Chapter 3

CHAPTER THREE

Lila

After a very satisfying orgy, I can now officially tick it off my bucket list—not that I’m ever going to turn one down, that’s for sure.

Xavier is full to the brim and bursting with energy.

He hurries back to the bridge so he can keep an eye on the Aquilian ships.

Cas takes a nap, exhausted from swimming with the kids before our impromptu orgy, and Link decides to do some research on halla fruit harvesters and see how they can do their job without perishing on the planet.

We need every possible bit of information we can get our hands on.

He said he has an acquaintance, a doctor, who is in contact with one of the harvesting teams, because they procure a certain plant for him while they are on the planet that he uses in an herbal pain relief tea he brews for patients who are oversensitive to other medical means.

He’s going to see if he can facilitate a meeting for him so he can get firsthand knowledge.

While all of them do that, I grab my Vilaxian husband and pull him to his bedroom.

“Are you still hungry, my beautiful blood rose?” Saxon asks, putting his hands on his shirt to strip it off, and I’m momentarily distracted. Sure, I just had a number of mind-blowing orgasms, but I am a red-blooded female, and Saxon is gorgeously distracting.

“Ah, no. Well, I mean, I wouldn’t say no to more sex, but first could you make a call and introduce me to Xavier’s parents?”

He pulls his shirt back on and frowns, leaning against his desk. “Why?”

I sigh. “Because he has waited so long for me to get my memories back, and now we have another detour. I’m hoping that maybe his parents will meet us at Aquilia instead of us having to spend all that time traveling first there and then to Westalin.

This way, we would also have a show of force behind us with the warlock royal family, which will make King Marlin think twice about how they treat me for some supposed slight, and Xavier and I can finally establish our intimate bond. ”

A smile slowly stretches across his lips, and his eyes sparkle with love. “You are amazing, did you know that?” he tells me, and I shrug.

“I don’t know. With so many mates, I worry that some of you will feel neglected and miss out, and my mimic powers are pushing me to add more. When is it going to stop?”

He shakes his head and walks over to me, pulling me into his arms. “No, baby, you are doing everything right. We are adults and can speak up if we ever feel neglected, but so far, you are doing a fine job balancing us and parenthood, so I’m sure you will have no problems no matter how many mates you add. ”

“From your mouth to God’s ears,” I mutter as I lean into him, absorbing all the strength he’s giving me. “What I wouldn’t give for a few days on a tropical beach with just my mates, the kids, a few cocktails with fruit and umbrellas in them, and the sun shining down on me while I get a tan.”

“One day we will do that, even if Xavier has to conjure up something for me and the cats so we don’t burn.”

I feel a pang of guilt as I remember that some of my mates aren’t so temperature compatible.

“Ugh, sorry, I forgot. See? I’m so self-involved, I forgot that you guys can’t do that.

” I pull away and start pacing back and forth.

“I need a checklist to remind me of everything. How is that being a good mate?”

“Lila, stop it. Seriously, for the amount of time you’ve had to adjust to all of this, you are doing wonderfully. A lot of people would be in the corner, rocking and drooling,” Saxon scolds.

“How do you know I’m not when you aren’t looking?” I retort, and he chuckles.

“Because that’s just not you. Sure, you mess things up, but you try to learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward. That’s all you can do. Look at how well you dealt with knowing we’re going to have more babies.”

“Ha!” I exclaim. “Sure, on the outside I was the picture of poise, but inside, I was screaming,” I tell him, and he shakes his head.

“You were not. You are just as thrilled as those two cats, but you’ve been programmed to want to be upset.

Thankfully, you are letting go of most of your preconceived Earth ideals.

Look, I get it, it’s a lot, but just stop, take a moment, and breathe deeply every time you feel overwhelmed, or change and go for a swim.

I know you like the bottom of the pool. We have one of our own now, and no one can bother you down there. ”

“Except three gorgeous yet exhausting kraken babies,” I point out, and he shrugs sheepishly.

“Not if we do our jobs right. Now stop worrying. Let’s deal with one thing at a time.

We are solving Xavier’s needs, and then we can talk about the can of tuna.

” He turns away from me to open up his communication screen, but not before I notice him grimace when he mentions the can of tuna.

