Chapter Nine #2

He seems genuine—his actions speak louder than any words.

As I look at him, I consider everything he has shown me, all the little ways he shows he cares.

The way he waited silently at the cemetery, not pushing me for information, that shows me that he wants to give me the time I need to open up to him.

Do I need more time though? I’m certainly not ready to tell him all about Dylan or my dad. I don’t need to see the sympathetic look in his eyes. But I could be ready to give him a chance, to give us a chance.

As much as I don’t want to admit it, he’s already cracked his way through my defences, seeped into my bloodstream.

I can’t get him out of my head. When I’m with him, I feel comfortable; I feel safe and I feel like I’m at home, where I’m meant to be.

All of these feelings scare the shit out of me and make me want to run a mile.

I consider what my dad said to me, how he encouraged me to give love a shot.

Maybe it won’t end in tragedy. Maybe even if it does, the time we have together now will make it worth it.

At least that’s what my mum tells me. The years she had with my dad were the best of her life, and the years she will continue to have with him when he gets out of jail will continue to be her best years.

Taking a deep breath in, I quickly confess before I lose my bravery, “Okay, maybe I like you a little bit.” The biggest smile spreads across his face.

“But, I don’t know how this can work. I work for your brother, Bray. I don’t want to lose my job when you decide that I’m not good enough for you. I also don’t want to make it awkward for Alyssa and Zac when we don’t work out.” I tell him all of my fears and reasons we should not be together.

“First, Zac would not fire you because of me. Trust me, he does not make emotional decisions relating to the club. Well, at least he didn’t before he met Alyssa.

Secondly, you’re not good enough for me?

You’re too damn good for the likes of me and you can most certainly do better, but I don’t care.

I’m selfish and I’m keeping you anyway.” He gives me a look, daring me to challenge him on that.

This is happening all too fast; I don’t know how to handle this.

I want to take my dad’s advice and give this thing a shot.

I’m just not sure I’m prepared for the potential loss or hurt that will come from this fusion as Bray calls it.

Then I come up with an idea, a trial before you buy kind of thing.

“Maybe we can give this a go and see what happens with us, but it has to stay between us. I don’t want any of our friends or family knowing that we are dating yet.”

“You want to sneak around like kids—maybe play seven minutes in heaven too?”

“Well, I can always go back to pretending you don’t exist?” I tease, like that would ever be possible.

“Harsh, babe! I didn’t say I didn’t want to sneak around with you. If that’s what you want to do, then that’s what we’ll do. For now.” He looks over and smiles at me. “Besides, from what I remember, seven minutes in heaven was a fun game.”

“Don’t insult junior. You and I both know he’s going to need more than seven minutes.” Wait, why on earth am I referring to his dick as junior too? I swear this man is rubbing off on me too much.

Bray was super quick to shower and get ready.

I made sure to stay out in his living room while he was in the shower, otherwise we would probably still be in there.

Looking down at my phone, I wonder if we have time to shower together at my house, because the idea of showering with Bray—with his wet and nakedness all on display for me to touch and lick—yeah, that is very appealing.

We pull into my driveway and I groan. Can anything go my way today?

“What’s wrong?” Bray asks.

“Okay, listen. I know Holly and I are way too old to be living at home with our mum, but we do, so you just have to deal with that.”

He laughs, like full-on belly laughs at me.

“It’s not funny, Bray. You haven’t met my mum.

I thought she’d still be at work, but apparently the universe hates me today and she’s home.

If you want to wait here in the car, I understand.

You do not have to come inside and endure the craziness that is my family. ”

“Babe, if your mum is anywhere near as feisty as you or as sweet as Holly, I will love her. Besides, women love me! I’ve never had an issue getting one not to.” He winks.

Cocky fucking bastard. Well, let’s just see how much he loves the attention of Lynne Reynolds, aka my mother. She has not had a male to fuss over in a very long time. Holly and I never bring dates home, so the fact that Bray is here now is a bigger deal than he knows.

“Okay, but don’t say I didn’t warn you,” I tell him as I get out of the car.

I’m just around the hood of the car when I’m met with a sour-faced Bray. “What on earth crawled up your ass in the last five seconds to create that look?” I ask him. I swear the guy is more hormonal than a nine-month pregnant chick.

“You didn’t wait for me to open your door.” He pouts, like full on bottom lip out pouts. It’s so freaking cute it’s ridiculous.

“Get used to it, baby. I’m not waiting around for doors to be opened for me. I open them myself. I’m a grown-ass woman like that,” I declare as I march towards the house. I need to set him straight from the get-go. I am not a wilting flower who will let his alpha ass come and control everything.

Before I can open the front door, Bray reaches out and grabs me around my waist. He spins me and has my back pinned against the door so fast I lose my balance.

The only thing holding me upright is the grip of Bray’s arms around my waist. The next second, his lips are on mine, his tongue swiping the seams while seeking entrance.

Entrance that I greedily grant him. I moan into his mouth, electric shocks raging a war through my body. I need more than just this kiss; I need it all. Grabbing onto his neck, I jump, wrapping my legs around his waist. His hands move to my butt, caressing as he pushes me into the door harder.

Now, this is what I need. I grind my core onto him. I can feel his cock, hard and ready to play. I recall just how good at play it was too.

“You have no idea how much I fucking like you,” Bray whispers in my ear as he kisses his way down my neck.

“Everything about you is fucking perfect, Reilly. I love that you’re strong and independent, loyal and feisty as fuck.

” He continues kissing and nipping at my ear, while I continue to dry hump him like a dog in heat.

“But, no matter how capable you are, I will always open doors for you, Reilly. Not because you can’t do it, because I know you can do fucking anything.

I’ll open them because I want to, because you deserve to be treated like the queen you are and I’d be a pretty shitty boyfriend if I failed at doing that. ”

More kisses, then he bites down hard on my neck. “Ahh, God. That. Yes. Keep doing that,” I demand. I’m so close to coming, my core is grinding onto him, and my lace panties are soaked through. Oh God, I’m probably leaving wet marks all over the front of his jeans. I don’t care right now though.

Bray chuckles as he continues his torture to my body. “You know, you’re the best girlfriend I’ve ever had, Reilly,” he declares.

“I’m the only girlfriend you’ve ever had, idiot.”

“Yeah, but you’re still the best,” he says as his lips return to mine. I need to move this party inside, preferably to my bed, or shower—either one is fine with me.

Oh God, this kiss is something else. I feel the wall behind me fall away, and the next minute, I’m floating. Bray pulls back, and his hold around my back tightens as he clears his throat.

“Arghh, why’d you stop?” I am not impressed with the change of events.

“Ahh, that’d probably be for my benefit, Reilly Lili.”

Oh shit, my eyes widen at Bray. I’ve just been caught making out at the front door like a teenager by my mum. “Shit, fuck, shit,” I curse my luck as I untangle myself from Bray and get my feet back on the ground.
