebbles.” She walked away as I pulled my phone from my pocket and went to the Lyft app. Before I could even type in the coordinates, Khalil’s Benz truck came to a halt in front of me. He climbed out of the car and headed my way, and I completely ignored his presence.
“Pipe, get in the car, baby.”
“I am not your baby. Your babies’ names are Kiyanne and Nia.”
He tucked his lips then let out a frustrated sigh. “Piper, get in the car, please.”
“I’m good. I’m getting a Lyft.”
“You’re not getting in no Lyft. I don’t know how many times I have to say that shit.”
“Look. You don’t have to look out for me because of what we’ve done. It should have never happened, especially since you did it when you knew you were in a relationship with your child’s mother.”
“I’m not in shit with her. We have not been together since a little before Kiy was born.”
“That’s not what she said.”
“Fuck what she said. She would say anything to make you mad.”
I chuckled. “She can’t make someone mad that has no attachments to you. Like I said, I’m good. You can go to school. I’ll be okay.”
“Piper, if you have anybody pull up on this block, it’s gon’ be an issue.”
I frowned. “And what are you going to do if they do?”
“Fuck around and find out if you want to. Now, to avoid some bullshit happening, I suggest you get in the truck so I can take you back to campus. You ain’t even gotta talk to me. Just let me get you back safely.”
I could feel myself hating him again, which was good for me.
I didn’t want to like him anymore, and I would never let him touch me again.
Begrudgingly, I made my way to the passenger side as he followed.
“Don’t. I can open and close my own door,” I told him. I didn’t need him showing me any chivalry. That shit was dead with him as far as I was concerned.
He raised his palms in mock surrender, then walked around to the driver’s side, got in, and pulled out of the gates. Just thinking about what had occurred this early in the damn morning had me annoyed. I couldn’t wait to call my mama and tell her about this.
It was partially my fault for allowing my thoughts and desires to get ahead of me, but I wouldn’t lie and say I didn’t want it or enjoy every lick, suck, and kiss he provided.
I more than enjoyed it.
To have the star basketball player’s head between my legs, eating me up not once, but twice, was a complete win in my book. I was glad this situation happened before I gave any more thought into whatever the hell this was we were doing.
We were silent the whole drive back to campus. He drove slowly toward my dorm until he finally pulled into the front of the building. I reached for the handle, but he stopped me.
“Can I just talk to you for a second. Please?”
“There’s nothing to talk about really. It’s not like you owe me any explanations.
We barely know each other aside from seeing each other around campus every now and then, and even then, you’ve never paid a lick of attention to me.
So, really, it’s okay. I’m not upset. It just would have been nice if you wouldn’t have done that to me in the bed or home you share with your child’s mother. ”
“Nia does not live with me, and we are not together. I wouldn’t lie to you about that.
I admit that she does want to give us another chance, but I can’t be with someone who abandons their child and isn’t mentally stable.
I ain’t copping pleas here, Piper, but I don’t want this situation to be a problem with us.
She doesn’t even come around often, and I have no clue how the fuck she got in my house. ”
