6. Koi Adora Morgan
The next day . . .
After spending my entire day at clinicals, I finally had some time to check my phone. The ER was flooded with patients, and I barely had time to register my left from my right. Plopping down in an empty seat in the employee’s lounge, I pulled my phone from my chocolate Curve bag.
The screen lit up before I could even click on it, due to a new notification.
My eyes bulged, seeing that it was just one of many I’d gotten in the last few hours.
The notifications were split between Instagram and the group chat I had with my cousins.
I went to the IG notifications first. My heart raced when I found the source of everything.
Han’some had posted a carousel of pictures of us over the years.
With a slow exhale, I swiped through them in shock of how intimate we looked, even though I knew they were just shots from us working.
There were even some off-guard photos of me that I never knew he took.
The last photo was the selfie we’d taken last night after he’d asked me to marry him.
I didn’t expect him to make things public so soon, but butterflies tickled my stomach lining when I read the caption.
@yousohansome: I guess I can share you with the world now because you’re officially mine
The post had nearly a million likes and over a hundred thousand comments.
A goofy smile appeared on my face as I debated on what to say or even do.
I felt like a teenager as warmth flooded my entire body, and giddiness burst from my gut.
I did a little dance, feeling more on board with this than I had when I woke up this morning.
Going into the group chat with my cousins, I read their messages, and it filled me with laughter.
Marni:
Um… do you have something to tell us?

I tucked my bottom lip, debating on how to respond. I couldn’t tell my cousins the real reason this became a thing. As far as the world would know, we were engaged because we were in love and ready to spend our lives together. Returning to his post, I decided to leave a comment.
@KoiMorganCo: #ForeverValentine
After taking a screenshot, I went back to the group chat and dropped the picture in there.
Me:
You hoes are invited to the courthouse
Filled with glee and excitement, I was ready to see Han’some.
We hadn’t talked today because of how busy I was, but now I had the time.
I needed to see his face and then discuss what our next steps looked like.
I was in contact with Galaxy’s manager, and they were ready for me to begin working with her. I couldn’t put it off for much longer.
After grabbing my things, I headed to my silver Audi A6.
Once I was buckled in, I made my way to Han’some’s condo downtown.
The breeze was comforting, so I let the windows down while I drove.
Dancing along to the music playing from my speakers, I vibed out all the way to my destination.
By the time I arrived, I was anxious to see him.
I was quick about parking and heading to his private elevator.
I continuously shifted my weight between both of my feet on the entire ride up to his floor.
I paused, hearing the thump of music long before the doors slid open.
My mouth fell open seeing money floating through the air.
There were men all over the living room, along with big-booty strippers making their asses clap to the music.
I folded my arms over my chest as I stepped off the elevator in search of Han’some.
Was this what he called having respect? He’d just made this grand announcement on his social media about our engagement, just to be in here falling victim to his flesh.
I was furious as I stomped toward him while he tossed money in the air with the biggest grin on his face.
“Han’some!” I yelled to get his attention.
His eyes bulged out of his head when he saw me. He looked so fucking guilty that all I could do was fold my arms in disappointment and march toward his balcony. He was right on my heels, closing the door to silence some of the noise from inside.
“Hey, beautiful,” he greeted me while trying to close the space between us for a hug.
I held up my hand, stopping him right in his tracks. “Don’t hey, beautiful me. Are you serious right now?” I snapped in a venomous voice.
He looked confused as he looked from me to the party happening a few feet away. “What? What’s wrong with you?”
I tossed my hands up in the air, feeling so foolish for believing he would change so quickly.
“What’s wrong with me?” I had to face the city below so the wind could wipe away my tears.
“Will you ever fucking grow up, Han’some?
If I was Fontana, I would keep Nyari away from you too.
Is this what you call doing what it takes to get custody of her?
Like, if you seriously think this is what our marriage is going to be like, then you can just take this fucking ring back right now. ”
I slid the huge rock off my finger and launched it at his face. He barely had enough time to catch it. He tried to reach for me when I went marching past him, but I managed to slip from his grasp. “Just leave me alone. Do whatever you want to do, like you been doing. I don’t care anymore.”
I ignored him calling my name from behind me. I was on the verge of crying, and I refused to let him see it. I hated how short-lived this engagement was, but I wouldn’t be his fool just to accept a job opportunity.
