Book 6 Season for Love #3

“Marry me.” He releases her hands to retrieve the ring box from his pocket and opens it to reveal a simple square-cut diamond. He knows anything flashier would’ve been wrong for her.

She gasps, and her hand covers her mouth.

He loves that he’s taken her completely by surprise.

Her eyes dart from the ring to his face—possibly to gauge his sincerity—and back to the ring.

“Stephanie Logan, I’ll love you every day for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?” Grant wonders if his eyes are deceiving him when he sees her nod. “Is that a yes?”

The word “yes” gets caught on a sob, but he hears it. Loud and clear. He slides the ring onto her finger and reaches for her.

Owen drives Laura Frank’s home in Providence.

Her dad is happy to finally meet Owen. Laura is in rough shape after the ferry ride.

Frank is concerned about Justin getting physical with Laura, but she says he’d never do that in public.

Owen goes to the restaurant with her and keeps an eye from a distance as she joins Justin at the table.

Justin knows all about her new life on Gansett and her “friendship” with Owen.

He knows about the baby because he had a private investigator follow her.

She smacks him in the face and tells him to sign the divorce papers, or she and her father will make his life a living hell.

After the awful confrontation, Laura asks for some time to herself, which upsets Owen.

He calls Frank to tell him that Justin did something to seriously upset Laura.

Frank says her withdrawal is similar to how she coped after her mother died.

Frank says it’s time he had a talk with her “husband” and asks Owen if he loves Laura.

Owen says he does. He can’t deny it. Frank encourages him to get her back to the island, where she’s always been happiest, and to give her time to process what’s happened.

Carolina and Seamus sleep together, and afterward she can’t believe she is in bed with a man sixteen years her junior and having the best sex of her life.

Evan wakes to someone banging on the door to his and Grace’s apartment.

It’s Ned with a business idea for Evan. Ned will put up the money for Evan to start a recording studio on the island.

Ned believes Evan and Owen could make a go of it.

He wants to see Evan back on track with a purpose again.

Evan is grateful to Ned and eager to talk to Grace and Owen about the idea.

Laura wakes in Owen’s arms and apologizes for punching out on him the night before.

She tells him how Justin implied that she can’t be without a man.

And as a result of that, Owen says, you’ve decided to take a step back from me.

Something like that, she says. You’re a dope, he replies.

Laura is still too upset to focus on the next steps with Owen.

Carolina is mortified to be naked in bed with Seamus when Joe calls to tell his mother that Janey is pregnant.

Seamus says, “Congratulations, Grandma,” and she chokes on her coffee.

By the time he finally lets her out of bed to take a shower an hour later, Carolina is royally screwed—in every possible way.

Maddie has the women over to discuss a Thanksgiving dinner for the community.

When Tiffany arrives, she asks if Maddie has heard any more from their father.

Maddie hates being the only thing standing between their mom and Ned getting married.

Maddie is worried about Tiffany, who tells her sister about a sexy interlude with Blaine after she snuck into Jim’s place and disastrously tried to seduce him.

Tiffany is rattled to realize she might’ve missed out on the kind of incendiary passion she experienced with Blaine if she’d stayed with Jim.

Maddie has decided to decline Linda’s offer to be the housekeeping director at McCarthy’s Gansett Inn to stay home with her kids.

She suggests Linda offer the job to Daisy.

Laura thanks Owen for being with her during the difficult trip to Providence and tells him things are apt to be messy for a while, but she wants to be with him.

He wants that, too, and he can’t wait to meet the baby who will change both their lives.

When they return to the island, they finally make love.

She jokes about how he got “more than his share.” They admit they love each other.

Seamus accompanies Carolina to the ferry landing for the ride to Gansett.

She can barely bring herself to look at him, which is disappointing to him.

He’s not going to beg her, but says he had a grand time, best sex of his life, and she knows where to find him if she changes her mind about wanting to pursue a relationship with him.

Linda comes to the marina to tell Big Mac that Janey is pregnant.

Then Linda goes to celebrate with Carolina, who has just arrived on the island.

