Chapter 24
Lila
When Saxon returned from visiting his clan, he was in a foul mood.
While Hale and Velorina were happy for the dissolution, Estrella and Radella are fighting it with everything they have.
I distracted him momentarily by feeding him and rocking his world with my mad sex skills, but as we lie in bed together later, I can tell it’s still bothering him.
He’s distracted, and while I find his fingers running through my hair comforting, I can tell when he thinks of something that makes him angry, because his fist tightens and he pulls hard. I don’t even think he’s noticed he’s doing it.
“You know, I was so lost in the moment during our bonding that I didn’t notice your cock is literally like a rabbit vibrator,” I comment conversationally, trying to distract him from his turmoil.
“All those ridges and bumps were fucking amazing, but then it started to vibrate too, and, well, I scored the husband jackpot.” I’m desperately trying to lighten the mood, but I don’t think he’s even hearing me.
A wave of anger rushes over me. Those petty fucking bitches better not run into me in the hallways, because I will tell them what I really think of them.
Sighing heavily, I swing my legs over the bed and stand up, making my way to the bathroom.
He doesn’t even say a word, he’s so caught up in his own thoughts.
I wasn’t kidding about his cock. He fucking made me see stars, and I’m a bit wobbly on my feet. He drank deeply too, so I’m feeling a little light-headed. When I feel something slide down the inside of my leg, I look down and scream.
Thick, red fluid coats my legs. Oh my god, I’m having a miscarriage. My babies. I feel a breeze, and Saxon appears in front of me, grabbing me.
“What’s wrong, my blood rose?” He looks around the bathroom, on high alert.
I throw myself into his arms and sob. “I’m losing my babies. Call Link or take me to the clinic quickly.”
“What? No! We didn’t do anything that should cause a miscarriage,” he argues, and I point at the mess between my legs.
“Yes, there’s no denying it.”
He gently pushes me backwards and looks down, and then he starts to chuckle.
“What are you laughing at, you insensitive asshole?” I scream at him, smacking his solid chest.
“Oh, my sweet blood rose. That is the color of my cum. That’s what’s making the mess on your legs.” I stop smacking him and look down again. “You didn’t notice during our bonding because we were so caught up in it and everything was covered in blood, so it didn’t stand out.”
“Really?” I gasp, and my heart rate settles as I drag in a shuddering breath. “I’m not losing the babies?”
“No, my darling, you’re not. Well, I mean, unless you count all the potential ones,” he jokes and presses a kiss to the top of my head. “I’m sorry you were so scared.”
“I really was. I didn’t realize how much I wanted them until there was a possibility they would be gone.” We stand there with his arms wrapped around me as I get myself together again.
“Why don’t you wash off? You will feel better after that,” he suggests, pulling away and leading me to the pool.
He holds my hand and helps me down the steps.
I hiss when the steaming hot water hits my body, but soon enough, it’s easing all the aches, and I sigh with contentment.
Saxon doesn’t follow me in, he just blows me a kiss and returns to our bedroom.
I spend ten minutes floating, letting my own thoughts drift as my body does the same thing in the pool, before I quickly wash myself.
Getting out, I grab a big, soft, fluffy towel off the heating shelf and use it to dry my body.
When I’m done, I wrap it around myself and head back out to my room and my large wardrobe.
Saxon is nowhere to be seen, and I feel a little put out about that.
He could have at least told me he was leaving.
I guess his drama with his clan is worse than I thought.
He doesn’t seem like he would usually be so thoughtless about my feelings.
Although it’s nighttime, I’m restless, so I decide that maybe getting out of my room and taking a walk around the ship wouldn’t be a bad thing.
I’ve seen a few places, like the restaurant Link took me to for dinner and the cafe where I had drinks and coffee with Magenta, as well as a couple of other things, but there is so much more to explore.
I also still haven’t seen Caspian this evening.
He hadn’t returned when I took Saxon back to my room.
I don’t feel comfortable going to sleep for the night without seeing my mate, so I grab a pair of skinny jeans, a cute top that displays the girls to perfection, and a pair of ankle boots.
Dressing quickly, I do my hair and makeup and head out to the living area.
