The Monsters she wasn’t going to kowtow to a little show of power.

Desmon put his hand down on the table. Not hard, but firmly enough to make a point. “Get out of here, Emmett.”

The perfect smile was back on Emmett’s face. “Nice catching up with you too, Desmon. Until next time.” He gave a curt nod, turned, and strode back to his table.

Just in time, the main course was coming out. I slipped my hand into Graham’s, and we made our way back to our table.

Well, that was most interesting. Good on Elana for standing up to Emmett.

“You know, there hasn’t been a dull day since I met you.”

He glanced down at me, his eyes soft. “Yeah?”

I smiled. “Yeah.”

“Is that a good thing?” His tone was playful, but I caught the note of question in his voice.

“I’d say so, yes. I’m glad I decided to take a gamble on you back in that motel room.”

“I’m glad you did too, Trouble. I’m glad you did.”
