Chapter 18 #2
Xavier chuckles. “I’ll be okay. We are meeting our contact in the local gem and trading market, so there will be plenty for me to feed from there. I’m hoping we can find a moment to mimic one of the natives here too, so you can make use of their tolerance to the heat while we are here.”
“Okay, but let me know if you have needs. Even a quick blow job will at least be a snack.” I mean, it’s no hardship to take one for the team. Xavier is delicious, and I would happily suck his dick any day of the week.
“Of course, my phoeall, and let me know if you need blood. I know you just drank the last bag. While we are at the markets, I will make inquiries about getting us some more. I will not be able to sustain you and stay healthy with the amount you are drinking now.”
“I will. When I called home last night to speak to everyone, I asked Saxon and Link to continue bagging his for me. He has an overabundance without me there to feed from him, and like you said, I’m drinking more than normal with my new abilities. It’s not going to hurt to have extra bags at home.”
Xavier presses a kiss to my forehead. “Good thinking. Come on, methinks the dragon grows impatient.”
I snort. “When is he not?”
We make our way down the stairs, and Tirrian turns and leads us forward.
The spaceport isn’t all that crowded. To be honest, apart from us and a few staff, there aren’t many people around.
One person came over and checked our landing permission when we first arrived, but Silac and Tirrian dealt with that.
They say that you need special permission to land on Rilu, and it is hard to obtain.
“Have you been to Rilu before?” I call to him since he seems to know where he is going. “William and Eric thought that maybe Xavier wouldn’t be allowed in the market, and that they are wary of strangers.”
“Yes, the dragons trade with the Rilunese regularly,” he says gruffly without turning around, and Silac turns and smiles.
“Dragons have hoards, and shiny pretty gems are a prized possession. The trade between them is abundant. Prince Tirrian is a favorite here on Rilu, and anyone with him will be welcomed with open arms.”
“Ah, I’m finally seeing the logic behind bringing the asshole now,” Xavier mutters in my ear as Tirrian waves down a futuristic-looking vehicle.
“Are they going to recognize him in his glamour?” I ask, and Silac nods.
“Yes, he assumes this glamour when he attends the market. Although they welcome him with open arms, his half form is a little intimidating, and they negotiate better when they are not terrified,” Silac says with a smile on his face, and I look at the dragon with new eyes.
“I would have thought them being terrified would be an advantage.” My curiosity is well and truly piqued.
“Dragons are honorable. There is nothing honorable in scaring someone to get a better outcome unless they are the enemy. These people are our friends, and keeping them happy is a priority.”
A shiny car pulls up along the sidewalk we are walking down.
Out jumps a dark-skinned man, who hurries around and bows to the dragon prince.
He’s wearing an outfit very similar to all three guys, with loose, billowy pants and a tunic.
His eyes are quite shocking. They are the palest blue, with only a very small black iris.
His hair is black with stripes of different gem-like colors.
I remember one of the guys telling me that’s what happens when you bond with a larnuk.
He must have a huge herd of them with the amount of stripes he has.
There’s hardly any black left, and it’s the same with his short, neatly trimmed beard.
“Prince Tirrian. I was just alerted that you arrived unannounced and hurried over here to transport you wherever you need to go.” His accent is thick but easily understandable.
If I had to compare it to something, I would say he sounds Middle Eastern.
My translator is the best thing I could have ever been given, otherwise I would be screwed.
It must be a galaxy wide thing, because no one has had any trouble understanding me yet.
Tirrian bows back, a huge smile breaking out across his face, before the men exchange one of those manly back slapping hugs, and I just stare in shock.
Holy fuck, he’s hot when he smiles. I mean, the surly aggressive man is sexy too, but wow.
Xavier chuckles quietly beside me, obviously feeling my shock, and I nudge him with my elbow to shut him up.
“Chief Zana, it is wonderful to see you. This is Lila Adams, the Adams brothers’ granddaughter and heir to the Galaxy Circus.
She is here with the blessings of the Celestians to harvest the flamegem when it blooms. This is Prince Xavier Colest and Silac, the nagajara.
” He calls Silac something I don’t know the meaning of, which makes me desperate to know.
Xavier gives me a shove forward, and I glare at him but smile for the man.
“Lila, this is Chief Zana, he is the head chief of all of Rilu. I guess you could compare him to the president. His clan has been guarding the flamegem for all these years for the Celestians. Only him and a select few know of its whereabouts and what it can actually do.”
Tirrian and Silac were both read into the mission when they were asked to escort me.
I was confused about why we shared the information with Tirrian’s father, since I think the more people who know means it’s no longer a secret, but apparently he already knew about the flower, which made him an ally.
I guess this is why. There is obviously a close relationship between the dragon clan and the leadership of Rilu, and I would be stupid to reject that kind of assistance due to not liking my escort.
“Sir, it is lovely to meet you. My grandpas sung your praises before we left and send their regards. They apologize that they can’t be here themselves, but their worry for their brother kept them by his side.” See? I can be polite and gracious and all formal as well.
He reaches for my hands and looks me up and down.
“You are the spitting image of your gorgeous mother. I am sorry to hear about John, and I am thankful we can help in this small way. Come, I will take you to the market where your escort has agreed to meet you. I would have taken you myself, but unfortunately the spring equinox is also the time of the annual gem fair in Galliethain, and we have buyers coming in from all over the country in the next few days.” He gestures for us to hop into his shiny silver vehicle.
Tirrian offers me the passenger seat, but I shake my head.
“No, you take it. You’re a lot bigger than I am, and I’m not sure all three of you would fit in the back.
Xavier won’t mind if I drape myself over him.
” His eyebrows jump in surprise, and he nods his thanks before opening the back door for me.
I return the nod of gratitude and slide in.
Silac, having gone around to the other side, sits to my right, and Xavier is on my left.
Once we are all seated, Chief Zana begins to drive.
