Chapter 11
Naked was fine too.
Wendy
Ilooked absolutely ridiculous.
The humans at the base had given Baelor hospital clothes to dress me. Apparently, only the space station had regular things like jeans and T-shirts. Or even shoes.
So I waited, seated at the floor table in the too large and scratchy fabric, Nitochi brushing my hair behind me.
“So…” I started, my fingers tapping distractedly on my knees. “We’ll finally get to understand each other. It’s good, right?”
His lips drew a line of soft kiss on my nape. “Asae.”
I wasn’t sure why I had expected Baelor to look hurt when he came back. After all, I was supposed to be with both of them…But he hadn’t. If I had to put a name on the emotion I had seen on his face, it would have been envy. Maybe even frustration.
I had no doubts that he would have joined if the humans hadn’t been waiting outside.
Nitochi’s cock was…big. And felt different from human ones. Would I be having both of them at the same time? I had never been with more than one man at once, and the whole dynamic brought questions—and lust, if I was being honest—to my mind.
I wish I could have taken a look at it…It hadn’t felt completely round, the underside maybe a little flatter than the top. And I could have sworn that something had moved right before he came. Inside.
Shit! Could I already be pregnant? I had my birth control device removed a couple of days before getting into the shuttle.
The doctor had said that I’d be extra fertile for a few months before it went back to normal—the side effect of having been on birth control from the moment I had reached puberty.
“Nitochi?” I asked as his fingers kept sliding between the strands of my hair. He hummed. “Could I—I mean, is it possible that I could be pregnant now?”
“Hamun.”
One single word. I frowned, confused. No? How could he be so sure? Were Gemins reproducing in a…different way?
“But you—”
The words died in my throat as voices sounded from the little tunnel to our side. Okay, that’s a discussion for later, then. And after all, it would be easier to discuss all this if I understood him, that way he wouldn’t have to use single word sentences.
“Miss Winsbur?” one of the men emerging behind Baelor asked.
“Yes.” I smiled, and grabbed Baelor’s hand as he walked near Nitochi and I. His brows shot up in surprise, but he didn’t resist when I pulled him to sit on the cushions with us.
“It’s good to see they managed to find you unharmed.”
Nitochi’s throat rumbled in my back before he mumbled something that I didn’t understand but that made the three men in white coats blanch.
The one who had spoken nodded. “We’ll do a quick examination today, but when you go to the space station soon, we’ll be able to do a full check-up.”
“Thank you,” I answered, grateful.
Nitochi tensed behind me. He wasn’t brushing my hair anymore, both of his arms surrounding my middle to keep my back plastered to his chest.
They kept giving him wary looks, hesitating as they kneeled on the floor in front of me.
“We’ll start by updating your translator,” the first man said as the others opened little boxes to take out various equipment. Once he had the small device in his hand, he looked toward Nitochi again, hands up in a placating way. “Okay?”
I looked over my shoulder, confused. The gleam in my dark knight’s eyes was nothing if not threatening. Baelor was muttering under his breath, closing his eyes like he was already tired of this.
Finding his large hand pressing on my stomach, I slid mine over and caressed his knuckles with my thumb. Our gaze met then, and I gave him a reassuring smile.
“Okay,” I said to the man.
He still hesitated as he brought the beeping device closer to the spot behind my ear and stilled. Waiting.
“It’ll just take a minute,” he said. His hand was shaking.
I kept rubbing Nitochi’s skin to try and appease him.
The man retreated and pressed on a few buttons before giving me a nod and giving it back to the one just behind him.
“Okay, it’s being updated now. You haven’t been here long, but the communication must have been difficult… ”
I chuckled. “Sometimes…” I couldn’t help but blush as I looked at Nitochi over my shoulder. Words aren’t always necessary. Baelor returned my smile when I turned to him. “Baelor has been translating when needed.” Although, he kept some of Nitochi’s words to himself…
“Baelor, like most of the other day Gemins, has been learning our language from a young age,” the man said. There was something kind in his voice that told me he had been around for a long time. Maybe even when my future husbands were children. “He’ll be a great lead for your new family.”
My head tilted to the side. “Lead?”
Baelor winced. “Actually, we—”
“I am the lead.”