He isn’t the only mate who has had this reaction. What the fuck aren’t they telling me?

Before I can ask him, though, the screen activates, and we don’t have to wait long until it’s answered.

“Yes?” A warlock with pale blue skin and no visible silver marks answers the call. He doesn’t look a thing like Xavier, so I’m going to assume this isn’t his father.

“General Saxon of Vilax and Lila Adams for King Cronus and Queen Xylene.” Gone is my warm, snuggly blood bunny, and in his place is a rip your heart out, rabid rabbit—or the imperial General of the Vilaxian army, nephew to the Vilaxian queen.

“I’m sorry, but the king and queen are unavailable without an appointment.

” This warlock is basically looking down his nose at Saxon, and I feel the urge to reach into the screen and rip his heart out.

My teeth click into place, and I step forward so he can see me.

I consider assuming my warlock form, but we’re trying to keep the extent of my powers under wraps.

Only the people on the ship know how many beings I’ve mimicked so far, and we kind of want to keep it that way.

“Tell them that their son’s intimate would like a word with them regarding our bonding please.” I don’t hide the threat in my voice, but the warlock looks at me with undisguised disgust.

“You’re the crown prince’s intimate? Well, that is certainly underwhelming. Maybe he isn’t as powerful as everyone assumed he was.”

Saxon stiffens, and a low, rumbling growl can be heard in his chest, but I pat his shoulders and smile widely, my fangs on display.

“Oh, I can assure you that underestimating me would be a mistake.” I allow the red to bleed into my eyes, but he still doesn’t seem intimidated.

“They don’t have time for some pretty twat who the prince thinks is his intimate.

He will come to his senses soon and recall his harem when he can’t be at full power just from feeding from you.

I’m sure if you’re lucky, he might keep you around in his harem.

I’ve heard the Vilaxian bite is quite alluring.

Maybe he’ll lend you to me when he gets tired of you.

” He leers at me, and I just gape at him, not believing the crap that’s coming out of his mouth. Who is this man?

Saxon chuckles darkly next to me, and the warlock flinches. He must have forgotten Saxon was here. “You claim they don’t have time for Lila, but I’m sure they have time for me. Please tell them that I am waiting to speak to them.”

He sighs like he is put out, but he must know exactly who Saxon is, because I see him look up from what must be a hand held communication device before he calls across the room, raising his voice.

“Your Majesty, General Saxon of Vilax is on a call. Do you wish to receive it?” Holy crap, they are in the same room.

Maybe Xavier has this all wrong, and they aren’t happy that I’m his intimate.

Maybe it’s all a mistake, and I’m not really his intimate.

Surely they would have overheard that conversation.

I gnaw on my lip with my fangs, feeling it pierce through.

Saxon turns my head to face him, his nostrils flaring.

He leans in and licks my bleeding lip. “Stop worrying, Lila. He’s just a trumped-up asshole who has become too big for his boots.

He will realize what a big mistake he made once Xavier’s parents realize he was gate keeping you from them. ”

The warlock snorts and mutters, “Unlikely,” but in the background, we hear, “Of course I will receive a call from Saxon. What are you doing screening my calls anyway? Give me my communicator,” I hear an abrupt voice say, and the warlock sighs, sounding annoyed.

Hmm, someone is confident in his position.

I wonder if he would be so confident if Xavier was there.

“I put it on the main screen for you, sir,” the warlock says and starts moving, but our screen changes images, and we get a view of a large office area.

There are two desks, and sitting at each desk is a male and female warlock.

The man is deep purple, almost eggplant in color, and the woman is the palest lilac I’ve ever seen, but both of them have many silver swirls and markings.

I can see how Xavier came to be the color he is.

The man looks so much like Xavier it’s scary, but there’s wisdom in his eyes that shows he’s considerably older than my warlock fiancé. They both smile widely at the camera.

“Ah, Saxon, it’s good to see you. How can we help you today?” the man booms joyfully but looks a little quizzically at me.

“I take it you haven’t announced to the general population that Xavier has found his intimate and who it is,” Saxon says a little dryly without any niceties.

The two exchange a confused glance. “No. We were waiting for them to return so we could have a large celebration,” the woman says as the previous warlock joins them, standing between the two desks.