I stop and look around the empty room. No one is in sight. Huh, where could everyone have gone?
Suddenly, my watch beeps, and I look down at it and smile. My thoughtful cyborg has sent me a message telling me he returned to the clinic to watch over John for the evening. Well, at least that is one wayward future husband accounted for, but what about the other three?
I poke my head into Saxon’s bedroom, but it’s empty.
Next, I check Xavier’s bedroom, and I find my warlock curled up on his bed, fast asleep.
He’s lying spread eagle on his front, and the covers are at the bottom of his bed.
I want to sink my teeth into his naked ass.
He asked before I dragged Saxon off to my bedroom if he could feed from our emotions, which we were both more than willing to allow him to do.
I’m almost certain we fed him as full as a tick and this is him sleeping it off.
I’m tempted to wake him, but I have a feeling he doesn’t often feel this full or sleep this soundly, so I make the decision to leave him be.
I’ll leave him a note in the kitchen telling him where I have gotten off to.
I creep in and pull the covers up over his naked body.
He must have kicked them off in his sleep.
He doesn’t move a muscle, which shows me how truly exhausted he must have been.
Since I’ve known him, he has constantly been on full alert.
I’m just glad he feels comfortable enough here in our rooms to really relax.
I push his hair back from his cheek and press a kiss to it before leaving him be. I turn off the light and pull the door shut on the way out.
One more future husband accounted for. Now I just need to track down my two actual husbands.
Grabbing my access card and slipping it into my back pocket, I leave our rooms. I make sure I set the locks to keep Xavier safe before I leave and send a message to Link, telling him what I’m doing.
“Okay, be careful and have fun,” he replies.
As I walk toward the elevator, I use my watch to locate Saxon.
He’s in the Vilaxian clan’s quarters. I guess he went back to try and negotiate the dissolution further.
He didn’t tell me much, but he said if a clan cannot agree on terms of a dissolution, then it needs to go before a committee headed by the queen.
I think what frustrates him the most is that a member of a clan finding a blood rose is usually accepted as an automatic dissolution of that sanguinista’s membership to the clan, but the two girls refuse to acknowledge that I am Saxon’s blood rose.
They believe that being a non-Vilaxian is cause for me to be denied bonding.
Too late, because it’s already happened.
I said that to him, and he grimaced, then he told me they have ways of breaking blood rose bondings.
Usually it’s only used when one is a criminal sentenced to death to save the innocent partner.
I’m not feeling really reassured about that. I understand that it’s preoccupying his mind, but it would have been nice if he’d at least given me a kiss goodbye.
Okay, three down, one to go. “Find Caspian,” I instruct my watch.
The little Galaxy Circus emblem flashes while it searches for him before a map pops up on the screen.
It shows Caspian at Orion’s Belt. Huh, I wonder what that is.
I press a couple of buttons and bring up a glossary.
Oh, it’s a bar. Why would Caspian be at a bar?
I thought he was going to speak to the lightning cats and check in on his friend, Silac, and the other new shifter, Tirrian.
Well, I guess I was looking for something to do, and I haven’t been to that one yet, so I press the right level on the elevator and wait while it starts moving.
It’s on the level below the one with the restaurant and club I went to with Link. It doesn’t give much information, just says it’s a good place to grab some food and drinks with friends and maybe catch a show, so maybe it’s a cabaret lounge. Okay, I like a good performance.
When I arrive on that level and step out into the walkway, I can hear the noise of a crowd of people.
Smiling in anticipation, I walk in the direction of the sound, looking forward to grabbing a drink and some food with my mate.
I hear a pulsing beat, and I start to sway my hips in time with the rhythm as I walk.
Sweet, maybe we can get our dance on too.
Link was such a great dancer, and I bet Caspian is as well.
When I arrive at the entry to the establishment, there is a couple standing outside, making out like crazy.
Neither of them is wearing many clothes.
Looking around, I wonder if I should suggest they take what they are obviously moving toward somewhere private, but cheering, whistling, and clapping from inside draws my attention.
Leaving them to it, I enter Orion’s Belt, but the act must have left the stage, because it’s empty.
Pouting at missing out on what must have been a good show, I look around the room, trying to find Caspian amongst the crowd.
