Daisy Babson is nervous after inviting Dr. David Lawrence over to hang out with her while she’s babysitting for Thomas and Hailey McCarthy.
She worries he’s only being kind to her, and she’s blowing their friendship into something it’s not.
David reassures her that his feelings are genuine.
Daisy is happy to have her first physical contact with a man following her ex-boyfriend’s attack without too much fear or embarrassment.
Before things go too far, Mac and Maddie come home from their night out. David drives Daisy home and says he needs to tell her some things about himself before they go any further.
Thomas McCarthy wakes up and catches Mac and Maddie having sex. He worries about Daddy hurting Mommy. Maddie assures him that Daddy would never hurt her or him. Thomas agrees he’s a good daddy, and the crisis is averted, but Mac and Maddie are mortified to have been caught.
Ned Saunders drives Daisy to work, where she’s now the probationary head of housekeeping at McCarthy’s Gansett Inn.
Ned is worried about Daisy’s new friend, Dr. David.
She appreciates his concern and knows there are things he needs to tell her.
Maddie visits Daisy at the hotel and tells her that Thomas caught her and Mac in the act.
Linda McCarthy comes in while they’re laughing and shares that Mac once caught her and Big Mac on the sofa.
After Linda leaves, Maddie tries to warn Daisy about David. Daisy reassures Maddie that she and David will talk about it when he returns from a trip to Boston. Daisy is grateful for everyone’s concern but worries about whether she can trust David.
Janey Cantrell checks in for her thirty-two-week visit at the clinic with Victoria and learns the baby is in the breech position.
If he or she doesn’t move into position soon, she may need a C-section.
Janey and Joe plan for her to deliver at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence.
Neither of them wants Janey’s ex-fiancé, David, involved in the birth.
Sarah Lawry picks up Daisy for their dinner “date.” Police Chief Blaine Taylor introduced them, thinking they could support each other following violent relationships.
Daisy looks forward to her time with Sarah.
They head to Mario’s for pizza and a quiet place to talk.
Sarah is worried that Charlie Grandchamp, whom she’s been dating for a while, is getting fed up with her.
She still hasn’t told him about the abuse she suffered at the hands of her estranged husband or his upcoming trial for the abuse.
Daisy encourages Sarah to tell Charlie. Daisy shares her excitement about David and her worries that his past might be too much to overcome.
“I think it has something to do with his breakup with Janey McCarthy, which has my brain spinning in a number of unsavory directions,” Daisy says.
“Don’t forget it’s possible for people to make really serious mistakes that they regret tremendously and to learn from those mistakes and never make them again,” Sarah reminds her, while acknowledging that her estranged husband is a violent, controlling monster incapable of ever changing.
“I don’t think there’s any comparison between his brand of evil and whatever sins David Lawrence may have committed, but you’ll have to be the judge of that.
Something tells me that a man who’s capable of the sort of kindness and compassion he’s shown both of us is someone worth spending time with. ”
