8. Global “Dice” Jamerson #2

“Huh?”

“You zoned out for a minute.”

“Oh... I'm good. But I’m glad your family will accept Revv.”

He nodded, but I couldn’t hide the concern written all over my face.

“You know, I never told anybody this, but there was one time I almost came clean. You were at the airport. When I stepped into view, this slim girl with long black hair and blonde highlights walked up and hugged you. I didn’t want to interrupt, so... I stepped back out of sight.”

“Girl, that could’ve been anybody.” He balled his face up. “You held on to a life-changing secret because you saw somebody hug me?”

The mug he wore was too damn cute.

“G-baby, I’m trying not to get pissed, love. But you’re going into a territory that is playing with my emotions. With that, I don’t wanna ruin your life bullshit like you don’t have my son. A son, whose full name I don’t even know. I missed time with him, love.”

Dammit Dice!

“His name is Revv Monroe Jamerson.”

He grimaced, not the usual frown, but a deep mug.

“A what?.. Girl, you can drop that Jamerson.”

“Whyyyyy it’s cute,” I said, dragging my words like Coca.

“And that’s the damn problem.”

“He knew who I was.”

“Of course. I showed him pictures, and we watched you on television speaking about your new renovations and expansion. Congratulations, by the way.”

“I appreciate that.”

I just nodded, and he stood to his full height, and my whole body reacted. No wonder we had a child in the other room; this Greek god was just too much to process.

“You gonna get wrinkled. Take your bath before your water gets cold. I will be in here waiting.”

He turned to walk out, and fat ma started to cry.

“No backwash?” I called out at his wide back.

“Girl, I’m still pissed, but I’ma still pin yo’ ass to the bed, so hurry up.”

Whew, that went better than I expected, and I was about to speed through this wash. I needed that melatonin dick; a bitch was tired.

I know there was more we had to talk about, but somewhere in his heart, he softened because he met his son, he learned his son knew who he was, and I was about to get some much-needed dick.

Hearing my phone chime, I saw I had a notification from Greg.

Greg: You will not believe the day I had.

I most definitely would believe it!

Me: Are you okay?

Greg: Yeah. We was robbed.

Greg: My co-worker Scott was killed.

By choice.

Me: Omg!!!!! Sorry to hear that!

Me: We boarding ttyl

Greg: Well damn!!!!

I left him on read. I would be ditching this burner I used to communicate with him soon anyway. The job was over, and Greg would be placed in lost files.

I finished my wash, dried off, and started my skin routine, so I could bounce up and down on a real nigga. Greg had to go find some training classes or something; his looks were only gonna get him so far. I had major B.D.E waiting for me, and I was hot and ready.

I guess I was taking too long because this man had the television on. How was the news going to get him in the mood?

Wait?

I breathed a sigh of relief when I heard something about numbers as I removed my towel and started to lotion my body. That was until I heard the news reporter say:

“Authorities are investigating whether today’s armored truck robbery is connected to the same group responsible for a string of unsolved robberies across multiple states over the last decade. Based on the individuals’ frames, we have determined that these are most likely women.”

NO. NO. NO.

The words from the news reporter had my heart sinking to the soles of my feet, but the next lines had me saying, damn the lotion, I had to get in there and cut this shit off.

“Investigators say the women, known only by surveillance footage, have remained unidentified despite multiple robberies across state lines. The group first gained national attention after this highway footage captured four individuals fleeing a bank robbery two years ago with these exact same frames. The witness stated here today that there were three bikers and not four, so we are unclear.”

What the fuck? This can’t be happening.

They had to play an old video. When Rose died, we had her body flown back home to Magnolia Valley for burial, careful not to raise suspicion. Thank God for Kash’s late father’s connections.

Play it cool, Dice. Play it cool.

I walked into my bedroom slowly and as normally as possible, trying not to raise any suspicion.

I did a slow power walk in there, trying to be seductive, while trying to get to that damn remote.

Once I had it in my hand, I turned off the television and pretended I was looking for music to set the mood.

Slow-jam R he was locked in on my eyes.

“Where you coming from?”

I didn’t speak.

“Where. Are. You. Coming. From?” he said, his head now tilted to the side, like he was studying my whole chemical makeup.

“Huh?”

“Don’t do that, ma. Answer the question.”

I could have taken it better if he had been yelling, but his voice stayed at the same octave. Hell, he was still seated, and his aura had me shaking. When he stood, this was Radar; this was who the streets once feared. Coca told me as much as he could about the man before me now.

“Look... don’t answer.” He tilted his head, never taking his eyes off me. “Just know I know your body so damn well I could draw it with my eyes closed, and that’s from one night.”

He took one slow step toward me.

“So imagine my surprise when a nigga just trying to check the weather and the stocks while waiting on you... sees a woman with your exact same body carrying a leaking girl out of a bank with two other women.”

He took a slow step towards me.

“Two years ago...”

His eyes searched every inch of my face.

“You walked into my casino and lost more money than you’d ever lost at Monroe’s Casino.”

He was moving closer with every word.

“Two years ago... you got your first marker.”

This man was closing in on me.

“Two years ago... you bounced on me until tears rolled down your beautiful face.”

He stopped just a few feet away.

“Then you vanished.”

Silence took over the room.

“And today...” His voice dropped even lower. “...you finally gave me a slice of your world and told me why.”

His eyes narrowed, and his orbs got so dark that he appeared soulless.

“You lost one of your best friends.”

Another pause.

“Guess when.”

My stomach twisted.

“...Two years ago.”

His voice stayed calm, but every word felt like another brick sealing me inside a wall.

“If that still ain’t enough...” His gaze flickered toward the corner of the room. “There are two pictures by your mirror. You and three other women, all on bikes, and the other showing all you ladies in your leather cuts.”

His eyes found mine again.

“If you haven’t learned anything about me, love...” He took one final step. “...learn this. I pay attention to everything, Global Jamerson, or should I say, Dice?”

Hotdamn, his attentive ass. He saw my name on the back of my vest.

“Look…” but his words clipped mine.

“I assume Dice is your gang name, but who are they?”

I opened my mouth, but he cut me off before I could get a word out, not wanting to hear my bull.

“What was your angle?” he finally asked.

The question hit me harder than a slap.

“What the fuck you mean by that?” I yelled.

“Lower your damn voice.”

His voice was deadly, and my heart was beating faster than any heist I’ve ever pulled with Gang of Roses, but he never raised his voice.

“Nigga this my shit I…”

His big hands wrapped around my throat, killing the following words. He squeezed lightly, not enough to hurt me, not enough to truly choke me, but damn sure enough to get my attention and know who was in control, but I wouldn’t be Dice if I didn’t stand here in my birthday suit and lock eyes.

Under any other circumstance, this toxic shit would’ve had me flowing like a river.
