Chapter 4 #3

“Yeah, no, that isn’t happening, so mind wipe it is. Now where are we going to find one of these bears?” I ask, and they all exchange a glance.

“I’m not sure, to be honest.” John is staring out a window, mostly happy listening to the conversation up until now.

“They have been banned from most of the space stations and planets because of their predilection to steal women. They’ve upset many nations, but there are still some places where they are welcome, and there is always their home planet.

” He turns back to face us. “But you run the risk of being caught there.”

“Yes, we want to catch one on their own, not a whole ship of them, because we don’t need anyone finding out the rumors about Lila are lies.

” Saxon gets up and comes over to where I’m sitting and starts rubbing my shoulders.

I groan and relax into his hands. I’m not sure how he realized I was so tense, but his hands are doing a wonderful job of releasing it.

Another groan leaves my lips, and Tirrian abruptly stands.

“I will make some inquiries on where to find one,” he announces before leaving the conference room.

I blink at his hasty departure, and Link and Xavier exchange knowing glances.

“Maybe it would be better if you released the dragon back to his home planet. It seems cruel to have what his animal so desperately wants dangled in front of him,” Brannock suggests, looking a little uncomfortable, and it suddenly occurs to me that his species is another one that is dying out.

I must be the ultimate temptation for him, but so far, he has shown no interest except mild politeness.

“I tried,” William tells Brannock. “We are not unsympathetic to his feelings. We don’t want to force him to be Lila’s mate either. We only want her to be happy, and he is making her miserable, but he refuses to leave.”

“What about you?” I say quietly. “Is it uncomfortable for you to be around me?” I ask him, and everyone else looks confused, but he knows what I’m saying.

The sympathy in his eyes for Tirrian quickly shutters, and his face becomes blank despite his incredible coloring.

“No, Lila. I made peace with my lot in life many years ago. I enjoyed my time on Earth. I even married once. She died a few years ago, but I came to terms with the fact that the Aaz’axian race will die out soon.”

“You can’t have babies with other races?” I ask him, and a shadow crosses his face. This man is very good at controlling his emotions, but this obviously strikes something inside him.

“Our bodies are not compatible with other races,” he says woodenly. I remember the sharp spikes all over his cock as he stroked it while he watched Xavier and I fuck. Yup, that would tear a female Earthling to shreds.

“So you never had sex with your wife?” Xavier asks bluntly, and I hiss at him.

“Xavier, what the fuck?”

“I could have sex with her, but never to my completion. It’s only when I get close to my peak that the spikes activate.

A female Aaz’axian secretes an enzyme that numbs the female’s inner walls so that the spikes lock in and cause pleasure rather than pain, setting off the female’s orgasm and allowing her to release an egg.

” Brannock’s cheeks sparkle, and I realize he’s blushing as he explains his species’ reproduction to us.

“So you haven’t orgasmed in years?” I ask, now unable to control my curiosity despite how much I’d hate to be questioned like this.

“Only by my own hand,” he admits.

“And your wife never knew?” I feel incredibly sorry for this quiet man. I mean, orgasms are not everything, but they are pretty freaking awesome.

“No, of course not. I told her I had a low sperm count, and we would never be able to conceive a child naturally.” His eyes cloud, and I can see this conversation is making him agitated.

“I’m sorry,” I say, unable to stop myself from standing up and going over to give the guy a hug. He just seems to radiate sadness, and I can’t help but want to make it better.

He flinches as I wrap my arms around him, not bothered by the spikes all over him. When he is not on high alert, they are quite flexible and not sharp. It’s only once he goes into warrior mode that they become lethal.

I lean my head against his shirt-covered chest, feeling all the bumps and ridges underneath my cheek as his arms slowly come up and he returns the hug. I feel him shudder in my arms, and a tear streaks down my cheek before I can stop it.

“When we rescue Grandma, we’ll sit down and work out a plan for you.

If you want to return to Earth, we will make that happen.

I know Aura also feels this way. Smith will be dealt with,” I promise him fiercely, anger at the slimy little man flaring up inside me like it always does when I think about him.

Brannock’s arms tighten, and he stiffens at my promise. “Yes, I need to go back to Earth,” he tells me in a way that makes me feel like there is something there that he can’t live without, which is how I feel about my mates and children, so I will do everything I can to help him.
