Epilogue I
Waverly
One Year Later - Late Summer
It’s crazy to think I only have one more year to go before I walk across a stage with a degree.
I couldn’t have done this without the help of so many people: Memphis, Sadie, Neve, the Wrath family, my brothers.
My pregnancy wasn’t smooth and easy like Sadie’s was, lucky bitch!
So, it’s a miracle I kept up and was able to function throughout the school year.
It was also helpful that our little girl didn’t make her grand appearance until after school was over, actually coming into the world the day after my last exam.
And she is such a sweet baby, always happy and even-tempered, unlike Sadie’s hellion, Al.
I would take the morning sickness, the bed rest, and the heartburn if I was sure it would mean Lena slept for longer than a TV commercial.
Not that I don’t love little Almanzo. He is the cutest baby boy ever and already cries to be next to his Uncle Memphis. At least that is what Memphis says when he’s rubbing it in to Boston. In reality, it’s because Uncle Memphis holds him all the time.
Al came one week before Lena did, so poor Sadie had to ask for an extension on her exams. I personally think it’s because Sadie lost it sooner than me and Neve but she’s never verified that for either of us.
Either way, the three of us had bets on whose baby would come first, and let’s just say me and Neve won when we bet that Sadie would be first.
Arms wrap around me, pulling me out of my musings, “How’s my beautiful wife? You’re not overdoing it, are you?”
I return the hug and rest my head back on his shoulder. He worries about me, but I can’t say I don’t love it when he babies me.
“No, not overdoing anything. Just thinking about how lucky I am to have you. How much has changed in just a year.”
“It is crazy, isn’t it? I wouldn’t change a thing.”
I look back and meet his eyes, “Me either.”
Our lips find their way to each other, and we share a kiss that has my tummy doing somersaults and my breath coming in quick pants.
“Guess what day it is, my love?”
I try to think back. It’s hard to even remember what time of day it is. I think it might be…, “Friday. Is it our Friday already?”
He chuckles. The three couples take turns letting the other parents go out once a month and at the end of every month the moms -not mine but Sadie's and Memphis's- watch the babies for us so we can all go do something together with each other. I forgot this Friday was our date night.
“It is indeed. What do you want to do tonight, sweet girl?” He spins me around and wraps me in those corded arms of his. He doesn’t even sound mad that I forgot.
“I hate that I forgot about it. It just kind of snuck up on me this time.”
“No worries, sweetheart. If all you want to do is stay home with your feet in my lap while you doze off watching one of your reality TV shows, that sounds pretty damned amazing to me.”
“Are you sure that’s going to be alright?”
“Are you fucking kidding me? I’ll order us some food; you go ahead and go up to get ready for snuggles.”
He kisses me and I run up the stairs to hop in the shower real fast. Just because we’re staying in doesn’t mean we can’t have a good time.
By the time I come back down, he is at the door grabbing the food for us. I wait patiently for him to turn around and notice me. When he does…I’m not disappointed. The look on his face is exactly what I wanted.
“Did… you weren’t there when the delivery guy was at the door, were you? I don’t want to have to kill that kid but…”
“I made sure the door was closed before I came down.” I finish walking the rest of the way down the stairs.
He sets the bags down and meets me at the bottom. His eyes rake over me with a heat that takes my breath. “I thought you wanted to cuddle.”
I can’t stop the laugh that bubbles up inside me. His hand trails over the see-through lace that cups my breasts before going to the bottom of the teddy where the silk only comes to the top of my thighs.
“Wearing this…we’re going to do a whole lot more than cuddle, baby girl.”
I wrap my hand in his shirt and pull him close. “Really, big guy? And what else do you have in mind?”
“Oh, baby!” He picks me up and throws me over his shoulder before taking the stairs two at a time, the food forgotten for the moment.
He doesn’t throw me on the bed like he normally would. He’s been super gentle with me ever since I had Lena. Tonight, I’m going to make sure he knows he can be a little rougher.
“Sweetheart,” he looks at me with such happiness in his eyes, “how about tonight we play a game?”
His brow cocks up and his smile gets bigger.
“Why don’t you pretend to be the big strong cop for me, and I can be a bad girl who needs to be interrogated…repeatedly.”
I slip my hand under the pillow and bring out the cuffs, so they dangle off my finger.
“Oh, and baby, it’s been hours since I fed my baby, so you’ll have to take care of my little problem for me.”
“The pretend you has a baby too?”
I give him a slow nod.
“Probably from the last time you interrogated me since you’re the only cop that can make me talk.”
Even thinking about where his mouth is going in just a few minutes has my nipples throbbing and my pussy aching. Wet spots appear on the lace and draw his eyes down to my breasts spilling out over the top.
“Oh…you naughty, naughty criminal!”
He dives on me, causing me to laugh out loud, only for it to end on a moan as his mouth finds me through the lace. He has the cuffs on me before I realize he’s even moved.
“It’s going to be one of the best nights, baby girl.” He curls his mouth around a hard peak before whispering around it, “I promise.”
And my man never breaks a promise!