Linda notices that Carolina has a rash on her face.

Carolina admits she had sex but won’t say with whom.

It was great sex and she likes him very much, but he’s sixteen years younger than her.

Linda invites Carolina to Sydney and Luke’s party that evening.

When they wake much later in the day, Laura wonders how Owen will feel about the baby. He’ll love the baby because he or she is part of Laura. Owen wants to attend her doctor’s appointments and be her labor coach.

Jenny arrives early at Sydney’s party so she can get situated before the influx of friends. Sydney believes Jenny will fit right in with their group. Kara also attends the party to meet everyone.

Linda wants to kill Grant because he got engaged and didn’t tell her.

Mac gets Janey on the phone to tell them her news.

Luke and Sydney are engaged, too. Maddie tells Tiffany that Blaine is looking at her.

She encourages Tiffany to talk to him. Maddie hates that Jim made her fearless sister hesitant and unwilling to go after what she wants.

Tiffany admits Maddie is right—she’s afraid of her own shadow.

If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen, Maddie tells her.

When she finds out Seamus is at the party, Carolina regrets not bringing her own car.

Seamus wants to drive her home. Absolutely not, she says.

Seamus corners her in the bathroom, and they engage in a heated make-out session before Carolina storms off, maddened by her unmistakable attraction to the charming Irishman.

Seamus offers her a ride home in front of everyone, so she can’t very well turn him down without people wondering why. He’s infuriating!

Owen and Laura show up late to the party, which has everyone talking about where they’ve been all day.

Evan wants to talk to him about Ned’s idea.

Owen is excited for Evan to pursue the opportunity, but he’s found his calling working at the hotel with Laura.

He likes the idea of keeping the hotel in the family.

Frank has talked to Justin, who agreed to give Laura a divorce and primary custody if she ends things with Owen.

Frank isn’t done working his network to deal with Justin.

He and Owen agree to keep this latest salvo from Laura until Frank has time to see what he can do.

Owen isn’t comfortable keeping it from her.

Laura asks Stephanie to open her new restaurant in the Sand & Surf.

Dan Torrington is intrigued by Kara, who isn’t his type.

When he asks Grant to introduce him, Grant says Dan is far too old for Kara.

Big Mac introduces her to Grant, who introduces her to Dan.

She’s not impressed to hear he’s a lawyer.

Dan asks her to dinner the next night, and she declines.

Tiffany ventures onto the back deck to get some air and encounters Blaine.

They confess to having thought of each other often since their earlier encounter.

He asks if she’s still married, and she says not for long.

“Good,” he says. “The minute you’re free of him, the very same second it’s final, you’re going to call me. ”

“Oh, I—”

He brings his face so close to hers that the hint of his whiskers against her cheek and the mild, masculine scent of his cologne make her tremble madly. “You’re going to call me, and we’re going to pick up where we left off. Are we clear on how this is going to go?”

Tiffany doesn’t know whether to be relieved to know there’ll be more with him or outraged over his dominant tone. No one tells her what to do!

When she doesn’t answer him, he gives the waistband of her jeans a firmer tug that throws off her balance, causing her breasts to mash against his chest.

She gasps when her sensitized nipples rub against hard muscle.

“I said, are we clear?”

While she wants to protest his high-handedness, she’s so aroused that all she can manage is the briefest of nods. It’s a shock to realize high-handedness turns her on.

“I didn’t hear you,” he growls in her ear.

“Yes,” she whispers. “We’re clear.”

“Good.” He releases her so suddenly she nearly stumbles. Only his hands on her shoulders keep her from falling. And then his palm is on her face in a tender caress that steals the breath from her lungs.

When he walks away from her, she goes to find Dan to get her divorce from Jim finalized.

Carolina is infuriated on the ride home.

Seamus wants to understand why she won’t let herself have something she wants.

She doesn’t want him to sacrifice the chance to have a real life and children with someone his own age.

What would your mother say about this, she asks.

He laughs at the question and says his mother would like her.

He wants to make a go of this thing with her, but she has to get out of her own way. She agrees to think about it.
