Chapter 21 Camp Bed in the Corner
Tang Xiaomang shrank his neck under my shout.
He did not dare push it, but there was still a wronged look in his eyes.
He looked like he felt bad about me sleeping outside.
That evening I went to the secondhand market and fished out a Camp Bed, set it up in the corner of the living room.
I laid a thick mattress on it. Sleeping on it was comfortable enough.
"I'll sleep here after this."
I patted the Camp Bed and told Tang Xiaomang, "You sleep easy in there."
Tang Xiaomang watched me make the bed, quick and neat. His lips moved. In the end he swallowed the words.
He just went quietly to the kitchen, used that peeling pot of mine, and boiled me a bowl of ginger sugar water.
"Qin Ye, drive out the cold."
He handed me the bowl.
In the rising steam, his eyes were clean, without a speck of anything else.
I took the bowl. The scalding heat traveled from the wall of the bowl into my palm, and all the way into some corner of my chest.
This kid was trouble, but at least he knew how to care for someone.
A lot better than that heartless Little Wolf Cub.