My eyes widened as I turned around sharply. I can understand him. Shit, his voice, even in words I could actually comprehend, was still so damn hot I was kind of mad other people were in the room. I had been scared that the translator would somehow change it. Glad it didn’t.
We stared at each other in silence for a few beats. “Hi,” I finally said, voice barely loud enough for even myself to hear.
A small smile tugged at his lips. “Hi.”
The man cleared his throat, catching our attention. “Well, I guess this particular issue is settled. I’ll need do to a quick exam and give you a couple of injections, if you—”
“What injections?” Nitochi growled, the sound sending vibration from his rumbling chest to my back.
Two of the three men actually looked terrified of him. The other one seemed more and more annoyed.
“She’s never traveled outside of her colony before,” the older man who’s been speaking from the beginning explained. “All the brides need to get vaccinated.”
I held Nitochi’s arms tighter. “It’s alright,” I reassured him. “I’m used to injections. I’ve had to have them pretty much every month since the day I was born back on my planet.”
Nitochi let out a low growl but made no move to stop the man when he came closer to my arm. “Okay. Let's take your tension first. We’ll leave you alone soon.”
Not even one hour later, all of them were gone. I was seated at the floor table, a cup of water between my hands, as both Baelor and Nitochi were cooking something in the kitchen.
“Aren’t you tired?” I asked Baelor. He’d been out most of the day. Not to mention he probably hadn’t slept at all the night Nitochi rescued me.
“I should be able to survive the dinner at our parents' nest,” he said with a smile. “But after that, I will definitely crumble in bed.”
“Is it close by?” I wondered.
Baelor winced. “Not really. We will all stay there for a few days.”
A few days? But… “At your…parents’?”
Nitochi arched a brow at me. “Are you still afraid that we will eat you?”
Blood rushed to my cheeks. Will I ever get used to his voice?
“No!” I blurted. “I just—” My eyes strayed to Baelor, stretching his neck as he crouched over the large pan, moving the sizzling meat around.
“I thought that, now that I have my translator updated and everything, we would get to spend time together.” I paused.
Both of them had stopped what they were doing to stare at me.
My throat bobbed. “You know…Just the three of us.”
They exchanged a silent look. Nitochi’s lips curled up in a smile as he looked away, shaking his head.
“We will,” Baelor said, seriously. “We will not sleep in their nest. They probably already prepared a free cave for us. Far away from theirs.”
My heated face was now burning. Oh. I couldn’t help but anxiously scratch at my arms, the itchy fabric grating on my nerves. Nitochi caught the motion.
“Are those standard human clothes?” he asked, motioning to the—let’s face it, ugly—hospital shirt and pants.
“Certainly not,” I said, shaking my head vehemently. “I can’t wait to get out of these and into something else.” Or not. Naked was fine too. “I don’t know when they’ll bring me normal clothes, though.”
They both looked relieved. It seemed they didn’t like this outfit more than I did. “Do not worry about it,” Baelor said. “Our mother took her duties very seriously.”
His words piqued my interest. “Duties?”
“She has been collecting clothes for you for weeks,” Nitochi said with a chuckle before lifting playful eyes to me. “To be fair, she still sees us as savage teenagers.”
Baelor rolled his eyes. “She does. She was worried we would not dress you at all and leave you…naked. But maybe she has a point…”
The pointed stare he gave both me and Nitochi said it all. My dark knight only laughed, bumping his shoulders against his. “Let’s talk about it again in a few days, yes?”
“Anyway,” Baelor said, not taking the bait. “The males’ mother usually provides the female of her sons her…marital clothes.”
Marital? “But we aren’t—”
“The ceremony did not happen yet, we know,” Baelor continued, reading my confusion. “She is sad about this and does not want you to be forced to stay naked and inside until it does.”
My eyes strayed to their naked chests. They wore pants, but that seemed to be it. Maybe their wings didn’t allow them to cover up completely.
Not that I had any complaints…
Baelor grunted and turned around.
Nitochi’s eyes didn’t leave mine as he said, “We do not have the time for lust, habanshi.” Why did it not translate? “Stop looking at us like this or we will not make it in time.”
Shit.
I guess we were going to visit their parents then…
