Chapter 28 #2
“I guess it’s back to the library for you, Link. Why don’t you ask Corethea if you can access the royal library here? They would have an extensive species and race archive,” I suggest, and Link’s eyes light up adorably. He’s such a nerd, but it’s sexy.
Xavier is thoughtful. “They just need to have angry sex and get it out of their systems, but Tirrian is determined not to mate with Lila. I don’t know what his prejudice is.
It can’t be the fact that she got Dylan kicked out of the circus, especially because he saw firsthand what a degenerate he is. ”
He told us all about their time on X69, and I cannot believe that they saw Dylan, or that she secretly mimicked a Madovian, but that is a problem for another day.
“I think he’s scared,” Link says quietly.
“Scared to give himself over so completely to someone he barely even knows. It is overwhelming for many people. Statistics say it’s one of the biggest fears that races with fated mates suffer, that the person fate has chosen for them will not be compatible, won’t love them, and won’t be interested in them sexually amongst other things. ”
“And because of the fear, he keeps any possible mate at arm’s length, even the one that he knows would be perfect for him,” I finish, and Link nods.
“You know, you might be onto something.” Xavier rubs his chin thoughtfully.
“We might have to play matchmaker, but let’s put that on the back burner for now.
They will be done in the shower soon, and none of us are ready.
You still haven’t gone and got the flower. I’ll teleport you to the other ship.”
“And I will go and wake our babies. They will be beyond excited to see their mother and Daddy X, and they are dying to meet Grandpa John,” I tell Xavier, who smiles, and his hands start to clench and release, like he’s dying to get them on our babies.
“Okay, we will hurry, because I missed the little buggers. I need my kraken kisses.”
“Well, tag, you are it for the next twenty-four hours then,” Link tells him. “The five of us are in desperate need of some real sleep, even Saxon and I who don’t need all that much.”
“It will be my pleasure. I have to teach them how to play tricks on Grandma and Grandpa Warlock because Lila said we will go to Westalin as soon as we are done here.” Xavier is practically giddy with excitement. He’s been so patient, it would be cruel to make him wait any longer.
“Alright, so meet back here in twenty minutes then?” I suggest, and the other two agree.
Xavier stands up, wobbling slightly, but he steadies himself before allowing his mist to seep out and around Link.
They disappear in a flash of light, and I hurry in the direction of the babies’ room.
All three of their beds are in one large room, which already has two more cribs ready for Echo’s babies when they come.
There is a huge playroom attached to the sleeping area stocked full of toys and books and educational things to keep five rambunctious children occupied for ages, and it will allow for more if our family expands in the future, which I’m sure it will.
When they get big enough and need their own rooms, there is still plenty of space on this level for it.
That’s why the grandpas and the captain moved down a level.
Our family will be huge, and we need a lot of space.
I also don’t see us settling down on one planet anytime soon.
Lila will eventually be in charge of the whole circus, and we will need to go where she does, so we are prepared for this now.
The nursery is quiet when I enter it, with only the gentle sound of the rolling ocean waves echoing out of speakers.
Despite being put in their own beds, I find all three of them snuggled together in Calypso’s bed.
Jack and Cordy have worked out that if they change into their kraken forms, they can climb out of their cribs and into hers.
I considered putting lids on them, but that just seemed cruel.
I’m sure, like all siblings, they’ll end up wanting their own space eventually, but for now, if they want to sleep together, why not let them?
A hand on my back has me spinning in surprise, but it’s just Lila. Her hair is wet, and she smells like Saxon, but she looks better than she did when she first appeared. Just like Xavier, I think she was at her limit, but she seems to have recovered nicely.
I wrap an arm around her, and she leans her head against my chest as we look down at our sleeping children. “They are angels, aren’t they?” She sighs with contentment.
“Yeah, while they are asleep, but I swear they are the warlock’s kids when they are awake. Are you sure he didn’t do something to you while you were pregnant? Because they are mischievous and sneaky,” I joke, knowing full well what me and my own clutch mates were like as children.
“No, baby, that is all me and you there.” I can hear how proud she is, and I puff up my chest, feeling much the same way.
“You know we could always go again,” I say casually, my beast pushing against me, and she lifts her head and glares.
“Tell your beast that if he values his ovipositor, I better not see it anytime soon,” she growls, and he quickly sinks down again.
Now that Lila has her own kraken form, our mating dance is going to go a lot differently.
I would say that getting her pregnant is not going to be as fun next time, but I’m sure he will keep trying.
“Mama?” Jack peers up at her, his eyes cloudy with sleep, but then a small smile spreads across his lips as he fully wakes.
“Mama!” This time he shouts it, which wakes his two sisters.
They don’t appreciate being woken so abruptly, and both burst into tears while he scrambles up and holds his hands out for Lila.
She lifts him and cuddles him close, sniffing deeply.
“God, they smell good. I never knew I had the capacity to love someone as much as I love these three. The only person I ever really loved before was Susie.” Lila’s eyes are cloudy with sadness, and I hate seeing it there, but it soon clears when Cordy and Calypso hear their mom’s voice, and the tears dry up as they hold their hands up for cuddles too.
Lila passes me Jack and reaches down for both girls.
We’ve become quite proficient at holding and cuddling multiple children at once.
“I’m sure once you get your memories back, you will realize you have loved way more than just Susie. Now how about we get these three dressed and ready to go down to Celestia? I bet you even have time for a quick visit with Susie. I’m sure she’d love to meet her nieces and nephew.”
That chases away the rest of her sadness, and she hurries to find the girls cute outfits to wear. I never want to see that look in her eyes again, and I’m going to do my best to see that I don’t.
